    Lots to lose

Hi ladies! I need to lose about 190 still. I am so glad to see others that are having great success! Juli~ thanks so much for these words: "Also, I got this attitude that I've had surgery ***SURGERY*** to lose weight therefore I need to everything within my power to be successful." I will remember this when I have rough days!
  2. Oh... just wanted to add. I am SOOOOO ready for this journey now! I am over my whole freak out and cannot "weight" (*snicker*) to get on the other side! :not_ripe::Banane07::Banane28: :) :Banane44::Banane04::Banane02::Banane33:
  3. LapDancer~ I hope you have good sucess walking with the hubby. I keep telling my husband we should go for walks and he is like, "Yeah, that sounds great." But we never do. Either too tired, or yadda yadda some other excuse. It is so gorgeous here that we really have no excuse! threedogpeople~ Thanks so much for the recipe for the mashed cauliflower! I have a head in my fridge that I was going to toss soon because I hadn't yet chopped it up and wasn't sure what to do with it! lol. I am going ot try it tommorrow for dinner. Amieru~ Isn't Dr K da bomb! I can't wait to meet him in person. I can't believe my surgery is NEXT week! ACK! I also started my pre-op diet sooner than he required and so far have lost about 16lbs. I will weigh myself again this weekend and then I guess I will see where I "really" am when I get to his office. I am too heavy for my scale at home and I have been using an old old one here at work so I am not sure how accurate it is. Congrats on your weight loss! Keep up the good work. I am hoping it will make things easier to transition once I get banded. *** Wish I could do Red Robin with y'all. Would be so fun to meet. I won't be in town until next week though. If anyone wants to meet up again next week... I'm in!
  4. Happy Birthday Michelle! :) Not much new here. Just a waiting on my Surgery date. Next week already! Waa hoo!

    Logging Food and Activity?

Yes, very vigilant about it! I use SparkPeople.com and LOVE it!

    Liquid protein?

It is on my post-OP diet. Protein shakes 3x a day, between meals. I am not sure I will do three a day, but I will probably continue my Isopure in the AM like I am now. It is quick, keeps me full until lunch. I am not a morning person!

That is a bummer. So sorry.

    Which would you choose?

Neither. I would get an ellipitical in a heartbeat!
  10. Bahot: glad you are doing well! Your husband sounds like a doll. Mine already does the laundry so I guess it will be same ole same ole at our house once I get banded. hee hee.
  11. I have been doing the low carb diet required which is pretty easy for me. I started a week early to make sure I was doing it right so I could have my nutritionist go over my food log. Everynow now and then I crave a carb, but I haven't cracked and for the most part it has been really a piece of cake. Mmmm.... cake. Why did you have to say cake!?
  12. Welcome Sunshine. Glad you found your way here.

    Am I Eating Too Much?

GNC Isopure Protein is 50 grams of Protein. You can mix it with 8oz or 12oz of Water. I mix it with 8oz of Soy milk and bit of ice in the blender. I have this in the morning and it fills me up! I am a big girl. No problems staying satisfied on that amount of protein. The "pouch" they are referring to is the stoma that is formed over the band. You don't want your stoma to have to "churn" or work to digest any food. It needs to heal. That is why it is imperative you only drink liquids that can pass through the opening.

    I am home!

Yeah! Congrats. Glad to hear you are doing well.
  15. I did two years ago. Did all the research, decided on it, then started losing on my own; so I decided not to do it. Lost just over 50 lbs and was doing great. Then I moved across the country and fell off track with my diet and exercise and regained everything and then some. So this time I am sticking with it. Surgery is in 2 weeks. I know I can do it; I just need the tool to keep me on track and help keep me from getting complacent and re-gaining again. Best of luck with your decision!

    Self Payers?

If you are willing to fly, Dr Kirshenbaum in Aurora, Co does his surgery for $9950. Includes all pre-op and fills for 3 months after. After the 3 month period fills are only $15. His staff is WONDERFUL and he has been so awesome over the phone. I have talked to several surgeons and he has been my favorite thus far. (that is why I picked him!) I am traveling from AZ. He has patients form all over the country. I got my surgery scheduled within a month from when I called. I had done a lot of research prior, and attending several different seminars, so I was comfortable with a quick banding once I made the decision. Check him out: Dr Kirshenbaum
  17. Marcy~ LMAO over the low toilet comment. I totally GET that. We remodeled our old bathroom in Milwaukee and got one of those chair height toilets. That thing was wonderful! Never thought I would miss a toilet. Viri~ My surgery is also on a Thursday at 1pm. I am leaving on a Sunday (but we are visiting family in town). If we weren't doing the family thing I would probably have scheduled Saturday. give yourself the extra time. Bahot~ So glad you are feeling well! Congrats on making it to the other side and starting your new journey! Brandy~ Awesome job on inching closer to ONEderland. That is such a far away dream of mine; I can't imagine your excitement! Way to go! Well I mailed off my check yesterday, so I guess I am done with the second guessing myself. I am more excited now than freaked, relieved my emotions seem to have settled a bit. Hopefully it will stay that way! I also had the pleasure of meeting Miss Mona last night. She and her husband were both a delight and it was plain eerie how much in common we have. I am relieved to have found an ally fairly close to home! She looks great and you would never know she just spent 5 days in the hospital!
  18. Everything looks really dry and brown right now since it is January... but the view at the top was worth it!
  19. Yeah Marcy on the exercise! That rocks! Feels good doesn't it. I decided to walk to my mailbox today! ha ha. Pathetic really since it is at the end of the block. So I upped the anty and went on a 1 mile hike with my mom and my sister at a local National Park. Kicked my butt!! But I did it! I was feeling so motivated I decided to buy a year pass for the parks so hubby and I can go hiking a few times a week.
  20. Woofay... ewww Moose shakes. Blech! lol... think I lost my appetite. Well gang I get to update my weight! I am now done 16lbs from my all time high! Woo hoo. I am confident the majority of it is from this pre-surgery diet. So glad I started it early. I have been eating between 900-1100 calories a day with NO bread, pasta, rice or potatoes. i am sure I would have cracked by now if it wasn't for worrying about shrinking my liver enough!

    before pictures

    Gosh everyone is so cute!
  22. I lived in WI for 30 years... minus the 4 years I lived in MN for college. I have been in AZ for a little over a year. BEST move I ever made. Soon to second best after lapband though... So yeah, I am gonna boast ALL I want!! Tee hee! *muah* QUESTION: Does everyone here sick to the protein drink between meals the Dr.K and Paula suggest/require? I have seen a lot of debate over tis issue. Happy NEW YEAR Everyone!
  23. Thanks. No diarrhea here thankfully. My stomach seems to have settled a bit. I may try something else when my Isopure is gone. My Dr. requires a Protein shake between meals so I need to find something that works.

    OK, Fellow New Years Knockouts

    YEah!! Congrats.
  25. Marcy: ZERO? Oye! So glad I am no longer up north. I couldn't stand the cold. Loving this 60-70 degree weather in AZ  Do they make iron supplements? Something chewable that isn't nasty, or powder that can be mixed into a shake? good luck with getting your iron up. :scared:
