I get a fill and it seems like I can't eat anything. I just keep getting stuck and then I end up having to get an unfill because my stoma is so irritated. It's so frustrating! I had this idea that I would have reached my goal weight by now. I think I will go into my doc's office and see what they think there.

I had my surgery 1/2007 and I am not even close to my goal weight. I have had fills, unfills and still can't find the "sweet spot" that everyone talks about. I feel like a failure and am desperate to figure out why I have stayed the same weight for so long. Any suggestions?

No, I haven't lost anything since January of this year.

Hello Everyone, I was banded on Feb. 1st and will be going in for my first fill on Thursday the 28th. I haven't had a single problem with any food since being banded. Actually, I don't really feel any different than I did before being banded. No restriction at all! In all of the info I received from the doc, it says that you aren't supposed to eat more than a 1/2 a cup of food. I can eat more than that and it doesn't seem to bother me. I do get full quicker but I'm not gorging myself by any means. But, I am worried that the lack of restriction will make the sudden restriction after my fill unbearable. Any answers or ideas?

I know just how you feel! I had my surgery on Feb. 1 and lost 22 pounds the first month and haven't lost anything since. I am scheduled for my third fill next Friday. I really hope this does it for me, because its getting frustrating! I journal my food, so I know its not because I am eating anything that would slow me down. I suppose I could just go back to liquids, but its hard enough to do that for the two days after my fills! I know - hang in there! -
1/2 a cup? I don't think so...

Ok, so I had my first fill on Friday the 1st and I feel a little restriction, but not at all as much as I was expecting! They told me it can take up to four fills to get the amount of restriction just right. Sheesh - I don't want to gain back everything that I've lost so far! Has anyone had this experience? I'm anxious to get on track! -
For those with BMI 35-40?

Funny how people can be so quick to pass judgement. I have found that when I've told some of my "larger" friends, they were pretty negative about it. I think that stems from jealousy maybe? Normal size friends always said that I wasn't that big. What is "that big"? Considering that I'm already on BP meds, I would think that's "big" enough! I went ahead and had it done regardless of what people in my life thought. I'm sure when they see me fit, trim and happy their outlook on WLS will be much different. Guess we can look at it as a chance to open others eyes to the positive aspects of WLS. -
I was also very nervous about "going under", but it all happens so fast and all the people are so kind and understanding that your fears just slip to the back of your mind. Next thing you know, you are waking up and it's all done! I too had a c-section, and I can tell you that there is no comparison. You will feel just fine, although a bit sore. I had my band done on Feb. 1st and am back to my regular routine. I get my first fill on the 28th, but have already lost 10 lbs. I guess it's that super delicious liquid diet! Don't be afraid - it will be the best thing you can do for yourself and the ones you love.

Hey Everybody! Had my surgery on 2/1 and all went well. Some pain for two days, but nothing I couldn't handle. However, here is my problem. I am a left side/stomach sleeper. Since my port insicion is on the left side I have been told to avoid sleeping on my left side or stomach. So, my sleeping has suffered which I'm sure slows down recovery. I am so beat in the morning from lack of sleep. I was hoping someone might have a suggestion? I've tried the extra pillow thing...didn't help.:tongue2:

I was banded yesterday 2/1 and I'm feeling exactly the same. Lots of pain and it feels like I have a giant air bubble in my body that won't come out. My doc checked over everything this morning and said it all looked good. He said it can take a week before all the air is gone. Kinda miserable, huh? Hope you feel better soon!

Hi everyone - I am having my surgery this Friday and thought I would start cleaning out my closet of all my "big" clothes. I have always taken pride in my appearence regardless of my size, so over the years I have built quite a wardrobe. Now, as I am going through all of these clothes I find myself feeling reluctant, and a bit nervous. I plan on selling what I can on ebay to pay for smaller clothes, but I can't get over the hesitation I feel. Maybe it's because of all the times I have dieted and gained back, so I'm worried this time will be the same. I know I should be overjoyed at the thought of getting rid of all of these clothes, but for some reason that's not what I'm feeling. Anyone have/had the same experience?

Feeling Reluctant...

Thanks so much for the encouragment! This will be a big change for me and I'm sure once the pounds start dropping, I won't look at those "big" clothes the way I do now. Good luck to you and thanks again! -
Hello to all! I have been reading posts on this site for a couple of months and now I feel like I need to touch base with folks who have been where I am going! I am very nervous about the surgery, but actually more nervous about post surgery. Did anyone feel nauseous? Was there much pain? How soon did you feel like yourself? I know I am making the right decision, but it's still a bit overwhelming! Thanks!:rolleyes2:
