Actually Indio that particular thing is not what I am talking about, its the local Target here that I am talking about. This is a military community and they wont allow the Vets selling the poppy flowers (the fake lapel pins) while most other big box stores not only welcome them but get things set up for them. The Kmart (the scary one) will even allow them to sit inside on bad weather days. But Target wont even allow them a bit of sidewalk when they try to sell them. So, no I will NOT shop in this local target. My dad spent 22yrs in, my Grandfather is a Korean Vet, and many more relatives spent time in WWII all the way to now, including my husband. They will not see a dime of my money at this local target. Which is a shame, they have such cute clothes. So, while up the cooperate ladder they might support Vets on a general role, there individual stores are responsible for day to day things like telling the Salvation Army no more kettles (the online angel program not withstanding) and not letting local vets sell poppy lapels is enough for me to not shop at this store. So yeah, I do know what I am talking about.

Am I being UnRealistic?
Pix replied to Marissa's Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honey you are not even a month out, 14lbs is awesome. Pat yourself on the back for the 14lbs!! Don't think of it as not enough, or some such, you are doing great!!! Look at it this way, you are loosing 1/2lb a day. That is amazing not slow. -
I don't really ever shop at Walmart (to far away to make it a bargain shopping experiance for me) or Kmart (the one here is scary) (sears bought out kmart not the other way around) I try to avoid target (they don't like Vets) So mainly for me its Fred Meyers and Amazon.. LOL

The only thing my surgeon said was carbinated as well. But he was also trying to treat me like a bypass patient (his main patient load are bypass) so I had to remind him a couple times I am a lap band patent not bypass. It got switched to what I can/can't tolerate and to never have carbonation again. *shrugs* Not that I care, don't care for soda's at all.

Three things that are driving me absolutely BATTY in these forums!!
Pix replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Rants & Raves
Fanny you forgot the is this normal questions. Well how do we know if it is normal or not?! We aren't doctors (most of us) and even if we were we aren't your personal physician/surgeon so we can't tell you if it is or not. We can only tell you our personal experiances. Which in the greater scheme of things might be reassuring for a bit, it does NOT equate to your doctor or surgeon. CALL YOUR DOCTOR. And the Help please, this hurts so bad ones. Eesh get your tushy to your doctor and or emergency room and get checked out if it is that bad!! I mean really, you are having major pain in your chest, or abdomen (or where ever) that wasn't there a few days ago, and this is killing you you are in so much pain. GO TO YOUR ER NOW don't post, don't wait to see if someone (who has never met you, isn't able to diagnose you cause they can't examine you) says it is bad or ok. JUST GO TO THE ER or make a same day appointment with your doctor, do not waste valuable time waiting to see what some person millions of miles away might say. There are a few more that get on my nerves but those two are the big ones. I can post the rest of you want to see me rant more -
Woot Grats! *sends speedy recovery joo joo*

Naw I love my moms birds, the green ones are rescued so they aren't people friendly. We have been working with them over the years and it is a slow process but they are getting there. One of the original owners mistreated them pretty bad, they have a fear of training gloves bad. So, needless to say my fingers have been bit alot. Not the moms though, they love her .. dang it .. LOL The Avatar is a flower .. dunno what kind though, just thought it was pretty :biggrin2:

Susan cause monday is busy pre-op days for them. It is a matter of trying to get in early enough so I don't have to wait for the other pre-op patients. I mean its not like I have to go through it all again, just the blood draws so I am HOPING and PRAYING they get me in as soon as I get there. I just don't want to hang around that long without my coffee. My surgeon did tell me that after I get off Clear liquids I can go back to my morning coffee. But he also told me that 1/2 cup will prolly have the same affect on me as 2-3 cups after lap band. When I told my hubby (in email) that, I could hear the groan all the way over here. LOL He says I am to wired as it is. LOL

Other then taking all danged morning the only thing pre-op I have left is the blood draws. :frown: They never told me to fast the night/morning of pre-op so I had my coffee, now Monday morning I have to go back in and give up my blood dang it, so another morning long and gone. They actually told me to expect to wait 2-3 hours from time of arrival until I actually get my blood drawn!!!!!! Not cool, but oh well. Other then that it is all still a go for Wed for me!! I call them Tuesday afternoon to get my check in time then go from there!! *dances* I just don't know if I will make it Monday going that long with out my coffee. Might get arrested for mass murder instead. Oh yeah, did anyone else get an EKG as part of your pre-op testing??? I had to have one, and they couldn't give me a good enough reason on why it was necessary other then "its procedure for bariatric patients". I just want to know if you had to have one if they said why?

