1. Sunshine: Sorry no advice, I don't get banded until Thursday... just wanted to give you a ((hug)) and let you know I hope you feel better soon!
2. I know a lot of us New Year's Knockouts were using the boxing smiley. Well LBT nixed it for some reason, along with a lot of others. Sooo... I uploaded it to tinypic.com. Here is the link... just take the space out after IMG for it to work: http://i2.tinypic.com/71ftheq.gif Enjoy!

It was GREAT while it lasted

I am so sorry. Glad to hear you are doing ok! That sounded scary.
4. Oh and I don't mind you asking. I am a pretty open person! No worries!
5. My old agency in Wisconsin I dispatched for both police and fire. We had a small chart that would help us ascertain what level of medical response we would send, but we did not give pre-arrival instructions to callers. Now when I get medical calls, we patch into the fire department and they are trained to issue pre-arrival instructions. I dispatch strictly police at my new agency. It can be challenging, but it is also very boring the majority of the time. Like right now, VERY slow (which I know is a good thing). Gives me plenty of time to research though!
6. Nope. You cannot ask what I do for a living. Bwahahahaa. JK. I am a Dispatcher for a Police Department. Been doing it for 6+ years. 5 years in WI, and now a little over a year here in AZ. Love my job! :myscared: Although my degree is in Art. I actually have to get a second job to pay my surgery bill so I am thinking of becoming a part time Art Teacher.
7. Thanks Dee. I just hope that Dr. K's scale is as generous as the one here at work!! LMAO. :myscared: I have watched that show and I thought it was great! I wish that shows like that would make a difference in our society. Sadly they probably won't even make a dent. I am so glad that she felt so much better about herself after. I hope it lasts! And that the everyday, nitty gritty doesn't dull her new spark.
8. Denise... do it! You will feel so much better. I am loving doing the Couch to 5K program. Keeps me pumped up! Great news everyone. I am down another 4 pounds!!! The scale was moving a little (non digital) so I am being conservative and will use the higher number! Waa hoo. That make me 20lbs down from my all time high! 4 pounds this last week. Totally contributing that to the exercise I added in. Hubby even said my clothes look like they are fitting better, and they are! My jeans I pulled on without unbuttoning! These were TIGHT. Leave a red mark tight. I am stoked! I can't wait to get banded! :myscared:
9. I consider myself lucky that I only had to cut carbs out! I added a week extra to my pre-op just because my BMI is so high. I also cut out all sugars. It was hard. I cried last night because I just freaking want a sandwich!! A stupid sandwich! I don't even LIKE bread but boy do I crave it right now. Thankfully my surgery is this Thursday so I only have a few more days until hopefully I will be sore and not wanting to eat for awhile! Then I have to worry about bandster hell!

