    scary first fill episode

Sorry to hear you went through that Nat. My boyfriend had an embarrassing PB experience at a meeting after tucking into a sandwich - not fun at all.

    I'm finally home!

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Here's hoping for a full recovery.

    Whos exercising??

That's 1 more minute than I do on that elliptical trainer Nat! I have one at home and every time I walk past the spare room it taunts me "Come on, hop on, I'm gathering dust here". So far since banding I've only hopped on it once!!

    Whos exercising??

I'd be interested to know that too as I feel the same way. I started doing a bit of running (more like a quick shuffle really!) when I got down to 90kgs last time but I'd love to start sooner this time.

    And so it begins...

Congrats on your surgery. I was banded by Watson in mid March and I agree - he's terrific! My boyfriend and I were both banded on the same day so we had double the burping and farting in our house! It's the only time I've heard myself say in response to a resounding fart by my lovely other half "Wow, that was a great one honey!" And I too had some whopper IV bruising! It does fade though! Good luck with the journey Em

    Whos exercising??

I'm currently doing between 30-45mins cardio each day (either bike or treadmill) and have started doing a 30min weight circuit 3 times a week. On weekends we usually do the 7km river walk or ride too. After I drop a few more kgs I'm going to get back into the group exercise classes like RPM and combat.

    First Fill

Yeah I hear ya Nat. We've been exercising machines for the past 10 or 11 days. Only missed 2 days. The fill was no big deal either. Little sting with the local anaesthetic and that's it. My lunch hunger went away straight away! Fingers crossed that it'll do me well. Watson was pretty pleased with how we're going and said to expect the "scallop effect" where you lose a bit... taper off.. lose a bit.. taper off. Good luck with your fill next week. Em

    First Fill

I'm going for my first fill today and really hope to get restriction as I can eat as much as I want! I know it's trial and error but I'm hoping this will give me enough to last to my next fill next month.

    Perth people, where are you?

Hiya, I was banded by Dr Watson too. I had jelly the day after the op and optifast a couple days later (usually for breakfast). As far as I know you can basically have anything that can go up a straw, so any kind of soup is ok (without chunky bits in it). I started on mushies after 2 weeks but to be honest, have been eating just about anything just making sure I chew into paste before swallowing. Good luck!

    First Fill

Good to hear things went well Kylie! My first fill is next Friday (18th). Very excited about it. At the moment I feel like I can eat whatever I want which is not good.

Hi all - banded yesterday in Sydney

I loved the coffee one. Mix with cold water and ice and blend away. You can almost convince yourself you're drinking an iced coffee!

Day 2 post op - and oh the bloating!

Yeah have been on fluids the whole time. I'm just reading Prof O'Brien's Lapband Solution book at the moment and he says to start working towards mushies after 7 days on fluids. Different surgeons do different things. I think the key is not to stretch the pouch so as long as you're not eating a cow, you should be ok. But I would check with your doctor first if I were you.

Day 2 post op - and oh the bloating!

Hiya, I'm feeling about 95% now. Went back to work yesterday with no problems. I struggled for the first week but came on leaps and bounds every day after that. I'm having an Optifast shake for Breakfast, either 98.5% fat free cup a Soup for lunch or a banana smoothie and then same for dinner. Sometimes if I'm not hungry I just won't eat which I don't know is a good or bad thing. I might just have a Multi V juice box instead. My boyfriend made some nice soups on the 2nd day in so we froze those in portions and just heat up when we want them. I'll be stoked to get into mushies tomorrow.. Scrambled eggs here I come!

    Progress Pics!

You're all looking fantastic guys, keep up the good work. Josh - I showed your pics to my boy who was banded with me and he found them really inspiring. Em :cursing:

    I'm new and sorta scared

Hey Jess, I'm a newbie bandit too. Heaps of bandits have blogs where you can read up on the day to day goings on. There's a thread at the Yahoo Message boards with a heap of links to blogs. Lap Band Surgery - Health Message Boards

Day 2 post op - and oh the bloating!

I know exactly what you mean Batkitty! I suffered with wind terribly. The peppermint tea tastes awful but the degas chewables do work ok. I found the best thing to get the wind moving was to get yourself moving. I walked to my letterbox and felt the wind move and did an awesome burp - instant relief! Also, sit up straight as much as you can. Good luck!

    An interesting response from some

Yeah we're the same. We've only told our immediate family. Everyone else has just been told that we're on a strict diet at the moment. It's tough though!
  21. emmaf106

    Not Hungry??

Yeah I'm much the same. Not eating (Drinking) much at all. Have started having optifast for breakfast again. But I'm usually not hungry for ages after. I will sometimes have a little bit of soup and some jelly or juice. I'm pretty lethargic so going to start with the berocca once a day too.

    Im Back!!

Haha I don't know if I was in the children's ward! I was on the Bridget Clancy ward if that helps. And yep I was in blue PJ's. I did ONE lap of the ward and that was enough for me!!
  23. emmaf106

    What did you pay

Yep you can claim medical expenses over $1500 in your tax. I did it last financial year when I had my eyes lasered.
  24. emmaf106

    Im Back!!

Hey Nat, Congrats! I was banded on 19th too. I don't know how you managed getting back to Geraldton, I struggled with the 20min drive home to our place! I have been feeling pretty shoddy since then. Today is the first day I've started feeling a bit better. SHoulder tip pain sucks. Anyway, off to have a shower and attempt a walk down the driveway!

    Freaking out

Hey Nat, On one of the papers Dr Watson gave us was his mobile number. If you're stressing out you could just give him a call and explain the situation although I'm sure Monday will be ok. Em
