Post-op: So depressed... so lost
adorkbl replied to adorkbl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kelle: I wasn't sure if the pill would be too big. It really is not a large pill, so I think I will be ok. I plan on starting it back up... or perhaps looking into an alternative someone suggested. -

I didn't try to get off them after surgery. I went off them in March because of some BAD advice from my RE. (Reproductive Endocrinologist) I have been doing well managing up until now. -

I hope the body they found is her and that she can finally get justice. That man is a wack job. -
Banded with the possibility of a career in law enforcement
adorkbl replied to Freebird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a dispatcher, have thought about moving over to the "other side" and become an officer but weight was always an issue. I may consider it still once I get down to my goal... but I love my current job too much me thinks. I don't think the band would give you any issues what so ever. Best of luck in your endeavors! -
lol Suzzzie... I am surprised at how many people come on here after 40 pages and ask what it is. Doi!

I was selfpay. My cost was $9950 for the pre-op visit, nutritionist consultation (via phone), surgery, and 3 months of fills. Any fills after the initial 3 months are $15 for the life of the band. MY surgeon didn't do pre-op testing. I was nervous about that, but he explained to me about it during the pre-op consultation and I was comfortable with his reasoning. My BMI was 57 when he operated. I have sleep apnea and borderline hypertension... but otherwise in good health. I don't believe he requires co-morbidities.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
adorkbl replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
*snort* Oh my Mona... your post has me rolling. Lap.. sorry you are not feeling well. I hope oyu feel better soon. Try some hot soup, will calm the throat and hopefully nix the nausea. I need help ladies! So I weighed myself today again... just for shits and giggles and it says I am down another 7 pounds since Wednesday. That just seems insane to me. That means I would have lost 13lbs since last Friday. Think my scale is wonky? That is so unhealthy. I need to get more protein in, I am not getting enough nutrition in period. I had one packet of instant oatmeal, half of a muscle milk, and a can of blended vegetable soup yesterday. That was it. Barely any fluid intake. Bad Lori. I need suggestions on what I can do to increase my intake. I am sure this is why I am depressed. I just don't feel like eating though. -

I just want to say thank you to everyone who responded. It got worse before it got better last night. Hubby came home and started cooking in front of me and I got upset so I went to the bedroom so I didn't have to smell it. He didn't even come to check on me. In all fairness I just glared at him and went to our bedroom, so my communication skills with him were inappropriate. Needless to say we had a little tiff by the time he came to bed four hours later. I was so upset that he completely ignored me all night after I had emailed him how depressed I was. I was a crying mess and my poor stomach was sore by the time I calmed down. I hope I did not do any damage by being so upset. We have worked it out, and I am feeling better this morning. I still have some of my antidepressants left, so I think I will try going back on them gradually. The kind of behavior I was exhibiting last night was not fair to my husband and was a past indicator of when things were heading downhill. Anyone here take Zoloft? I think if I start off on half a pill again I will be good until I can get in to see my Dr. I think half a pill will be small enough to swallow. Thanks again everyone. Today is a new day and I plan on pulling my bootstraps up and getting back in the game. -

Thanks Nikki. I go back to work tomorrow so I am sure that will help. Sitting home alone all week is depressing. Today is the first day I actually feel hungry and I want to eat something. I am so sick of liquids. Think that is a large source of the frustration. I should organize and clean, but I don't want to overdo it so soon after surgery. -

Fatwidow thanks for asking about the port. I feel much better since it has been explained and now that you asked. I got a Bodybugg y'all! I am so stoked! I think it is still too early to get back into my couch to 5K routine, but I plan on walking again until I feel up to running. Can't wait to get my Bugg. Anyone else have one? -
Yeah.... the recipe is THAT good that I had to bring a bit of seriousness into the thread.

new and questions in Easy Valley AZ
adorkbl replied to wantolose155's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I used Dr Kirshenbaum and will be going to Dr Berger for fills and followup. He is in Flagstaff, uses Fluoro for all fills. I just went with another Dr K patient for her first fill with Dr Berger and I was very impressed. I think the combo of Dr K and Dr B will be a lot cheaper than going through Dr Blackstone. If $$ is an issue to you. It was to me. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr K. He is extremely skilled. But you are right, it is not cost effective to return to CO for aftercare. -
Viri I have a EXCELLENT fish recipe. Everyone I make it for LOVES it. I eyeball it, so I don't have exact measurements. Honey Glazed Salmon Salmon Fillet (whatever size you want) Honey Dijon Mustard Worcester Sauce Mrs Dash Onion & Herb Salt & Pepper Mix equal parts Dijon Mustard and Honey in a small dish. (maybe around 1T each) Then add in Worcester Sauce to taste. (so the consistency of the mixture is almost like a runny yogurt) Salt and Pepper the Salmon Fillets Brush Honey mixture on the fillets Sprinkle Mrs Dash Onion & Herb mixture lightly over top Bake in the oven at 400 for appox 15 minutes for each inch of thickness on the fillets. I always bake for 17 minutes, and it comes out perfect... flaky & moist. Yumm yumm. That is pretty much I, sorry for the butchered post. I kinda ended up on this recipe after trial and error. I can't wait till I can have it again! Was a staple on my pre-op!

ok... I just bought one off another LBT'r. I figured what they hell... what is another $180 when I already spent 10K on the surgery. My goal is to run a 5K in September and I hope the Bugg will help me get there.
-
Suzzzie... what if they give you the password to use their remaining subscription? Doesn't everyone have to pay the yearly fee even if it is bought new? Someone on LBT is selling theirs for $175 with 1 month remaining on the initial registration. Is that not a good deal?

I got your PM. Thanks! yes I have been there... can't wait til they get more stuff in. My close friend lives in Copper Creek.

Tied~ Awesome job on the weigh loss! Woo hoo. 5 days! -
Hi guys. I know I am late to this thread... but was wondering if you all started up a group or not? I live on the NW side of Tucson and would love some band buddies. Wilem: I am a scrapbooker also!

Ironically I just finished reading this thinking I hadn't had a movement either (7 days post-op) when I had the urge. So now I can say it took me 7 days. And all was hunky dory... not painful. Hope it all works out for you soon!

Didn't take a photo with the clear bandages on. Darn it! It was much yuckier looking! lol. Took them off finally yesterday. Here is my belly today, ONE WEEK POST-OP.
-
Tried Muscle Milk yesterday and was so gassy and nauseous. Grrr. Need to find a way to get Protein in! Had half a can of cream of chicken soup today. It was soooo good. About halfway through I had to take a deep breath, kinda sighed... realized I was done. So weird!

Banded on 1/18--feeling dizzy??
adorkbl replied to alldunn33's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on 1/17. Welcome! How much nutrition are you getting in daily?? Just because you are not hungry doesn't mean that you shouldn't eat. Make sure you are following your post-op diet and are getting enough nutrients in. I am also never or rarely hungry but I make sure to get my nutrition in. Albeit probably still not enough.