Dr just recommended Bypass

I too was told I would be more successful with RNY by a surgeon I consulted. Needless to say I didn't go back to that surgeon, she was not listening to me, and what I wanted. I have a HUGE sweet tooth and RNY has dumping syndrome. So yeah, of course that would be an easier fix for that issue. But I was not willing to cut up my innards. Period. Not an option for me. And I don't care that the lap band takes longer to lose. I don't want to be malnourished and drop 100 lbs in a few months. That is NOT healthy. I am very excited for my upcoming surgery and have already kicked my sweet tooth out of my life. No sugar or sweets in a month! The lap band will give me the control I need when it comes to portions. You have to do what you are comfortable with. Don't let anyone talk you out of or in to something else. Do your research! Figure out what you think will work for you. The only right answer is what is RIGHT for YOU.
11. Dee: Wow... that had to be so frustrating to be so close and then have to wait all over again. Wow. More power to you for sticking it out so long!!! Sorry I left hastily last night. Since I have moved to the midnight shift hubby and I don't get our nightly pillow talk time anymore and well, he was giving me the look when he went to bed. Needless to say I logged off without a goodbye. Sorry! My surgery is at the Aurora Surgery Center, so I guess we will be missing each other. I missed the Red Robin group by a week. Booo. Woofay: Dr. K is apparently doing a phone follow up, unless I feel like I need to be seen. So I won't be at his office on Friday. Bummer. I will look into flying out of Phoenix for my follow-ups if it is that much cheaper. Thanks for the tip. I could have gotten cheaper tickets on Frontier, direct out of Tucson, but I couldn't get into Denver soon enough for my pre-op appointment and couldn't take an extra day off of work to leave earlier. Oh well. I am totally bummed about the smilie section. :frown: My boxing smilie is gone. Boo hoo. So many fun ones are gone. At least the bananas are still there! Congrats on making it under your drivers license weight! Wheeee. How fun! Brandy: CONGRATS! That is awesome. Way to go on getting to ONE-derland! Bahot: How are you feeling? How is your post op diet going??
12. I have issues with the keeping it off too! lol. Hence the LapBand. No, no fruit, no yogurt, no sugar, no carbs. It has been soooo hard! I miss my yogurt. I miss my morning oatmeal. I miss sandwiches! i just keep telling myself it will be worth it! Hang in there. I wish I lived in ABQ! Holy smokes that is cheap. It is costing hubby and I $460 to fly from Tucson to Denver. How come your surgery was postponed last time?
13. Dee I started a little over a week early. I am down 16 since my shocking, earth shattering, life changing all time high that I hit at the Dr office in November. That is what got the ball rolling for me. Not sure how much of the loss is a direct result of my pre-op. Either way I'll take it!!! We are flying in on Wednesday afternoon. After reading Mona's tale, I decided I wasn't up for the drive through the mountains if bad weather hit. I had enough of that driving back and forth in bad weather when I would go home to WI from MN during the holidays.
14. Its going really well... thanks for asking! My surgery is Thursday! Eik! I am down 16lbs since my last weigh in, but I haven't weighed myself in a week. Tomorrow I will at at work. I am hoping for a few more pounds due to starting the couch to 5k program this week!!
15. Mal ~ I had looked into a cancer walk too but it was for 3 days and you needed to raise $2500 or you couldn't walk. Same thing with the camp at night etc. Decided to not do it this year, maybe next year. Good luck with your elliptical goals. I adore the elliptical (hate the treadmill.... booooring) and wish I had access to the gym I used to when I lived in WI. Can't afford one right now.

Couch to 5K

Well.... you all have inspired me! I started the Couch to 5K program today. I am siked! I did 1.2 miles today. Half walking, half jogging. I was pooped when I came home. lol To help really motivate myself, I registered for the Run Down Crime 5K they are holding in Tucson for the Tucson Police Association. The run is in September so I have LOTS of time to get ready! This is my main exercise goal for the year. I MUST do this! No failing allowed. I am doubling up the program sice I am SOOOO out of shape. So I am stretching it to 18 weeks.
17. Anita~ that is so awesome!!! Way to go on the NSV!!!! Well ladies I started the Couch to 5K program today. I am siked! I did 1.2 miles today. Half walking, half jogging. That seems like the impossible dream!

My highest was 384. I want to get to 177 (personal goal). According to the charts I should strive for 150. Either way, by their charts or my goal, it will be over 200 lbs to lose. I try not to think about it in that way or it seems too overwhelming. I have already lost some pre-op and I now only (only.. ha ha) need to lose 191 to get to my goal. We can do this guys!
19. adorkbl

Well, I Lost my band last week

 oh no. I am so sorry.
20. I am in the camp that I don't really care, so he knows. It is obvious I am fat! lol. He doesn't need to hear the number to know that.

Getting really nervous!

I was soooo in freak out mode last week. I have finally calmed down now and I can assure that you will too. I had gotten to the point in my research where I was reading A LOT of the complications and negative posts. I had to stop over analyzing and remember WHY I started this journey in the first place! Now I can't wait!
22. adorkbl

I did it!

Thanks for sharing your story! Congrats, glad to hear you are doing well.

before pictures

Ok... I am biting the bullet and posting my picture. This is from last week.
24. Hey all... Mona wants me to post this. This a picture from our dinner the other night. Like I mentioned, she is a sweetheart and we had such a good time connecting! Hopefully some day I can look back on this picture and say that was waaaaay back when i was fat.

Feeling Betrayed!

I can totally sympathize. I told very few people. Husband, sisters, mother and hubby's parents. I also decided to confide in my step mom because we are close. I told her that I was only telling select people. Told her WHY I was only telling select people. Well I got a Christmas card from my step mom's mother, so I guess my Grandma by marriage. Anyway, I get a card saying my step mom told the family over Christmas about my venture to Colorado (where my surgeon is) and how they all had me in their prayers. I was livid! I did NOT want everyone knowing. Now I don't know whether to say something to her or not. At this point I feel like what the hell... might as well tell everyone, but I don't want to. I don't see that side of the family much anymore since I moved across the country. It really upsets me though because I don't want to feel like I have to explain it to them when I do. Ah well. It is the nature of the beast. If you tell one person you have to be prepared to tell them all.
