  1. Forggi- in my experience, it's the fat. Because you can't get too close to your man. My extra fat/skin down there is taking up too much space. The more I lose, the better sex gets. For the first time in a long time I'M initiating it!

    Ok I Have Had It!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frustrated- that sounds HILARIOUS! Hey, if it wasn't drinking it would be something else. I don't drink, but believe me, my mom finds something to complain about every once in awhile. Let's see, before I was married, she would....yes.... pray that would find someone and pray that he would accept me. I'm not talking in her private prayers, no no no... we're talking in front of the family or extended family. Then I GOT married and now she makes comments about my weight, me having kids... whatever. So, maybe it's good she's hung up on one issue... she doesn't have time to think of other ones! Good luck.

    spf 85 my ass!

Take a Dreft bath! I got sunburned real bad with blisters and all before. Dreft is detergerent that's used for babies. Then when you get out, air dry and constantly apply aloe. I bought the spray aloe so no one would have to touch me. I applied every 15-30 minutes. Dreft is used in burn units in various hospitals. You need to soak in it for about 20-30 minutes to get good use out of it. It draws the heat out and stops the burning. (Your skin keeps burning long after you get out of the sun, which is why it's still warm). I went to the doctor when I got burned real bad once, they gave me some cortizone stuff, but it didn't work as well for me as Dreft and Aloe. Also, take tylenol.
  4. froggi- I totally know how you feel. It's getting better now a days... but I count it as a workout too. I'm 330, 5'7" and I can straddle my hubby. He's pretty skinny around the waist though. Actually, had a NSV the other day... hope this isn't tmi- but there's not as much fat in the nether-regions now- actually "scored" without my hubby having to work his fingers! That's NEVER happened for me.

Hey, welcome guys! We don't get too much action on this thread all the time, but every once in a while it gets hoppin!

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Yes, but clearly the atheist doesn't know enough about what they believe to distinguish the difference. And people blast Christians for not thinking on their own...

Why are people afraid of atheism?

So BJean, if a president prays for help is knowing the right decision to make in a situation, is that mixing church and state in your mind? Realistically, putting the burdens of society onto the shoulders of churches and communities is not only logical, but financially responsible! The federal government is overburdened with welfare, disability, medicare and what not that I HOPE that churches take some responsibility for it. I'm GLAD for faith based programs because it eases our federal gov't financial burdens. Faith based programs simply allow churches and governments to take part and have some financial relief. Yet that's mixing church and state... I think we should talk to the mothers who have trouble feeding their kids at night where they care where their money comes from or if they care about the programs that brought it to them.

no support and a fat liver?

Yes... surgery was the first time I worried about the size of my organs. I even asked my husband before surgery "Do these pants make my liver look fat?" Good luck and don't worry!

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Sure, Brandy, that's of course something that can and does happen. I'm talking about my experience. People who once were believers, but a bad situation changed their minds.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

No, what I mean is the majority of atheists I know had some life altering event which caused them to be angry at God, the higher being, or whatever and that defining moment has caused them to not believe. I'm sure there are people who never believed, I'm just sharing in my experience. I haven't done a formal study, so I guess we don't have actual statistics.

    I agree, slam away.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

So the fact that he's a Christian means he's shoving it down your throat? I don't understand your logic here. Obama is a Christian too, if he advocates something you don't like, is that shoving it down your throat by nature of him being a Christian? There are plenty of Christians who don't agree with the war as well, and there are plenty of democrats who are Christian. Perhaps we should get our a venn diagram. I'm not even going to respond to the Obama intelligent, good man line except to say I literally laughed and spit water onto the monitor when I read it. It takes more than ambition and ideals to run a country. He may have passion, but he lacks experience and pertinent knowledge. However, this isn't a political debate. I don't understand why people think Christians can't think for themselves. All I'm asking is instead of having this be a Christian bashing thread, let it be a discussion. I'm not bashing atheists, it's not fair for anyone to turn around and bash Christianity.

    omg I jogged!!!!

That's awesome Mss! Congrats! That always feels good, to FINALLY do something more and better! :tongue2: I know how that feels. Although I gotta say, your math is much too complicated for me! ;0

Why are people afraid of atheism?

And realtor's comment about atheists being angry at God? Maybe it doesn't apply to you, but it applies to the majority of atheists I've met. It's understandable, someone who doesn't understand God's love and our purpose here on earth, I would be angry too.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Yet stating people choose their candidates based on their religion or their veteran status, somehow that's completely acceptable and not insulting? This is my problem with this entire discussion... somehow attacking christianity or religion in general is acceptable because clearly those who choose to believe in something are not logical or "weak" needing a "crutch" (thanks for editing, but you didn't fix the concept). When an argument is sent the direction of an atheist, we're "denigrating their intelligence" or sounding angry. Clearly this isn't an equal debate, you can't discuss or debate with a group of people who want to keep screaming "I'm a victim" without getting down to any issues. Everyone in this country has a choice to believe or not believe. No one is shoving anything down anyone's throats... do I share my beliefs, YES. Why? Because knowing what I know about God, Christ, the here after has brought me happiness. Being a kind person, I want others to share this happiness. They can choose to accept it or reject it. I don't believe in God... I KNOW God lives. We want to talk about freedom of speech... apparentely that portion of our country's beliefs only apply to those who are minorities in their thoughts.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

We should vote for an inexperienced politician based on the color of his skin or perhaps because of their gender. That's much more logical and intelligent.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

I remember this case, NAMBLA shouldn't have been on trial here in the murder case... NAMBLA is vile. There are other organizations that are similar to NAMBLA. I've attended several FBI trainings on them and other organizations. It's disgusting that these people, who advocate sexual crimes against our precious children, get to hide behind the constitution. Wait until your child is abducted by a NAMBLA member... I bet you'd have different views about their "rights" then.

