100 Degree Temp Outside, Have Me In Such A Rut!
adorkbl replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try not to focus on what you haven't done. Or how you might not meet your initial goals for the week. Look at the positive. You spent 20 minutes on the treadmill. You spent 2 hours outside in the heat with your kids. That is something. Probably more than you would have done in the past. As for tomorrow. You are already defeating yourself by deciding you won't feel like going. Don't do that. Stop that right now. Instead get yourself psyched up to go. Think about how GOOD you will feel after your go. You will have accomplished another goal. You will have energy from the workout. Get out of your head! I know it is hot... and that sucks. I live in Arizona, so I deal with that for months. Push through it. You CAN do it! -
I am so sorry you are having difficulties again. I would see if there is some way you can get an emergency unfill. Maybe a bariatric doctor where you are vacationing??

Who Needs To Lose 100 Lbs Or More?
adorkbl replied to ddrobins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a total of 214 pounds to lose. I lost 100... regained some... relost some. Currently 77 pounds down. Absolutely it is doable. Make sure you research what to expect. I struggled for a long time with unrealistic expectations. It is a lot of hard work. You still have to make healthy choices. You will need to exercise. The band will help you with hunger... but you can still sabotage yourself if you are not mentally ready to make a change. -
Glad you were able to get a slight unfill. Now you know you are close!! How exciting!!! Enjoy your holiday!

So sorry. I am feeling a little blue too. I am on pre-op diet and we are having a huge cookout. I am just going to swim and try to ignore the food.

So Frustrated With This Stupid Liquid Diet!!
adorkbl replied to shoppinmama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
drinks tons of Water. Lean Cuisines have lots of sodium. Also, try and choose Lean Cuisines low in carbs. Some of them have a lot of carbs. Don't stress. You are doing what you were directed to do. -

3 Months Into This Journey
adorkbl replied to mrspopeye's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats on your success !! Way to go after what you want. It took me two years to decide. Lol. -
It can happen if you eat too close to bedtime. If it persists or gets worse, call your doctor. If it is so bad you are waking up choking or coughing at might, talk to your doctor right away. Mine was te result of a hiatal hernia which I am having repaired surgically.

Is Eatting An I Know Its A Stuck Food Bad..?
adorkbl replied to dee257's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually I think it can hurt to do that. You will be continually aggravating your band and causing irritation and swelling. Long term that can only be a bad thing. Why risk a slip, erosion, reflux... just a few of the things that can go wrong. I understand the desire to try and make it easier. But it is not worth risking long term damage to your health. Instead, concentrate on cultivating healthy eating habits. Good luck! -
Don't Sell Yourself Short - How Much Have You Really Lost
adorkbl replied to elcee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Starting weight 384 lb Current weight 307 lb Total lost 77 lb Percentage of weight lost 20% Still a work in progress. I'm am starting over. At one point I was down to 284 which was 26%. -
I'm 5'8 Started @384 size 30 Now @307 size 24

I have heard of people filling past capacity. Which to me sounds scary as hell. I would have your doctor check your current level. It is possible some fill has left the building after a few years. Good luck!

Jim is right (I get what you are saying), the full feeling is not the same. You are not going to get that full belly I just ate the whole Thanksgiving turkey feeling. It is much much more subtle. My most frequent soft stop signal is a sigh. If I ignore that one I might get a runny nose. Of I really push it, I get the hiccups. And by push it it, I mean ignore my soft stops. Sometimes if I just take too big of a first bite, I get stuck right off the bat. And that is a miserable miserable experience. I can't overeat like I used to unless it is slider foods or I am eating and eating and eating over a long period of time. You need to concentrate on satiety. Stop eating when you get that soft signal. Listen to your body and not your brain. My brain always wants more. Because it tastes good. Because it is there. My brain is what got me to 384 pounds. Sounds like you need more restriction if you are able to overeat.

Considering Getting The Surgery But So Many ???
adorkbl replied to Krissy89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree 100% with Jen. Make sure your brain is in check before surgery. I had my surgery 4 years ago and did extremely well initially. I lost 100 pounds. However, mentally I just wasn't ready. I hit my milestone and then let go. Granted I had some complications with my gallbladder, leaky port, port replacement surgery, and now hiatal hernia surgery. But my head was not in the game. The last few months since my recent issues with the hiatal hernia, I have gotten my head together and am doing quite well again. I never expected to be going in for my 4th surgery in as many years. Prior to banding I never even had as much as a broken bone. But you know what... I am healthier that where I was. Even if I never lost another pound, I am 75 pounds lighter and that is nothing to sneeze at. I make healthier choices everyday and I feel better. I am not even worried about hanging skin. I will cross that bridge when it comes. Clothes can hide some of that and the main thing is I will be healthier still!! Even with my complications, I probably would still make the same decision. No surgery is perfect. No surgery is complication free. In the big picture, I am far better off than some. Yes, be realistic. But don't not do it because you are scared. You can't move forward if you don't take a step. Good luck with your decision!! -
Another vote for too tight. Even the tiniest of fluid removed can make a huge difference. .1cc or .2cc. Definitely call your doctor.
-
I weigh and measure to "test" my restriction. I want to see if I will stay satiated on proper amount. I still have a tendency to slowly increase my amount if I don't monitor it closely. So I try and measure a few times a week.

I tried to get a job there for the insurance!! But I never got called. Frustrating. They have excellent benefits!! Hope you hear something soon.
-
Congrats I guess? Lol. I have one too... but I am 4 years post op. I am having mine repaired Monday and my band will be repositioned then. Luckily my insurance is covering it!! I was self pay and worried they wouln't cover the repositioning.
-
I lost 20 on my preop (one month) and an additional 30 pounds over the next 2 months. I started with a high BMI though. Then it slowed down and it took me another 2 months to lose another 10 pounds. About 16 months to lose 100.

Has Anybody Lost A Lot A Weight And Gained Most Of It Back?
adorkbl replied to ImSoMotivated's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost 100 pounds and regained 54. Sucks to work so hard to lose the weight again. But I am. Slowly. I recommitted about 3 months ago when I thought I might lose my band. I have re-lost 25 pounds. It has been hard... but I am just done with letting food control me. I am not happier when I eat ****. Well I am for the moment I eat it and then I am depressed. So enough of that vicious cycle!! You can absolutely do this!! You did it once. Stay focused! -
After Reaching My Goal Weight Labband Slips - Should I Do Revision Surgery Or Leave It Alone?
adorkbl replied to GipsyGirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
If it was covered... I would do it. But that is me. Do you feel like you can maintain without the band? How long do you have to make decision? Can you see how you do with no fill for awhile? Sorry about your slip. Good luck with your decision. -
Welcome Colleen!!

Not Sure If I Wanna Tell My Family And Friends
adorkbl replied to knknosmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I initially didn't want to tell anyone except my husband. I didn't want to have to explain myself, or have people judge me. Then we had to let my husbands aunt and uncle know because we stayed with them since my surgery was out of state. Eventually as my surgery got closer I became more comfortable sharing with close family. They were supportive... for the most part. Now I can care less who knows. I don't advertise it, but I don't care what people think anymore. It is actually nice to have the support!! Sometimes it is frustrating when I am eating and have a semi-stuck episode where I slow way down... I constantly get asked if I am ok. A few family members are always watching me eat and asking how it is going... during dinner... that can get old. I have had several complications and my journey has been up and down. I am having my 4th surgery next week. So I don't think I could have kept it secret at this point!! Lol. It really is a personal decision. Do what is comfortable for YOU!! Good luck with your decision!! Oh... my surgery was outpatient. It depends on the doctor and insurance.
