    February 2006 bandsters unite!!

Hi, everyone~ I'm now down 24 pounds total (banded 1/24). This is so amazing! I'm starting my second week on mushies and have gained back a couple of pounds from being down 27, but I understand that's pretty normal. I go for my first fill on 3/7 and am a little nervous about it...but I'm sure it'll be fine. We are all doing GREAT! This is such a good idea to help us keep track of each other...thanks, Janet, for taking this on. Emily

Congratulations on reaching your first goal! It must feel WONDERFUL, and I hope you savor every minute...you earned it!!! I read somewhere that often our body sends out the thirst message and we ignore it, and so then it sends out the hunger message but really wants Water and just wants to get our attention~ Emily

    Finally Banded

I slept in my recliner for about 10 days...it's got a high seat and is firm so is relatively easy to get out of. Hope your recovery is smooth and problem-free! Emily

Thank you!! NO CANCER!!!!! Thank you!!!

What a blessing to know that you are going to be OK in time. I'm so thankful that it wasn't cancer. And if it scared you into letting go of the cigarettes for good, that is a great thing! Emily

    no period since surgery

Mine have always been irregular, which the ob-gyn said wasn't a problem unless you go more than 3 months. If it's longer than that, they usually give you progesterone to bring one on so the lining of the uterus doesn't build up too much. From what he said, it can cause concern because it just sits there and can eventually become precancerous. Scared me to death, so now I do the progesterone thing every 3-4 months. Gives me periods from hell, but that's better than the alternative, I guess. I would check in with your ob-gyn and see what he/she wants you to do...I do think they need to know about it. Emily

    I want your opinion

I'm a new bandster only 3 weeks out from surgery, so I don't know how valuable my opinion is...I chose to have this done after a lot of research and a lot of time reading here. I wouldn't have considered gastric bypass...just to scary and too many complications for me personally. But this seemed do-able, and it was either do this or just quit trying and continue creeping up. My life was getting more and more uncomfortable and I wasn't willing to give up yet, so this was it for me. Good luck with your decision...it's a very personal one for each of us. Emily

    Cut down that hurt

I would definitely do as so many suggested and let the manager know you will be taking your business elsewhere and why. I believe firmly in praising excellent service and letting businesses know when their service was poor. And this was beyond poor! I'm so sorry this happened to you...what a jerk. Emily

It's been so much fun to read what everyone does...we are a really varied and amazing bunch of people...lots of talent here! Emily

    Scheduled for banding

Hi~ My surgeon found a hiatal hernia when they went in to do the band, so he repaired that first. Didn't bother me before hand so didn't know I had one...and the repair hasn't bothered me, either. You'll be fine. Dn't know about the gall bladder, as I had mine out 20 years ago! Emily

    Day of Surgery Questions

I had general anesthesia...only way to go! Since I'm allergic to codeine, I got Demerol in the hospital (only needed it once) and just liquid Motrin at home twice. Emily
