How do you feel about other people's weight loss?
adorkbl replied to Fanny Adams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it is a natural response. Or maybe I just wish it were. I noticed the bitchy little voice in my head as my older sister started losing weight recently. I wanted to say hey... it is MY turn for people to notice ME. Oye... I really had to give myself a mental head slap for that. I am honestly happy for her and proud of her. I noticed recentaly one of my overweight friends treating me a bit different. When I told her about my new clothes size and how excited I was, instead of congratulating me, she made sure to mention she was still one size smaller than me. I was disappointed... but like I said, I think women tend to be competative and sensitive about weight. *shrug* -

Ok ladies.... this is the list as I have it right now, alphabetized for your reading pleasure. :Banane34: Please let me know if I left anyone off. Our first weigh in will be this monday!! Lets just use that as our "starting weight" since it will be exactly 4 weeks from the ending weigh in. I think we should post our actual weights if everyone is ok with that. I also thought it might be fun to add an exercise challenge in. Like everyone make a goal for themselves whether it be as simple as taking a walk 3 times a week, or going to the gym X times a week. I am going to make my goal to walk everyday with Sophie for at least 1 hour. :huh2: I also want to start working on my ginormous arms so I am going to add in strength training 3 times a week. LABOR DAY 4 WEEK CHALLENGE  (monday weigh-ins) adorKable | 10 lbs | 1 hr walk daily | strength 3x week bahotmomma | 5lbs brandymom1234 | 10 lbs DenverGirl | 5 lbs lap_dancer |23 lbs lifesaver | 8 lbs lotzasunshine |10 lbs minidriver | 10 lbs PrtyAntOvrYt | 20 lbs ShelbiCallie | 8 lbs Woofay | 5 lbs Rock it ladies! . -

Ok awesome! Let do it then. Anyone who wants to participate in the Labor Day Challenge just let me know... also let me know how many pounds you want to lose. :wink2: Let's do weigh ins on Mondays since that is the day Sept 1st falls on. Sound good? Dee I don't want to steal your thunder but figured I would give you a break from keeping tally this time. Just yell at me if you want to do it! lol. My goal is to get to TWOTERVILLE! 8.5 pounds to get there, so I will shoot for 10 pounds. :cool2: LABOR DAY CHALLENGERS adorKable - Goal 10 lbs minidriver - Goal -

So proud of you!!!!    Oh my goodness girly. What a pile that has landed on your plate. hopefully the new meds will get Tucker feeling better soon!! :wink2: YES!!! I think we SHOULD do another challenge. I liked being accountable to others! We could do a Labor Day challenge. That is exactly a month from now. A nice short 4 week challenge. 8-10 pounds... something like that. What does everyone think?? -

Wanted to share a few more pictures of Sophie. She is a lil spitfire. Now that she is getting over her kennel cough it is hard to keep up! lol. She runs with me which is great... so I take her for a morning walk (more like a morning drag... she pulls me all over) and an afternoon run. -

I hadn't really thought of that. lol. I pretty much don't have any needs or wants right now. I do need a new laptop, but I can't just get that on a whim. Who knows. Maybe. LMAO at the MC Heather! tee hee. I was getting the same thing about the MC Hammer pants. Listen to your freiends and family and get the new scrubs! lol. Congrats. Fells awesome to downsize!! -
CONGRATS!!! AWESOME JOB!!!

I am so sorry you are having a hard time and are feeling frustrated. ((GIANT HUGS)) I had a 2 month period where I gained and lost the same few pounds as well. It can be VERY frustrating. Unlike you though I didn't have any restriction until my last fill which finally has me losing again. So hang in there!! When you are looser at night do you still restrict your amounts and measure out what you eat? If you are eating the right foods, but too much... try using a measuring cup you may be surprised. I know you say you are pretty tight, maybe just a scooth more will do the trick. Did you ask your Dr? Are you avoiding slider foods? I know it is frustrating at times but hang in there. As hard as it is... you cannot compare your weighloss to others. Everyone is built differently, some people have a substantial amount to lose (like me) so it comes off quicker initially.

Awww bummer. Well from my experience with Law Enforcement, sometimes they blow through the lists fast. I know we do at our department. *whistle* Woot woot! Look at you girl. You look HOT. And why are you wearing those jeans... they are much too BIG for you!!! Oh no! :frown: How sad. I hope he remains possitive and can regain more mobility with PT. Wow girlie. Looking good!!! Awesome!!! It really does make a difference when you look at pictures side by side doesn't it!! WTG! So proud of you. -

Awesome! Sophie has been keeping me hopping too! Love it! Awww... poor Sophie has the kennel cough too. Just breaks my heart when she wakes up hacking. Hope you lil girl feels better soon. We just got Sophie on Clavamox yesterday and it seems o have helped a bit already. :crying: :mad2: Awwwwwww....... so happy for you. Lap~ your grandbaby is a doll! LOVE the smiling pic. What a cutie! ___________________________________ Well ladies my gallbladder surgery is scheduled. It was going to be this Tuesday but I had a work conflict so I scheduled it for the 12th. I really like Dr Monash. I am so glad I decided to meet with him. He seemed very genuine and sincere... took his time, went over statistics... listened to me. I did NOT feel rushed! I feel VERY comfortable with him. I swear... I have hit the jackpot lately when it comes to Dr's. When he found out how much weight I lost he congratulated me and said job well done. Felt great hearing that from a Dr. Oh and he also agreed to do my follow-up care and fills. As much as I like having it done under fluoroscopy... I just cannot justify the drive anymore, specially now that I met him and really liked him. I didn't get a lot of info on that yet since he wanted to focus on my up-coming surgery for now. -

