    Very depressed

Hi~ I have been taking a combination of Wellbutrin and Lexapro for a couple of years now and have been doing very well. Well enough so that I now feel I can tackle the weight issue and have the lap band surgery. I know trying to find the right combination can be tough...I took Prozac for 5 years and it just quit working (and I fell apart!). But I'd encourage you to look for a different PCP who might be more open to trying different medications. I agree that life it too short to spend it depressed and missing out on all the good things that you just can't seem to see when you're depressed. I hope you find someone who can work with you on this...there are so many options available now. Consider yourself hugged... Emily

    Do you feel the band?

I've wondered the same thing about whether you can feel it or not. It's a little weird thinking of having something "foreign" in there. But thinking of the hip replacement thing will help me (my mom has one). What happens when something gets stuck...do you feel pain or how do you tell? Has the tubing disconnecting from the port been a problem? So many questions...it's wonderful to have the experiences of all of you to draw on as well as the moral support! Emily

    Help me through the weekend!

I just read the message about GasX...and the one about baby drops simethicone, which I thought was an excellent idea. I have my first appt. with doc on Nov. 7, but I'm trying to learn as much from you all who have already been through it as I can! Emily

    Minnesota Folks

Hello~ I just found this site and am so excited to be able to compare notes with others who have had or are considering surgery. My sister and I just went to Dr. O'Brien's informational meeting in Sioux Falls last Wednesday. We have a friend who had him and is really pleased. He seems to have an excellent record, and his staff seemed very nice, too. In researching online, hje's got super positive reviews from his patients. I just called this morning and scheduled my one on one visit with him. It's exciting to finally have something that seems do-able...I just couldn't see having bypass surgery...too many complications and horror stories. My sister is a physical therapis who has seen a lot of them first hand. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing Dr. O'Brien and getting this whole pr ocess started. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota (Aware Gold), which they said has been great about coverage. I was glad to see a post from someone who had gone to Dr. O'Brien.
