    Hi from Ireland!

Hi guys, I'm feeling left out I didn't get a letter from ACS, I spoke to a someone today who said some letters only posted today so should get it on Tuesday. They hope to have a surgeon is Dublin by the end of the month. That would be good news. On a different front any suggestions as to what a person should eat in a Chinese restaurant? Going out tonight with two sets of friends who do know about my surgery. Last time I went for a Chinese was only about 5 weeks after the surgery and I only had the soup.. fancy something more tonight but not sure what. Gerri

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Guys, sorry for not posting for a couple of days had some sickness in the family. I have been on to ACS today spoke to Feena her colleague Corina had left a message for me on Saturday assuring me that I would get an email from Dr Jan with an appointment over the weekend. Needless to say that did not happen. Like so many others I was not able to make the last meeting. Feena has told me she will ring me back this afternoon. Are we all going our own way about fighting ACS?

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi 3na, I'm glad that you got sorted out but oh my god you had to go through the mill first. I've been back in touch with ACS today but still no joy on an appointment with Dr Jan but that isn't surprising if he has indeed left ACS. Hopefully next week will bring better news, good luck with your recovery and your weight loss.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Paulina, good luck with your road trip to Belfast tomorrow. At least you have had an Mot and know what needs to be fixed your are a more organised woman than me. I was onto ACS this afternoon, long story short is that they hope to have appointments in Dublin in two weeks. Hope all goes well tomorrow.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi SkinnyIrishBabe, the email address for Jan is Wojmakar@wp.pl I emailed him yesterday evening but no reply as yet. I'll give it until tomorrow if no reply back on to ACS.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Coco, Thanks for the update on the meeting. I phoned ACS today to let them know that going to Belfast is not an option for me and is not what I signed up for when I decided to have the surgery. I was then told that Dr Jan is coming to Dublin either this week or next week and was given his email address to contact him directly to get an appointment. I am going to email him shortly and see what happens. Elsie, best of luck with the op, well done on making the decision. Ailbhe, I used Actimels and cuppa soups for the first few days and then reintroduced normal food slowly, things like stew and shepherds pie for a week or so and then more substantial food chewed well.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi all, I phoned ACS re appointment for a fill, I was told that Dr Jerome will be in Belfast on the 7th March. When I asked when the next appointment was for Dublin the girl did not know as no schedule for Dublin she said to ask Dr Jerome. I can be seen in Belfast on the 7th at 2pm but its not ideal. Was told that most people are making their own way but if its difficult to ring nearer the day and transport might be arranged.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Coco and all, not sure what to think. I was told to ring back at the end of the week about getting a fill so intend to do so tomorrow. I thought that the meeting wasn't going to take place this weekend due to Mothers Day on Sunday so made arrangements for Saturday (sorry). I do want to be involved, I haven't had any major problems to date but as aware that that is down to luck as opposed to the standard of aftercare. I'll let ye know what response I get when I ring tomorrow.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi PrincessLK, I phoned ACS about 2 hours ago looking to get an appointment. Phoned Fitzwilliam to be told to phone Mount Merrion and when I phoned there I was told to ring back at the end of the week as the rota for fills hasn't been done. I think that the answers we get depends on who answers the phone. Don't let ACS ruin your holiday of a lifetime!

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Coco, many congratulations on hitting the 5stone mark. I hope you have given yourself a large pat on the back. There is still an awful lot of hard work involved in losing weight even with the band fitted, so take a bow and be very proud.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Atimeforachange, I don't blame you for fretting. If you are only able to keep minimal amount of fluids down ACS need to see you as soon as possible. I would keep ringing, emailing and generally tormenting them until you get an answer. I saw Jan in January and was told to come back in 3 months however I am slowly able to eat more over the last few weeks so feel a fill is due sooner rather than later. I will give Kim a ring and see what sort of response I get. Gerri

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi all, Thanks for the nutrition information Princess. Just a quick question for everyone, I sent in my ACS receipt with our tax returns and the tax office have got back to our accountant asking for a letter from the doctor saying I was recommended for the surgery!I emailed ACS and got a call today from Kim saying they can send me out a receipt but the doc could not write a letter as I went to them. Has anyone had any problems putting their procedure through their tax returns. Thanks Gerri

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Alesha, Congratulations on your weight loss! I was banded on the 11th September (talk about a memorable date) and so far am down 3 stone 3 lbs. Like yourself I have had no major problems yet but am anxious as to what will happen if I do. I think ACS should indeed listen to our concerns and maybe a joint collaboration on a letter would get Helena's attention. Bye for now. Gerri

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Paulina, glad your infection is not as bad as you first feared. Also good news that Yan had the decency to ring you, at least somebody in ACS has courtesy! I have to say I am lucky in that so far I have had no physical problems as a result of the surgery but psychologically the lack of communication and aftercare are playing on my mind. I'm sure you will look fab for your big 40. Take care.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi Princess LK, I had a fill done two weeks ago and got a letter in the post to say next appointment for April to phone then for date. I didn't think the first fill Jan did for me went into the port either. I have found they are quicker to reply to an email then a phone call, you could try emailing explaining your concerns. Hope you are feeling better. Bye for now.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi all. I was so happy to discover this site yesterday. I was banded by ACS in Dublin on the 11th September 2007. My surgeon was Bernd Ablassmaier. I think Dr Jan may have been in with him. I had a review and my second 1ml fill two weeks ago and had lost almost 3 stone. I was led to believe that they don't actually put any fill in the band when operating so in my mind there is now 2mls in the band. I haven't met Lou yet as Tara was still there up to about two weeks after my op. I was concerned when I read all the articles in the media but feel better after reading other peoples stories. I almost forgot why I wasn't eating much bread until the other day when I was out with my son and had a bite of fresh brown soda bread... it seemed to get stuck quite quickly and it took me about half an hour of feeling really awful before it moved at all! Although it was not pleasant I haven't made the same mistake since. Nice to be in touch with people who understand what a huge decision we all made and how important it is to us. Bye for now. :rolleyes2:
