  1. Thanks for that Stacy. Onwards and upwards now eh? A new life. One funny thing that happened to me, after the op, whnever I went to the bathroom I would look in the mirror expecting to see this thin face looking back at me. Oh well, not all at once eh?

Thanks, I wasn't sure where to put it.
  3. Because of sleep problems I stopped having caffiene a year ago. The headaches only last a week or so. Now when I have the od coffee I am on a high for half an hour.
  4. Hi folks. I am in Manchester UK. I have paid privately for a band which is due to be fitted on 12th Feb. I am 49 and have battled with 'our problem' all my life. I see this as my only option to spend at least some of my life the size I would love to be, and also a chance to give myself maybe 10 extra years. Q1. I am on a pre-op diet that my doc gave me. 2 Yoghurts a day and 2 pints of milk with other fluids. This seems harsh to me but the doc tells me its to shrink my liver. I am just about dealing with it. Is this the norm in the USA? Q2. I have read lots about people being hungry afterwards. I will be so dissapointed if I am after this commitment and having spent so much money (£7k). Is it normal to be hungry afterwards or does the band get rid of that feeling completely? Q3. I have a mother-in-law who is an incredible cook. Guess who she likes to feed up? What is the general plan for dealing with this type of thing and restaurants?
  5. Thanks, I am excited and looking forward to it. I truly beleive I will do better having visited this place. B-Day next Tuesday I am coping well on 2 yoghurts a day and 2 1/2 pints of milk. Can't wait to get on with the liquid only bit and watch the needle fall. I have lost 9lbs since Monday on the yoghurt & milk.:glare:
  6. I am surprised to be honest about the fact that people are saying that so much effort has to be put in after the band is fitted. However, I am soooo glad that I joined this forum and found this out, because absoloutly no-one has said this to me. They have told me that the band represents 70% of whats required to lose the weight, and that is about it. I am now prepared. Had I gone into this and not had the info that I have read here I would have been disspointed, de-motivated and struggling. Thanks to all.
  7. Great post well written, well done so far and thanks.
  8. I have heard many times that the band does 70% and the rest is up to you
  9. I never wear a bra....but then my wife wouldn't like it if I did!
  10. My doc has me on a 7 day pre-op and 6 week liquid only diet afterwards. That should do it!!!
  11. Thanks folks, Good advice. I lost ALL my excess after a divorce 10 years ago and put it all back on and more after re-marrying. I did a little excersize, but mainly it was down to a 1200 per day diet. I just kept on going. I lived alone and usually kept just 1 lettuice leaf in the fridge, sometimes 2 at weekends...(well, you know what I mean). I intend to lose 100% this time using excersize if needed, but not by choice. It felt sooooo good last time. The only problem is the clothes shopping bill! I just couldn't stop!
  12. Hi I am a newbie...in fact this is my first post. I went today for the initial consultation with my surgeon. I am hoping to have the surgery within the month. I am in the UK and I am paying a lot of money for the operation, but if it gives me what I am after then I would gladly pay double. I am 48 and male. I am 6ft. and 322 lbs and want to get down to 196lbs. I have done it before on my own and put it all back on again. What strikes me about most of the pictures of before and after is that most do not become slim, but just slimmer. I want to be slim. Is there a reason for this? Any advice and support would be most welcome. Thanks Graham.
  13. Thanks for all that folks. I take on board all that is said.
  14. Thanks for that, but the doc said that if my liver was too big he would have to stop the op and I would not get a refund. I don't know if this was just a way to get me to stick with it. Whichever, it worked I have stuck to it rigidley.
