BIGDSWIFE started following Any any of you truck drivers?, How much to they put in on the 1st fill, Calorie count and and 7 others
-
DH has a 14cc band. Is 3-4 cc on the first fill tomorrow an unrealistic expectation?
-
Our surgeon and dietian said not to worry about the calories, but the serving size and quality instead. Like a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese instead of Ice cream or mac and cheese. They are all different, but I would listen to your body.

knot/lump in stomach
BIGDSWIFE replied to BIGDSWIFE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i guess we thought the port was higher. Thanks for the input. -
I noticed last night that just above my husbands middle and largest incision is a lump about the size of a tennisball. You can only see it when he stands up and he said it doesnt hurt at all. I meant to call our doctors office today, but honestly with him not so concerned about it and a crazy day at work, it slipped my mind. did any of you ever experience something like this?

Husband doing great, but...
BIGDSWIFE replied to BIGDSWIFE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the comments. I just want this to work so badly for him. Tonight for supper he ate 1 small pancake and 2 pieces of bacon. Not exactly recommended food, but definately not the feast he used to have. It is nice to be able to ask questions of people who know what it is like. -
My husband was banded on May 1st and we go for a check up and his first fill on May 28th. So far, he is down 45 pounds from his seminar weight. He has stuck with mostly soups, but is starting to eat softer foods. I didnt notice it so much with soup, but he is eating more than i think he should be. He isnt eating like he did before the band, but said that he can tell the swelling has gone down because the doesnt have the restriction. For example, he is able to eat 1/2 a can of soup, or most of a one egg omelet with turkey and cheese. Is this going to cause problems with the band before he gets the fill and has restriction again. He was able to get full on the recommended servings when he was swollen from surgery. I was wondering how you all did before your first fill. :leaving:

Burping, Belching, and Passing Gas
BIGDSWIFE replied to tammygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband was banded on May 1st and last night he was finally able to get some relief from gas. I have never heard so much come from one human being in such a short time before. I finally had to laugh, but he felt SO much better. He never had any shoulder pain, but was glad to have the gas out of his tummy. -
We were told that if your urine is dark it is a sign of dehydration and that more water was needed.

How soon after surgery could you eat
BIGDSWIFE replied to BIGDSWIFE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the input. It is truely amazing that when the band is the same that the doctors all have different views and requirements. Good luck to all. -
How soon after surgery could you eat

Please do not take this wrong, I do not mean it to be rude, but there is no other way to say this: If you already know your husband should follow his dietitian's or MD's orders, then what does it serve to know what others can do with their diets? What I did with mine, or what another bandster could do means nothing to your husband's recovery. There was no other way to take that other than rude. We are following doctors orders, and if you are sick of countless threads, then quit reading them. I was more curious than anything to see how everyone progesses. I have watched him lose and gain 80-90 pounds several different times and this was our last effort at a normal life. Trust me, after paying $13,000 we wont be messing this up. I totally agree with what daisy said. Forgive me for asking what others have been told -

My husband, like most of you i'm sure is so sick of soup that he could spit. I know all doctors are different, so I was wondering how soon after surgery were you allowed to have mushies. He is down 33 pounds since Feb. 23 when we went for the seminar and has been on liquieds for 3 weeks. I know we should follow the dietians orders, I am just asking for the different opinions from everyones doctor. Thanks. -
Thanks for all your replies. He weighed this morning and is down 33 lbs from the seminar weight. How do you get a ticker on this screen?
-
Thanks for all the help. He has started to take smaller sips and slow down. He was taking small sips, but not small enough. He is amazed at how fast he gets full, but is ready for real food at the same time. 12 more days to go until mushie food. Good Luck to all and thanks again.

My dear hubby was banded on May 1st and is doing well except for occasionaly feeling like he needs to burp. All liquid so far, so i was wondering if it is still a side effect from the gas or if he is sipping to fast. He is definately drinking slowly, but i am wondering if he needs to slow down some more. He has had 2 4oz protein drinks and one can of soup has lasted him all day. Any help would be great.
