Soda soda soda
MrsFlipFlops replied to MrsFlipFlops's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Holland- AWESOME! I too haven't had soda since my surgery. As time goes on it's getting easier. -
That sounds like way more than I do! I'm an incredibly organized person, which is seems like my President lacks, so it seems like in that way I can definately compliment the team so to speak. The monthly newsletter sounds like an awesome idea! I'm going to suggest the notes to the missing kids too... our ward has traditionally struggled with attendance, that seems like a great thing.

Neither, they're both bad choices. Obama has no experience and McCain has too many favors to return. I'm going to write in someone.

Bread vs. low carb tortillas..hard to eat?
MrsFlipFlops replied to weightisover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a tortilla once and it was stuck for HOURS! I didn't PB or slime, but it was the worst pain since being banded I've every felt and the ONLY time I've gotten stuck. I haven't eaten one since and don't plan on it int he future!! But, I can have a teeny piece of bread if I chew real well. Yum! -
Hey, welcome! I was banded 2/11. I live near DFW, the mid cities. Glad you found the site!

You know you are a bandster when....
MrsFlipFlops replied to Tyler883's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When sugar free foods actually taste GOOD. When you realize you have tons of clothes from 12-30/32 so luckily you'll have clothes from 30/32 back down to 12. -
Are We ready for a Black President?
MrsFlipFlops replied to TheWatcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The other day we were talking about the debate and someone said something to the effect of What would happen if Obama was assassinated? I think that it's a common discussion... I heard the same type comment a few times. -
my mom has lap band.. and she is in danger
MrsFlipFlops replied to sammie1030's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wouldn't call it the most irresponsible thing I've read. In general kids tend to exaggerate and get overly anxious. Sammie, I would try to convince your mom to call her surgeon or go the ER. If she says no, just help her in any way you can. Before you go on vacation, make sure another family member or close friend knows what's going on. Then go on vacation and try not to worry. -
That's true Kat, sometimes I just need reassurance. For instance I read a post about someone who ate like, 2 candy bars and a shake. It really sounded like the person just needed reassurance that they're NOT a bad person, and some cheering from the LBT cheering squad. I love LBT, gripes and all, because I don't know anyone in real life who had the band... I mean know as in someone I can share and talk with. My family, I can share with them, but there are some things they just don't "get". I have totally new fears that I never had before and new feelings. It's nice knowing the LBT is here for all those types of thoughts, stupid, repetitive, or not.

What did you find the hardest to deal with post op?
MrsFlipFlops replied to kizzie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aphrodite- you are so right on! I totally missed food. Watching commercials, being around family was so hard. It was and is still now EMOTIONAL! I feel like I lost my best friend! And in a sense, I was mourning food. Mushies helped, but since I will never be able to eat everything I wanted and all I wanted, I have continously (although it has died down a little) felt a sense of loss and frustration. Food was there when I was mad, sad, bad, happy, frustrated, stressed, celebratory... -
It might just be me, but I get really excited when I find I agree with someone whom I normally disagree with! :cool2:

I guess I just get annoyed when people just open new threads without looking to see if other threads apply. I'm not saying you don't have an addition or that you're an old pro at LBT, although if I did, I don't see how that's an insult, more like a compliment. I'm saying you don't know these people or their situations and you assume a lot about their intelligence, their research and what not. Just seemed a little harsh. You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. I wasn't trying to be mean, I was giving you what I thought.

I'm with luluc on this one. Ranting about repetitive seemingly simple questions may be annoying, but repetitive ranting about the seemingly simple questions is MUCH more annoying. I don't mind the questions. I got a lot of info from my doc- every doc is different. You see people on here doing different things and you may not realize that. Of course, there are some questions that pass my mind that either I don't think to ask my doc, or I know people here on LBT are going to answer better because they've been through it. When I was preband, I had a potato for dinner, I was FREAKED that they were going to cancel my surgery and turn me away. You don't know these things until you ask people. Maybe because it's been so long since you were banded that you forgot what it was like to be a newbie? I don't know. Also, the whining could come from a lot of things... it's emotional! I know losing food has been one of the hardest things I've had to deal with. Unless you have a REAL tried and true addiction to food, you'll never understand. It's a real FORCE that draws you in, taunts you, and begs you to eat it. It may be funny, but it's darn true as well. Click away from the post if it's annoying. :cool2:

I don't understand... why would you get a sleeve when you're already past goal? I'm not being facetious or anything, I'm just curious. I guess I would just leave well enough alone.

Badger, I think you can email Alex, the site person and request it be created. I think it's a great idea. I know my husband lurks around here, but he might post if he knew where to. -
Banded 6/3, Question about Hunger pains..
MrsFlipFlops replied to Amethystjade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was SUPER hungry for about two weeks after getting banded. It was the WORST hunger pain I've ever had. Even now, I really feel like my hunger pain when I do get really hunger, are stonger than they used to be. Can you do mushies yet? I did cottage cheese which filled me pretty quickly. -
I like Atkins Advantage that are premade. I HATE powdered shakes... ick, ew, gross! :tongue2: But Atkins actually tastes good to me. Sometimes for cost I do Slim Fast Optima, but they have a weird aftertaste to me.

Just had my fourth fill yesterday. I'm at 9.5 with a 16 band. Yesterday I had a SF popsicle and I felt full! Good grief! My question is this. Now that I'm thinking I've got some real good restriction... how does everyone get in all their nutrients? I'm worried about Protein and Vitamins and such. I take a Vitamin, but it seems that I should be eating more fruits and veggies, but to get the protein in I don't have enough space! But wow, THIS is definately restriction. The doc said he finds most people feel it around 12, but I don't think I need another fill for awhile, we'll see how it goes.

What about swimming?
MrsFlipFlops replied to Ebeth0013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to wait 4-6 weeks! :tongue2: Then again, it wasn't summer. I got banded in Feb and didn't go swimming until May. There are lots of germs in pools, I would be careful to make sure your incisions are fully healed in order to prevent infection. ICK! -
do you follow the post fill diet and why is it necessary?
MrsFlipFlops replied to Linda Hamsing Rosen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do liquids for a day, then soft foods for a day then regular. He recommends a day for liquids, a day for mushies, and a day for soft foods, then regular... but they did say to do what I feel is best and don't have firm guidelines, just suggestions. I've never experienced any problems with my method and it seems to work well. I do my fills in the mornings and I always drink a shake for breakfast, so I guess I really do liquids for 1.5 days. :tongue2: -
Hey look! Here we are! This is awesome!

When do you....
MrsFlipFlops replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Def follow doc's orders. I had liquids for a week then soft foods for about 2 weeks, then liquids -
Personally I check in the guys room occasionally... not that interesting. We women are WAY more entertaining.

I get 'em too... About 7 of them... I just pluck them when I see them. I don't want to go through the trouble of waxing for just a few hairs.

I think it's more because the reasoning used is not something you understand. Take the Big Bang theory for instance, no one knows for sure what really happened, but science says some stuff toppled together and then earth began. Somehow, that's enough reasoning for most people. I wonder, where did all that crap come from? Who made it? My logic is that nothing comes from nothing. If it exists, it had to be formed somehow, bugs, dirt, water don't just get formed on their own. Oxygen, hydrogen, and all our natural elements came from somewhere... before the world was. My explanation is that something bigger than you and I put a motion into action. If your explanation is more "logical" by all means, discuss. But it's not... because discussion on this thread leads to there not being an answer. Now, the difference between you and me is that you're willing to accept that "magically" they appeared, whereas I'm not. I guess I'm not naive and dependent enough on the science community to just say "Because we said so." I want more answers than that. Besides, how do you know my feelings aren't valid? There's no way for you to determine if the way a person feels is based on their own "intuition" or an actual prompting from a higher source. You can't just throw that out the window because you don't feel it too.
