Thanks Fenton. Every hour gets easier. The bloating is the only bothersome thing at this point. It feels good to walk around - i guess it keeps the gas moving...

just got back from hospital. still sore but definitely not awfull. the "anesthesia hangover" was the worse part for me. right now just feel super bloated from the gas they pump you with and a little sore.... definitely minor in the scheme of things. here we go !

hey Fenton - you're right. my back was stiff though this morning and i just did a 30 minute light walk to loosen it up before being tied down for the surgery. i feel great now (if not very anxious and excited) and allthough thirsty, not dehydrated.

I've told people here and there and really have had mixed reactions, which is a bit of a bummer. Not that I'm looking for buy-in, but it the mixed reactions is kind of a bummer. When (not if) I start losing weight and people ask, I will tell them. Otherwise, I am not telling anymore people... Q - holding everything down ok so far ?

First one to 30 bmi seems like a reasonable first bet. question is, what stakes ?

Fenton - I will - it is true that is very reassuring to read these posts so as to know what to expect (or what not to expect). Definitely makes me more relaxed. Still can't wait though. I will post regularly when I get home on Wednesday.

Hey Q - right there with you - actually getting banded on the 13th. We have the same starting bmi and I know this is a friendly chat room, but a little competition can't hurt :tongue2: I'm also very anxious, excited, nervous, etc...but really just can't wait at this point..

Who did you tell/talk to before

I had the same comments from my wife as well (yes, it is a bit disappointing) butin the end she is supporting MY decision that I have been considering for well over 6 months of learning about the process, a lifetime of battling obesity, a psych eval and the support of both my pcp and surgeon. Did I mention this is MY decision. That is enough in the end. By the way - I am about the same age and weight as you and go for the band Feb 13 and I can't begin to explain how excited I am about this (MY) decision...

    For those with BMI 35-40?

Thanks Blund - i will look for that thread...
  15. Awesome. Sounds like a very familiar story pre-band and I hope mine is as good as yours 8 months from now (I get banded 2 weeks from tomorrow).....

    For those with BMI 35-40?

My wife knows and is lukewarm to the idea, which is a bummer. She's afraid of me "changing" for the worse - like picking up bad habits in place of food. I assured her I will seek counseling and support groups (like this one). I do wish she was as excited as I am. As far as my kids, they are 6 and 7 and I do not plan on telling them as they are probably to young to understand ? Wonder what other people think about telling kids as well....

    For those with BMI 35-40?

I'm getting a lot of "are you sure ?" as well. I am 40 years old, 6'3" with a BMI of 40. Have always been "big mike" (hence the new login name). I am getting banded Feb 13 and can not wait ! I feel that as long as I have the support of my pcp (who has seen my weight yo-yo through the years and was the person who initially reffered me to lap band), and my surgeon, I do not need others to buy into it. My plan is simple - if people ask how I lost the weight - I will tell them. Otherwise, I won't be looking for buy in. Good luck to all !