Do you count calories? Do you follow rules?

Do you still count calories? I didn't at first, but just started to about 3 days ago- just to get an idea of how many I'm eating. I'm not limiting myself, just tracking for now. Do you follow all the rules like no sugar just sugar free? I have sugar sometimes, but I drink sugar free drinks. If I have a bite of cake or something, it's not sugar free. No caffeine? I never drank caffeine beforehand. Eat your Protein first getting 60 grams a day? Again, I didn't before, but I'm tracking it now about three days ago. I don't count it, but I eat my protein first. I tend to get anywhere from 50-80, I'm okay with that. Eat three meals a day? eh, mostly. I have shake for Breakfast, if you want to call that eating a meal. I have a snack. lunch and dinner.

    I hate myself!

Don't beat yourself up! Everyone has a candy bar now and then... I don't think one candy bar every once in awhile is bad. The reason I got the band is because I didn't want to "diet". I didn't want to beat myself up over everything I ate. The band prevents, as someone already said, the bingeing and eating too much. It's a tool to help us. But getting mad over one candy bar and a shake- don't do that to yourself! You're better than that! I've learned I can have some shake- I don't order one for myself, I'll just take a sip or two from my husband's. It fulfills the craving and desire.
  20. Hey, I just saw that you're banded now! Congratulations! Did insurance end up covering it or did you self pay?

    WLS Post Secret

That kind of stops you in your tracks, doesn't it?
  22. leelee- my mom is in a wheelchair most of the time. She is lucky because she can swim and move a little bit, but she does do a lot of different activities with her arms and legs. Anything that keeps you moving, even when you're sitting. There is a tv station on her satellite that shows chair exercises. Maybe google it and see if you can buy a DVD the demonstrates some. My mom does leg lifts, stretches, lifts arm weights, even stomach crunches in her chair. Good luck!
  23. Well wicked... if you're a slow healer (I don't know if your slow heal time was due to the surgeries themselves, or some people just don't bounce back as quickly as others), I can't speak for that directly. I took a week of work and felt pretty good. I was back to normal in 3, maybe 4 weeks with no soreness at all. The transition to a more active and healthier me has definately been a process. My family likes to eat... so it's been hard to get them to understand I have the stomach the size of a thumb. They do tend to get offended when I don't eat as much as I used to. But on the other side of that, I'm happier, feel better, more active... all things they notice on a daily basis. I don't have any kids, but I'm a primary caretaker for my disabled mother. We did definately have low key days when I first got surgery because I couldn't lift her wheelchair and when I had pain meds I couldn't drive. But I quickly recovered. Lifting things wasn't too big a deal... I had to go to Sam's for litter and just asked a worker there to assist me. I don't know what your weight is, but if you're sitting on prediabetes- I promise you'd rather have a little pain now than a lifetime of diabetic worries, pokes, prods, fears of losing feet and glaucoma... I'm more fearful of NOT getting the surgery. Good luck in your decision. I know it's hard to make...

    Racist coworker? I can't tell...

These were all really good comments. I did decide to talk to Bob about the touching thing... I felt I should give him a chance to let him know I'm uncomfortable with it, I think, before going to a manager or HR. He may just think we're good ole pals, I feel it's only fair to first ask him to stop. You're probably right that it's due to his own insecurities. There are a several other black men in the office, but the majority of the group is white, with a smattering of hispanic. Enigma- you're probably right that this is one way to identify with someone or himself and that the exaggeration for effect if you will, is almost a way for him to show that. For years I've disliked the "acting white" label. I can't tell you how much it hurts me to hear people say that about anyone. My husband and I don't have any kids yet, but I'm a little scared to have them because I'm not quite sure what to teach them about race. I don't care what they want to identify with, be blue- it doesn't matter to me. I just don't want to them to feel rejected from either sides of the fence... realistically they will be. I hate race in this country. I hate racism. I don't want people to be colorblind, I just don't want race to matter. When they ask for my race on an appication, I leave it blank. Normally I don't even think about this topic this much, but I think with the comments Bob made, it just got me all riled up. My husband and I talk about how we'll present race or deal with racism with our future kids, but that's pretty much the extent of our conversations on race- except the occasional stereotypical joke. You all are right, I should have said something right then and walked away. I have this darn complex of wanting to be liked by everyone and fear I might hurt someone's feelings. I've dated people from all different backgrounds, but once I was dating a guy from Haiti, whose parents asked (very sincerely, I might add) if he was with me for my credit rating! LOL! I didn't even have good credit then! (Think- college and "free" money from credit cards!)
