I did and I got done in 8 weeks that includes the 2 weeks i had to wait for Specialists appointment. I was told 18 monthe waiting list when i rang but as i say it took 1 total of 8 weeks. I also had to have it removed after 7 months but got mt new one in one week after the 3 months healing period.It is good business practice for private insurance companies to guild the lilly with waiting times on the public list,while in my opinion they milk their customers dry and pic up huge government subsidies so are they really private as they would collapse without MINE and YOUR taxpayer dollar so in a way you get wacked twice. Sorry I get a little more info than most as my wife is in the private hospital industry.I shall put my soapbox away LOL:blushing:

curious about bandsters being reticent to visit Places such as Bali due to Bali belly. We have booked 16 nights in Bali x Perth.

Ha shows how wrong you can be I have been contacted by someone who believe it or not is going to Bali on the same flight incredible . As iI have learnt through the ages "if you never ask you never get"

Hello all I have finally started meeting up with a group of Bandsters in Kings Park Sunday Mornings. The mad one s meet 8-30 to do Jacobs ladder the not so mad one meet at Sticky Beaks in kings Park the walkers meet about 9-30 and the rest from 9-30 on for breakfast or whatever.Just thought i would pass this on as i find them to be a really nice group of very helpful people .

I spend more than a month on Bali Travel forum before i go every time its a mine of info. Have not been since 25th anniversary so its been a while I also have never had the bug but as wife is an RN our first aid kit carries a few out of the norm drugs and equipment . I have just got a second band after a bad incident so was a little nervous and not thinking straight and guess what have met another WA person banded and going on same flight small world eh

remember me got my new band last Mon at JHC Joondalup. even more of a breeze this time. Out Tue 13th Thurs Walker and bike at Gym same each day think the Cardio really helps healing big time.Met with Perth bandit group fpr Jacobs ladder but did around the Bridges on my bike twice first after JL had a realy great time with the group. Thats where you learn a lot.Have lost 5 kilo already. Maybe get to pre removal weight before Bali as it would make a great 30th wedding anniversary Wink Wink.

I was banded June 07 and lost 47 kilo (103 lbs ) in 6.5 months.Followed the post op diet to the letter e.g.2 weeks of clear fluids, 1 week mushies. In the longer term I (cheated) had too much to eat at time but that was down to adjusting to the limitations of the band. My problems started with an overfill i was ignorant to what was happening ,I had not found this site, I did end up having some removal, and later replaced. Another overfill and the real problem started,three partial defills, 3 trips to Emergency ,after no food and water for 5 days before each visit and a bout of gastro ( vomiting) on a band that would let nothing through, my doctor was on duty sent me for pictures said it had slipped badly. Straight into surgery full band and port removal and guess what my band had been in perfect position I felt no pain on fills or de fills. I am a bloke so I DID NOT CRY ( what a lie) like a baby when they took it away, and the quilt "what did i do wrong) but was told not my fault and he said I was his best patient. weight lose, attitude, life style change etc. that is why when he offered me a new one I jumped at it. It needs three months to heal so i get my new band on the 12th of May.:thumbup:. Sorry this was so long. Ray:biggrinjester:

I am from Perth I got mine on medicare and it cost me nothing . As far as the wait most people do not get past the curious phone call stage which I think is the first test because as with everyone I also was told 18 moths . I booked an appointment anyway. That took 2 weeks and I got my operation date before I left the rooms. From whoa to go 8 weeks. Sorry to spoil the Medicare bashing. OK OK I should pull my head in sorry but all the facts are true. PS My wife is an RN working in the private health area and guess what no private coverage we don,t beleive in it as the private health insurance in Australia is a joke.It could not exist without Govt subidies ,hospitals , and equipment. Honestly I really am not a grouch:wink_smile::crying:

MSS I have booked 2 weeks in Bali JUNE for our wedding anniversary 30 years boy thats twice what you get for murder.It is only 4 weeks after i get my band but as its my second and the first was only last June I think I can handle it Ray:tt2:

OK here goes i hate typing its slow and my keyboard cannot spell. First and foremost this is my personal journey one thing I have learn t we all are different and react differently got banded last June and lost it about 3 months ago.I get my best friend back 12 MAY.Do not panic it was an extremely rare combination of things. OPtifast is much worse to deal with than either the operation and living with the band. Lets be honest its a meager amount,no feeling of being satiated, and people use it who have an eating problem I am Irish and I can see how little sense that makes . As to cheating it will not be your first or last time but here comes the Great NEWS. THE BAND !!! I lost 47 kilo in 7 months i put on 20 kilo since they took it out in anyones eyes that shows it works.It works well if you work with it and not so well if you don,t. Take RED DIRTS advice get some scales they will praise you and on those naughty occasions they will scold you LOL.I saw the weight loss day by and if you have lost enough to come down a dress size on Optifast without the band you should kill the weight loss with the band. Its been a while i only have 3 weeks to go untill i get my second band the only part i am not looking forward to is the Optifast th week before yech. I am curious as to whether the band woks just as well the second time . Or if there are any complications. Thankyou Ray ps they took everything port and all and my port was perfect:thumbup:

Boo Hoo apparently true to form I stacked the weight back on but have stabilized now the best news was at my post op appointment when he said he would replace it. I am still looking for a group of second time bands to talk with as I have a few queries. Its actually good because when people about to be done ask me about the band I can say after all I went through ,the benefits are so good I cannot wait to get my new one. It would be good if we had a chat site in Australia as good as the one on here.

also some of us get a lot of damage with a slip i got so much reflux i could not take a deep breath and had a little jellied blood spitting up

I apparently had slippage got picked up late and had to have my best friend removed. That was about 3 weeks ago. Luckily I have been booked in for a second band 12th May.Has anyone here had the same or similar prob?
