Night pains and food nightmares
AngelWhispers replied to Heft_Bandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Its possible that you are really having these pains while sleeping but in your dream you are thinking you are having them because you are eating. Often I dream I am having back pains because I fall or something like that then I wake up and the whole time I was really having very bad pains in my back. Weird.. I know lol. But then again, if you wake up and aren't having any pain it may really all just be a dream. -
Concerned about loose skin???
AngelWhispers posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 4th. I'm 5'4 and 230lbs and I've been wondering if I will have very much loose skin after I lose the weight. I know its different for everyone, but I'd like some responses on other people's experiences with this. -
I haven't had my surgery yet, should be some time in August. I'm wondering what are some of the best types of soups/broths you've tried along with shakes and protein drinks, etc. for the first few weeks?

Less than 100 pounds to lose
AngelWhispers replied to lapbandmexico's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well it really depends on how much weight you are wanting to lose and how much difficulty you've had in the past with losing weight and keeping it off. The way I look at it is that even if you only have like 50lbs to lose, the lap band is something that will stay in you for the rest of your life (if there aren't any complications where you must take it out).. and it is something that will help you to maintain your ideal body weight throughout your entire life. Regardless of how much inital weight you need to lose, unless of course its like 20lbs or something, I say its a great investment in your health and future. You just may not need as much restriction as someone who say has 200lbs to lose. -
Its going to be at Southern Surgical in Slidel. I'm hoping to have it the last week in August or the first week in September.

Getting off birth control for surgery???
AngelWhispers posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went for my consultation today and the doctor told me I had to get off of birth control for a month before and a month after the surgery. Can anyone explain to me why this is ABSOLUTELY necessary and if anyone was told differnet??? -
Getting off birth control for surgery???
AngelWhispers replied to AngelWhispers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its just kind of frustrating because I've only been on Nuva Ring for a few months to regulate my periods b/c of PCOS and now I finally have regular periods instead of skipping for 6 months at a time and now I'll have to get off of it for 2 months and it'll completely mess it all up. I mean of course I'll do it to lessen my chances of getting blood clots and all.. but I wonder if there may be a different type of birth control that I could be on just for that time that wouldn't be a problem.. -
Emily, good to know your surgery went well! I had my first consultation today. It was nothing like I had expected, was very simple and straight to the point. I got there, gave them my paperwork. They called me in, took my weight, height, blood pressure. Had me blow in a little bag to check for bacteria in my stomach, swallowed some sour tart type liquid, then the doc. came in. Went over my information, explained the surgery and told me I didn't need clearance from my doctor b/c I don't have medical problems except for PCOS. Told me we would wait to do the bloodwork went I go for pre-op. Then I had to do a true or false psych. evaluation which only took a few minutes and then told me once those results come back, which should be by the end of the week, they will call me to schedule the surgery when ever I want. I was surprised everything is able to go along so quick! I was expecting more tests and having to wait for bloodwork results and all to come back before scheduling. WOW!! I'm so excited!!! hehe:thumbup:

Does anyone know if its possible to have your guest watch your procedure being done? I'm going to have mine done at Omega Hospital in New Orleans, LA. I've read on a website somewhere that someone could watch, but I think it was on a website for surgery in Mexico, just can't remember which one.

Someone else to watch your procedure?

I just thought he may be interested in watching it. I know I would be, I find those sort of things fascinating. -

Someone else to watch your procedure?
AngelWhispers replied to AngelWhispers's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well it would be my husband watching lol I just remember reading somewhere on a website that your guest could watch the surgery being done through a glass window.. and I guess looking at a screen or something... not sure how it would've worked. I'm pretty sure it was for a surgery in Mexico, I just wish I could remember which one to show you guys what it said. I was surprised when I read it myself! But I'm having the surgery here in the US so I'm sure theres no way they'd let. -
Thanks for the response! Congratulations! I'm hoping to have it on Thursday August 28th so I will hopefully only have to take off of work the Thursday and Friday because the following Monday is Labor Day.

nanaislosingit, How did your process go as for your appointments, testing, scheduling surgery date, etc. ?
-
Emily, Your surgery date is the 16th? How long before that did you start all your testing and appointments and stuff??
-
I am going to be self pay so thankfully I won't have to go through as much pre-op stuff. They told me something about 3-4 weeks after the first consultation you should have a date scheduled, unless I misunderstood what they were saying.

I am set for my first consultation with Dr. Clark Warden with Surgical Specialists in Metairie on July 16th. Can anyone tell me what are their procedures meaning what do they do on the first consultation then how long after do you have different tests done and how long after is the surgery date?