It took me three fills. First two fills were 2CC's each. Third fill was 1CC. I am now at 5CC's in a 10CC band and I love the level I have right now. I really have to slow down and I have to eat less. Not sure if I would consider it a "sweet spot" or not but I don't want any more fill until I get the hang of this level right now! I am so sorry! My thoughts are with him and his family as well as you and your son. I hope he makes a full recovery! -

Dee girl you crack me up!! You are rocking your band... I am so proud of you! :mad2: Happy early birthday!!! Woot!! I won't be on tomorrow so I will catch you tonight. ((hugs)) Relax! Take a breath. It will be ok! you are probably do for a fill. So good thing you have one scheduled!!! The closer you get to goal the harder it is to maintain. also remember, the average woman fluctuates THREE pounds a DAY! so try not to stress too much over the numbers. Easier said than done... I know. It could be muscle, water weight, or TOM. Go for your fill and recommit yourself to your portion sizes. Keep up with your exercise. I am sure it will melt back off. ________________________________ I am doing good. Sophie keeps me busy! I went running with her in the morning and then Rich and I took her for a long walk this evening. At this rate I should be down again this week! Woot! I also decided to go to a local surgeon for my gallbladder. As much as I love my follow-up surgeon in Flagstaff... the drive is killing me. So I am going to try going to someone here. I am not crazy about "blind" fills... but the majority of people have their fills done that way... so what the heck. -

I am so happy for you! It makes me smile everytime I read about your Beau. I can just feel how happy he makes you. :crying: I am not sure if I am in the green zone or not, but I am thrilled with my current restriction level and have no intentions of getting another fill yet. Going to wait and see how the gallbladder surgery goes first. The blue tongue story is pretty boring. Went to go see Hancock at the theater with hubby and the in-laws. I can never resist a Blue Raspberry Icee. That is the story. lol. Hubby took the picture after we left the theatre. :wink2: Honestly... there is NOTHING I do not like about my lap band. Oh wait, I take that back... I don't like the scars from surgery. lol. And trust me, that is nothing compared to all the benefits from the surgery. Sometimes I get bummed when I am full and I feel like I just started eating. Head hunger is hard sometimes. But I am so thankful that I have my band to help me battle my head. The only regret I have about the band is that it took me 2 years to finally get it done! Yeah! So glad Tucker is home. He will do so much better I am sure now that he is home with his family. -

Thanks. I will give her tons of hugs from everyone!! And just because I love hugging her. lol. I hope your third fill is as magical as mine was! I know I am not making the challenge goal, but at least I am moving again. And now Sophie drags me out of the house twice a day for walks! lol. I have my pre-op appointment on Tuesday with my follow-up band doctor... Dr B. Then he will schedule it. I am hoping the gallbladder comes out soon! -

I have had a busy busy week ladies. First off I am LOVING my last fill. I am down anther 2 pounds since last Thursday... I will do my "official" weigh in in the morning. That makes 6 pounds in 2 weeks. Restriction rocks! LOVE my band! Hubby and I adopted a dog this weekend from the Humane Society. I have been wanting to adopt a dog for awhile but hubby was resistant since we have 4 cats. I finally got him to look with me on Sunday and we found the most precious girl. She is so sweet and shy. Melted Rich's heart. He was a goner! lol. She is a Terrier mix, they say she is about 1 years old, our vet thinks she may be closer to 2 years. We think she was abused because of her behavoir. Very submissive, always ducking and flinching. Breaks my heart because she is so sweet. Here is a picture of our Sophie. (also a bad pic cuz it is from my cellphone) -

GBear, everyone is different... I had the same decision to make. I ended up decided to do follow up in AZ. I still have to drive 4 hours to the surgeon I chose but I absolutely LOVE him and I love the fact that he does fills under fluoroscopy. You will know what is right for you when your fill time gets closer. I still update Natalie as to what is going on with me... but for the most part I call my new surgeon if I have issues. (i.e. My gallbladder) Congrats on the success with you last fill! I am in love with my last fill as well. It makes such a world of difference doesn't it!!! I can still gulp liquids but can REALLY feel the difference when it comes to solids. I had 2 stuck episodes but have finally discovered some of my soft stop signals so I have been good now. Did you talk to Dr K about the results? I hope it has cleared up! That scares me as well since it is your port incision. Please keep us updated with that! Sorry your PCP was so rude. Do what I did, fire her and find a new one! She is adorable!!! Congrats. Just the cutest lil button!!! :scared2: I take a breath and sigh. I need to listen more to it, but head hunger fights me somestimes. Damn head hunger. Would love to hear your squeeky burp/hiccup! haha. sounds cute. My fingers and toes are crossed for your sister!!! I hope she gets the job! :frown: -
Thanks sweetie! Yeah yeah.... sometimes a person needs to be knocked upside the head. The pictures really opened my eyes!

I have read that whey Protein can cause stomach issues if lactose intolerant. I usually cannot handle drinking milk; but am fine with ice cream and yogurt. So I am not ever sure I am lactose intolerant. Anyway... my stomach has been really upset the past few days which is around the time I started using the Isopure shakes in the morning. I thought it was just cramps but now I am not sure. Has anyone else had stomach issues with the Isopure? I thought that it was a high quality protein supplement. Or should I just hang in a little longer and see if it is indeed just stomach cramps.

Awww thanks. You are too kind. Made a girl's day. =) So ladies, I decided to use Dr B to do my surgery. I have my pre-op consult on the 29th. It is a 4 hour drive up to Flagstaff... but I trust him, and I like him, and that is important to me.
