Green Zone In 10 Cc Bands?

I have 5.45cc in a 10cc band and I have fairly good restriction most of the day. Nighttime I have to exercise self control. I can definitely eat more at night, but if I stick to measured portions I stay satiated. Head hunger is always my arch nemesis.
  4. Looking good! Congrats on your progress and new baby!!

What To Do When Food Gets Stuck?

I walk around. I sometimes raise my arms over my head and it helps with the pressure. Honestly, I rarely get stuck anymore. I am super careful to chew well. Unfortunately last might I took too big of a bite of dinner because I let myself get too hungry, and I was miserable stuck. I knew it as soon as a swallowed that I made a mistake and had rushed it. I had to help myself urp it up since the pain was bad and the sliming was filing my mouth.

    Has Anyone Tried Alcohol?

I drink very rarely, always have. I have not changed my habits with alcohol because of the band. Every few months I have cocktails with girlfriends or the occasional glass of wine with hubby. No difference for me. Congrats on the new job. Have your drink to celebrate!! Enjoy your life.

    Been A While...update

I was wondering where you went B52. Glad to see you are still doing well! Thank you for sharing your experience again. I am happy for you that your band will not let you overeat. That is awesome! Unfortunately that is not the experience I have had. Hopefully after my surgery to repair my hiatal hernia and reposition my band I will find that green zone too. In the meantime I work my ass off everyday to make smart decisions about what and how much to eat.
  8. It is about sticking to it and shrinking the liver. Everyone is different. And not all preops are the same. I did an Atkins like preop the month prior and lost 20 pounds. This time around I am on a self imposed preop and lost 5 last week and hope to lose 5 more this week. (only 2 weeks) Sounds like you are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!!

    Summer Challenge

Down 3 pounds to 308. Didn't quite make my goal of 306... but close enough considering i started the month off with a gain!! I am happy.
  10. Has anyone been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia after banding. Did you have it surgically repaired? Did that help with restriction and reflux? Did you opt for a different treatment? I was recently diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and severe esophagitis. My surgeon's options were unfilling my band completely, surgically fixing the hernia, or removing my band completely and surgically fixing the hernia. At first I was going to remove my band... but after some soul searching I decided to give it another shot. I made some changes to my diet and have had some relief from the reflux... and have had success with losing weight again. I have an appointment with my surgeon in a few weeks to discuss hernia repair surgery. I am not sure what to do. Right now I feel ok... but I wonder if repairing it will give me complete relief of my symptoms and help with more consistent restriction.

    Flipped Port???

Mine didn't flip but developed a leak. I had mine repaired under local anesthia. It was not a bad surgery at all. I chatted with my surgeon and joked around about how I was a malpractice lawyer *wink*. Now the recovery was pretty painful. I don't remember having that much tenderness at the port site the first time around. Still nothing that couldn't be handled with Advil and frozen peas.

    Abdominal Pain

Sounds like gallbladder pain to me. I had mine start about a month postoperative. Went through a bunch of tests to rule out the band. After about 5 months and 4-5 gallbladder attacks I was finally properly diagnosed with a HIDA scan. My gallbladder quit functioning. My pain was a quick onset, no trigger, intense burning sensation, nausea, sweats, felt like I had to grow up but couldn't. Horrible pain. I was begging for pain meds in ER. My attacks lasted between and hour to a couple of hours. Never 24+ hours. You need to get checked out ASAP of your pain is persistent. My husbands gallbladder ruptured and he was lucky to have caught it early.

Just Had My Gallbladder Removed! Ouch!

I had my gallbladder removed about 7 months after banding. It hurt waaaay worse than banding did. After Lapband surgery I never took pain meds, I was grocery shopping and cooking the next day, and one day 3 I was flying home. No problems. Gallbladder surgery I expected the same. Easy breazy. Not so much. I was in some pain. Actually took pain meds for a few days. Hang in there!! Banding for me was easier.

    Reheated Meats?

Reheating is tricky. You were given some good tips. I also nuke food until it is barely warm to keep from drying out. Keep in a lidded cracked container when reheating to maintain some moisture. My biggest tip... I combine eat bite with a little cottage cheese. Goes down much better.
  15. For my port replacement I used a bag of frozen peas and it helped immensely!

    Weighing ...

If you feel it is detrimental to your progress mentally... chuck it. Get weighed at your appointments only. Everyone is different when it comes to the scale. For me, if I avoid it, then I don't have accountability. I weigh myself daily, but only chart my Thursday weigh-ins since I was banded on a Thursday. I know my body really well. I know the amounts I fluctuate throughout the day and overnight. It gives ME peace of mind to weigh daily. 25 pounds in three weeks is amazing. Really truly amazing. If you can't see that, then yes, you need to step away from the scale. I wish you lots of success. Hang in there.
  20. No advice. Just wanted to post and say I am sorry you have to go through this. I hope it heals quickly and closes up.
