  1. but oh so cool at the same time. I am still on the pre op weight loss bit, but the rate I am loosing and such, well I think by the time my surgery date (NOT scheduled YET... :cool2:) rolls around I will have officially disqualified myself. That would suck majorly. But at the same time I am dancing around seeing the scale down another 5lbs (well it was more, but I don't count PMS weight). I mean its cool and all that the pre op diet is working (not hard core diet just changing little things, and upping my exercise) but at the same time, I don't want to disqualify myself. LOL I mean how trippy is that, all my life this has NEVER worked for me but now that I am doing it so the nutritionist will get off my ass about my food diary its working ... GAH ...

    uh oh ...

Well technically my paperwork wont be submitted through the insurance as I am getting it done through the Army Hospital. It is up the the surgeon and his "team" to say yes or no. The team leader is a right nasty piece of work. She barely covered the lap band in her introduction and she is really pushing the bypass. So if I loose to much they wont do it. *sigh* so for me its a rock and a hard place. I am THRILLED the scale is moving, but if it moves to much in that direction then they wont do it.

Castro steps down as Cuba?s president

Actually his brother is rather sane compared to Castro. Raul is favored by many world governments even the US. In comparison he is fair and open minded where Castro was "NO NO NO" "WONT WONT WONT" like a two year old having a fit. I think that is one reason Castro chose Raul over a few others he favored. He knew Raul would take them into this century politically and economically, but he is to stubborn to show he knows the changes are needed he chose his brother to succeed him, so the job can be done. Castro isn't a stupid man, crazy yes, but stupid no. I don't think Raul will embrace democracy like many wish he would, but I also think he doesn't embrace communism like Castro did/does. I think he will choose a medium platform to keep with the communist ideologies his brother so loved, but elect some democratic ideas to ease the hardship of his people.
  9. Coming from a avid coffee drinker (have had to give it up a few times over the years) best advice I can give is wean your self off. The one time I had to stop drinking then and there I had horrific headaches. Never will do that again. As it gets closer to my surgery date (not set YET) I am slowing dropping my coffee consumption down bit by bit that way when surgery rolls around I will either be off it completely or down to so little that not having any wont bug me (cept for the mental thing LOL)

    Dentures!!!!!!

Ok, this is a fresh topic in my mind! Some of the ladies in the (mandatory) support group mentioned the fact that as it goes on there dentures got looser. That might be your problem. Go see your dentist and see if you just need to have them resized. The one lady (she had bypass) said it didn't feel like they didn't fit, she was just having problems chewing her food. Come to find out they were now to big for her. Amazing that you lose weight IN your mouth too. Go see your dentist and see if they just need to be refitted.
  12. OH how that reminds me of when I did my first "tell everyone diet". Was that EVER a mistake. My mom and sister were no big deal, infact my mom embraced it and started doing it herself. My dad though  yeah I was ready to smack him with a frying pan, preferably cast Iron. I would make something according to the nutritionists recipe (she was awesome) and he would critique EVERY THING. Finally I had to tell him to back off or he would eat the recipe book the hard way. Told him if I wanted to eat a cheese burger I would, and could, just had to make sure it was cooked a certain way and was sans bun (I have IBS .. bread is bad). ETC ETC He got better for a lil bit, then because the pain in the butt again. But he is my dad, I love the butt head.
  13. Mel, whom ever told you that about Tri-Care was mistaken. Very much so. Are you Prime or Standard? Do you have access to a military hospital with a surgical wing? I am also Tri-Care (prime) and since we have surgeons at the hospital who can do the Gastric surgeries (band/bypass/and now sleeve) all that is required is your PCM give you a referral to the surgical clinic. It is standard at any and all military hospitals that can perform the surgery. Shoot me a PM if you need more info.

    New puppy and house breaking.

I have crate trained all my dogs too. Now, I only have the one dog, and his crate has long since been recycled. He is such a goober headed baby. But, BUT he has no problems with the crate even though his was happily donated long ago. We still have his airlines crate and he loves it. It is 'halved' out back with a sheepskin 'blanky'. Crate train crate train crate train!! I buy different sized crates for them to grow, and then donate them to the humane society if I know I am not getting a pup anytime soon. Its a "happy expense" as I call it. Makes me happy and the dog too!

Anyone else in business with spouse?

My Husband and I don't own our own company YET, we are planning on opening a few Cafe's when he gets out of the service. We are both serious coffee snobs and avid gamers so we would incorporat those into the business. But even now, while he is still in the service know when we need time apart from each other (willing time apart not deployments) He goes to the movies, and I either retreat into the hot bath with lovely candles, or I get a mani and a pedi ... or I do all of it. Which is most likely to happen the not. LOL The Key is to know WHEN to back up and say "ok, we need space" ... that is something you two will HAVE to work on as you go. Or as you set it up, set up prearranged days that is hers and yours and then a date night also that is JUST you two. Don't speak business, don't speak kids, just enjoy each other over a nice cup of coffee or dinner or what ever.

