    Deathly afraid of death!

Wayne: It wasn't my post. Well this one isn't. (hope your not referring to something else... :scared:) Anyway... for what it is worth, I was not offended by your post whatsoever. I am as non-religious as they come, but I have no problems whatsoever with someone discussing how they felt or feel. That is why I am here. I am glad you had comfort in your beliefs on the day of surgery. :biggrin1:

    Deathly afraid of death!

This is a GREAT way to view it. Thank you SO much. This has calmed my fears. Well for now. Tomorrow is a new freak out day! Heh.
  4. That's what I meant. If the band blocks it... then we are stuck taking anti nausea meds to prevent it. So how does that harm us in the long run? I hope you didn't take my post as being negative towards you, that wasn't my intent. I am just thinking out loud and trying to figure out any and all complications that I may have after the surgery. I go back and forth between freaking out and being 100% on board.
  5. Mona: I am so sorry to hear about your complications! :cry I was wondering why you haven't posted and was hoping it was just because of the holidays. Hopefully insurance will cover your complications because it was an emergency. *crossing fingers* for you. Viri: I am very fortunate she is offering to loan me the funds. I wish she were paying for it outright... but I would probably die of shock if that happened! :faint:
  6. This may sound like a dumb question, but if your body needs to vomit, and you stop it with an anti nausea medication, isn't that unhealthy for your body? Where does the vomit go. doesn't it need to get out? I know vomiting is bad or the band, but what about vomit sitting in your body? What about the toxins it was trying to expel? KWIM?
  7. Shelbie: Thanks. I feel better today. Talked with my hubby again last night and he is still 100% on board. I think I strayed too long over on the complications side of this board and my mind started running away. I have since reeled it in and am feeling much better. I am just going to have to hope that I fall into the no complications percentage. I am very confident in Dr K... and that is a large part of the battle, finding a competent surgeon.
  8. I just weighed myself for the first time since starting my pre-op diet. Now mind you, about 3 weeks ago I started making changes in my diet... biggest of which was cutting out all sweets. No more pints of Ben & Jerry's everynight, that one was HARD, ice cream is my crack! I was very hopeful I would see a change and I DID! I lost 5 lbs! :clap2: Woo hoo! I know it isn't much, but I am thrilled to see a difference already on the scale. For the past few days I have been doing low carb, high Protein while subbing Breakfast with a Protein Drink in the AM. I let myself enjoy Christmas and probably ate one too many Peanut Butter Cookies... but I didn't want to stress myself over it too much. I was a tad worried that would erase any good I did over the past few weeks, I am lucky it didn't seem to! Now if I could just get my butt moving on exercise.

    My blender SUCKS

Read the reviews. Seems like a lot of people have had issues with some rubber rings breaking or sliding down and jamming the blades. Enough un-happy reviews that I am going to check out somehting else. Thanks for the link!

    My blender SUCKS

I was just crabbing about my blender last night! Is the bullet as great as they advertise? I have a hamilton beach and HATE it. Never blends the ice up very well. Grrrr.

    Today was the day...

Congrats Tracy! Glad to hear everything went well!
  13. Every surgeon is different. Please communicate with your surgeon and see if you can still move forward with your date. My surgeon just requires low carb / high Protein to reduce the liver size. NO bread, NO Pasta, NO potatoes and NO rice for 2 weeks. I started a week and half early to ensure my liver is healthy since my BMI is high. When I talked with him the other day he assured me liquid diet is not necessary, but getting the liver to shrink is essential! He HAS had to cancel a surgery because someone did not follow the diet. He said when he got in there; he could not elevate her liver and had to discontinue the operation. I would rather be up front with my surgeon than not say anything and have issues during surgery. Good luck!
  14. Thanks! I just ordered this!
  15. Ok I am in a bit of a freak out mode right now. This always happens to me when I need to make a major decision, but I really don't have anyone to turn to to really work through this. My husband is very supportive and helpful, but I want the opinion of someone who has been there, done that. I am started to second guess my decision. I am worried about complications and what will happen financially if they happen. My insurance covers LapBand but my employer has an opt out clause, so I am self pay. I am assuming this means I have to pay for any and all expenses related to my band that may come up after surgery? So if I have complications and end up with an infection, or some other ailment, am I responsible for all those bills?! Did anyone else freak out over that prospect? Or are situations that arise later covered if they are medical emergencies regardless of who paid for the surgery initially? I know I should be asking my insurance this question, but for some reason I feel like the people I talk to there have no idea about my policy and answer generically. Just because "Sam" told me so on the phone isn't going to pay my bills if they decide to bill me. KWIM? This really has me worried. I am stretching already to pay for this surgery; I can't imagine what it would do to us if I ran into serious complications. Advice? Words of wisdom? Thanks! L
  16. bahot: I am in Tucson, AZ... about a 13 hour drive to Aurora. We decided to fly this time so I don't have to drive after surgery. I may drive for follow up care though, we'll see! Luckily my husband's aunt lives in Aurora so I have a place to stay. I have never met her, so it will be interesting meeting under these circumstances. Where do you live?

    The reality of pictures

I lost 50lbs two years ago. I never saw the difference. I knew my clothes fit a little bit better... but my brain never caught up. Then I gained it all back. Once I was back where I started.... I realized the difference. But it was too late. My clothes didn't fit anymore, and I was feeling tired and fat again. I am so mad that I couldn't see/feel the change when I made it. I would have kept going, and stayed on track! I think that is why I have such a hard time maintaining because I felt like I wasn't making headway, so I gave up. Now in hindsight I am like wow, that was a huge chunk of weight. So ignore the pictures if you don't see it. If someone is telling you they see it, believe them! Eventually your head will catch up and you will be glad you listened to the positive feedback and kept chugging along! I wish I had! Now I have to start all over again.

Losing on pre-op diet... so excited!

    Awesome Red. Way too go.
  20. Thanks Tracy. Think I will give the Grape Frost a try.
  21. Welcome bahot! You date is very close! How exciting. I decided to go ahead and tell my immediate family (sisters, mom etc) and a select few friends. It worked out in my favor because my mom is helping me with the money and I can pay her back. Saving me lots of $$ in interest. Otherwise I really don't feel like everyone knowing. I don't want everyone watching me and expecting my weight to melt off, because this is going to be a LONG journey.

Losing on pre-op diet... so excited!

Thanks Red! Wow... you are pre-band and lost over 65lbs! That is amazing. How did you do it? I was able to lose 50lbs once about 2 years ago but gained it all back. Kudos to you!
  23. I am assuming since I like/don't mind the Isopure protein powder that I will also like/not mind the CLEAR drink. Is this a safe assumption?
  24. Thanks guys! Can't wait to get to the other side. I am struggling a tiny bit with my pre-op diet... mostly fighting "head hunger". I did decent tonight subbing my normal bad stuff with half a cup of cottage cheese and some cherry tomatoes! I know technically I don't have to start for another week, but I am so ready to begin this journey... why wait. Brandy: I live in Tucson. Mesa is about an hour and fifteen minutes from me. I know Mona is from the Phoenix area. I would love to meet up with a fellow bandster! I am not really telling many people about my surgery so sharing the journey with someone is welcome!
  25. Hey all... I had my phone consult with DrK today. I am feeling so much better about everything. He answered my long list of questions and put me at ease about my high BMI, my sleep apnea, etc. etc. I am completely comfortable now going forward with this procedure and am so glad I picked DrK!!
