I am currently drinking 3 unjury shakes a day. I have a double scoop (choc and vanilla yum!) one in the morning for 40g Protein. I make them with skim milk and some ice. Right now I am getting 100g protein per day. In addition to that I have soup for lunch and dinner. Harris Teeter has the BEST organic boxed Soups (creamy tomato, potato leek, butternut squash, french onion). Delicious. In addition to that I am drinking SO much Water, crystal light, propel and G2. I am easily exceeding the minimum that was set for me. I'm doing fine with the diet, but I am SO ready for mushies!!!!

Lattedah, I stayed the night in the hospital because I suffer from Grave's Disease and the doctor required it - just as a precaution. It was actually great because I got to have the good drugs all night long. I think I was in recovery about an hour or 2. I was pretty drugged. If the first dose of meds doesn't ease your pain, be sure to ask for another - that is the key! And you will probably be freezing, but they have this awesome heating blanket they put on you. The nurses are great there. I have been staying with my parents for a week (going home today), but it definitely wasn't necessary - I just like hanging out with my mom, and I can work from my laptop here. I was fine after the first 2 days, so it sounds like you will be OK. I see the doctor in the morning. I can't wait to weigh in! :tt2: Please feel free to ask any other questions! I am excited for you.

Clothes after Surgery
Tater replied to irishgirl359's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just wore regular clothes - sweat pants, a non-underwire bra, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt over that, and slip on sneakers. You'll have bandages over the incisions, so it shouldn't hurt. All my incisions are above my belly button, so hopefully you don't wear your pants up that high. -
My doctor says that the new research shows that it is fine to take pills as they are and he doesn't even prescribe liquid meds anymore. I am less than a week out from being banded and I have been able to take all my pills (about 6 per day - various sizes) with no problem from the same day of surgery. I do cut the Vicodin in half, but I think it would probably go down OK too. Of course you should do what your doctor says and whatever is comfortable for you.

Just checking in again here. I am still doing great. I'm drinking 3 Protein shakes a day plus Soup 2 times a day as well as all the Water, crystal light and G2 (diet Gatorade) I can manage. I think I pee about every 10 minutes. :Dancing_chief: Also having very little pain - just the port and some in my chest. It's more just sore than actual pain. Luckily I was spared any gas pains. Whew! I walked on the tread mill for a while today too. I guess I lucked out on this one! It all seems so easy. I'm down a total of 15 lbs already. Has anyone ever had their doctor let them start mushies early because they were doing well? What I wouldn't give for some yogurt or cottage cheese.:wink2: I see him in 2 days, so I have my fingers crossed. Hopefully everyone else is doing well. Take care! Tater P.S. - Lattedah if you want any advice on getting the best out of Reston Hospital I will gladly give you some good tips. You just have to know what to ask for. I unfortunately have spent a lot of time there.

Thanks everyone. I feel almost perfectly normal today. Lattedah - Dr. Pinnar(Sr.) is my surgeon as well. He is so great. It looks like a plastic surgeon closed my incisions. They look healed already! Good luck to you! It was a great experience and I'm very excited.

Hi there! I have been reading this site for quite a while now, but finally just got around to signing up. I am being banded on Feb. 6th at Reston Hospital by Robert Pinnar. I am excited beyond belief but also terrified - mostly about the surgery itself. I am not good with pain. But I am ready for my new life! I've never experienced emotions like this before. Please wish me luck! Tater