Unless the shrink is being holier then thou know it all then find the silver lining in it all. You will be able to stem off any possible problems, and or you can take that extra time to make sure you have everything you need post op. Silver lining to everything, at least I try to think there is.

My mom has an African Grey, his name is Woody. THen there is the other two evil huge ass green parrots (no idea what they are I keep forgetting, but they are bigger then woody) and I can't remember there names .. damn .. I knew them when I started typing then as I started typing all I could imagine was running them over and getting revenge for the chunks missing out of my fingers .... Corky and Iris .. that is the names.

Do you have to have support?
Pix replied to JRT Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a loner too, I prefer to be by myself (I don't see that changing when I lose the weight either, I just don't like people en mass) BUT since I have young kids for the first couple of Days my Mom will be here with me, then I have a friend who has the non adjustable band picking up and dropping off my kids from school (until her TT that is) but by then I should be right as rain (almost anyways) so I can drive them to and from school. -
heh I can do better, my surgeon said I was a bariatrics surgeons dream cause I am so tiny wasted. pshhhh I hate being narrow in the waist and big in the rear .... to many inch's difference for my happiness. LOL

Like everyone said hun, DOCUMENT!! Go see your doctor, get a prescription for the rash/infection and make SURE its documented!! The more documentation you have that the excess skin is adversely affecting you the more likely you will get insurance to cover plastics!!

Goals...inspiration...dream outfit...etc...
Pix replied to pinkdots410's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dream outfit? Well it is already in my closet, its a size 12 brown chinese silk button down sleeveless dress I wore to get married in. AND I have a floor length tuxedo gown (size 12 again) I want to get into and have it look smashing on me like it did when I first bought it. Thats all, nothing I have to go out to buy, just two dresses I absolutely adore and refuse REFUSE to put in the good will bin. -
Well, I am not a nutritionist nor and I am doctor, but my take on it is they are trying to scare you into being faithful to the diet. BUT, I could be wrong, I don't even play a doctor on TV. My suggestion is order it ala carte as most restaurants allow ala carte orders. You can pretty much to to any restaurant and order ala carte from the menu. That way, you are eating the food you love, but doing it in such a way that you are not cheating nor endangering your pre-op diet meant to shrink the fat from your liver. Heck it might even be cheaper to do an ala carte order. If you are insistent on having the sauce with this meal then order it on the side in a ramekin. That way you will get a dab a bit of sauce on your meal with out the restaurant drowning it in sauce. The right answer is to always follow your dietitians and surgeons instructions. If all else fails see if you can get the menu online and bring it to the dietitian and see if you and she (he?) can work out what is best from the menu for you while you are on this stage of your pre-op diet. I forgot to add, that doing this would also show the team you are working with towards the lap band you are dead serious and really want this to become a reality.

We are all world class yo-yo dieters. I think we are all scared to fail on this one. All you can do is take it one day at a time, remember the scale is not your friend. I am addicted to mine, its a harsh reminder that all my life I have been battling this demon and it is winning at this stage of the game. But I got a secret weapon coming in in may and it will help me win the final battle with this. Just remember the Band is a tool to help you make the right and smart choices, and you can only take this one day at a time. If you start to feel stressed and overwhelmed take a step back, deep breaths and just remind yourself you can do this!! You have what it takes.

Susan Alaska is my home, where I come from we saw -75, but turn it around in the summer and we would see 90+. Now the coastal towns like Dutch you would see 80 on a excellent day, while in the winter it would get -30 easy. I am in Washington right now and hate it. A winter with out snow just isn't right. I am not talking a week or two where it snows an inch or two but back home saw a few feet in a couple of weeks. THAT is what I miss. I can't believe I said that, damn, I used to hate it always wanted to get the heck outa dodge, and now all I want to do is go back home. LOL