    Aleve...

Ok, I have read a few times that some of you take Aleve, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP!! Aleve nearly cost my Brother in Law his life, I don't want to see anyone else go though what he went though. You see, he was taking aleve now and then (not a daily thing AT ALL) for minor aches and pains that kinda lasted longer then tylonal would, so Aleve it was. About two months after he started taking it (now remember he took it maybe once a week) he started bleeding profusely from his rectum. Tuns out the Aleve had worn away some of the lining in his bowels. 5 or 6 blood transfusions later the bleeding had stopped and he was stable. Sadly he has no case against aleve cause that is a listed LONG TERM side affect, not short term like his was, but LONG TERM. So no attorney would take it because it is listed as a possible long term side affect (one of the rare ones) So PLEASE switch to Tylonal, Motrin, or something else take that second dose couple hours later if your still in pain, just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop taking Aleve.

    Ow.

It IS very possible to develope what is called "adult onset allergies" in other words, what was once ok.. is a potential killer now. As a kid, I had NO allergies, used to bug all my friends. Seems almost every single one of them had atleast ONE allergy. Me? Nada. That is until I hit my 20's. Now I am allergic to the hormones in dairy (sucks, but Organic is ok for me just a allergy to my wallet LOL) Cut grass (but not regular? wtf?!?) Dust, and pet dander. OH, and wheat flour (the enriched white flour to be specific). Like I said, as a kid nothing, by the time I was 26, I had a nice list. Still don't know if I am allergic to bee's or not, they say its not hereditary but tell that to the rest of my family. EIther way the insurance wont cover the allergy test cause "I haven't had a reaction". Well duh! I haven't been stung since I was 12. LOL So yeah, you could have been allergic all along and for some reason that one pack REALLY set it off. I would take that box to your doctor ASAP and have them test you for specific ingredients so you can narrow it down instead of guessing.

    Aleve...

BJean .. take your B12 supplements and you should be fine. Most of the meds I have to take can kill my liver, sooo I take my B12 and every year my liver function tests are perfect. AND I take tylonal.

    Dropping a shoe size?

At one of my support group meetings (its mandatory at the hospital I am getting the surgery done .. go army regulations /end sarcasm) some of the ladies were talking about loosing 2-3 shoe sizes .. I could not imagine going from a 8 1/2-9 to something smaller ... kind of freaks me out LOL
  22. I don't talk to people in the waiting room either, for me that is just way to personal a place for a "stranger conversation". I have had people start talking to me, but generally I give very simple answers and either tap my book, or play with my pen (if I am doing a cross word) and the hint (for the most part) is respected. I do hear some crazy stuff in waiting rooms though, never ever sit near OB/GYN waiting areas ROFL .. OMG ... (and I am mom!!)
  23. Nathenag, so is a no no for me. I have to be very careful with it. I am not allergic to it per say but I do have a very interesting reaction to it. I don't think you want details :tt2: I do take a daily Vitamin and essential oils ( I am near fanatical about it). As for lotion, I have to. I have Eczema and psoriasis so lotion is a MUST for me. My skin doc (I can never remember what they are called) says once the weight comes down my eczema and psoriasis will probably improve as my over all health improves. But to counter your "don't put to much faith" in lotions, don't have to little faith in the ability of lotion either. Having worked in the medical field for a few years, after washing my hands hundreds of times a day, putting latex gloves on and off (UGH  can we say that powder is a serious irritant?????), lotion became my best friend.
  24. Ok, I am trying to understand, if there are no stretch marks, and good skin care (IE Lotion lotion lotion lotion!) I shouldn't have an issue with 'lots' of 'extra' skin, but in the area's I have stretch marks I will have issue with 'extra' skin. If I am not making any sense I do apologize, I am just trying to figure the skin thing out. TBH I am not really that concerned. I would rather have a extra skin then all this layers of fat. But I am just tryin to figure out where future problems might be. Make sense?
  25. I haven't really told my boys yet (7 and 9) but they know that Gramma is coming down in a few months to help mommy out cause I will need it. They know I am going to a lot of dr appts, and know that it is weight related. My oldest is getting suspicious that I am having surgery, but I haven't confirmed it yet. I am quite the dodger when it comes to the subject with my kids but I haven't lied to them. When/if I get the approval from the hospital to have it done, then I will sit down and explain to them what is happening and all of that. For now, they know what I think they need to know. When that changes I will fill them in even more.
