hello! i was banded in mississauga ontario last feb i paid for the surgery, ohip will not cover it,and unless your doctor applies to your insurance company it'll take abit, not sure about 5 yrs. alot of people in my area of windsor are going to the usa for the gastric, which ohip covers with a 6 month wait i'm happy with paying for it , i'msure i've spent more $$ over the yrs with all the diet gimmicks and diet programs good luck

hi! i was banded feb 2008, i have a family member in the medical field who of course gave me all the scenarios that can happen, freaking me out completely, but i went ahead, followed the doctors orders prior to and lost 20 lbs before surgery, and as of last fill i have lost a total 44 lbs. on schedule with the 1 - 2lb a week, and i'm very happy, rather lose it slow than fast like the gastric, i certainly realize the bad eating habits and how fast i ate i still have to stop myself and its all reprogramming and taking on good healthy habits. good luck!:tt2:

I couldn't figure out what was happening! i was :huh2:,my weight was down 4 lbs,i wondered what i was doing wrong. Well it finally hit me this morning! :w00t: i was reading other posts etc,and other sites, when i realized, that feeling when you first start eating your meal, and there is a feeling of being stuffed quickly,i thought my food was stuck, you know the feeling of eating and something is stuck, well duh! to me! that's the feeling i'm suppose to feel, the feeling of being full! i was waiting for it to pass before, and then finishing my meal. well no wonder i was staying put or only down a few pounds. So here's to a new day,and now i know!

was banded feb 18th,was on liquids the rest of that week, then puree foods the following, and i had dropped another 6lbs, i had lost 20 pre op. now that i'm on solids or trial and error on foods,i've had a few times thrown up,and i know they don't want that to happen due to slippage,i am going for first fill 4/03 hopefully i 'll notice the weight coming off,i've been at a standstill on the scale,is due to my body adjusting etc. i'm sort of frustrated here
