Mine at the moment is This is Your Life by Switchfoot Yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead Yesterday is a promise that you’ve broken Don’t close your eyes Don’t close your eyes This is your life and today is all you’ve got now And today is all you’ll ever have Don’t close your eyes Don’t close your eyes This is your life Are you who you want to be? This is your life Are you who you want to be? This is your life Is it everything you dreamed that it would be When the world was younger And you had everything to lose? Yesterday is a kid in the corner Yesterday is dead and over This is your life Are you who you want to be? This is your life Are you who you want to be? This is your life Is it everything you dreamed that it would be When the world was younger, and you had everything to lose? Don't close your eyes Don't close your eyes Don't close your eyes Don't close your eyes This is your life are you who you want to be? This is your life are you who you want to be? This is your life are you who you want to be? This is your life are you who you want to be? This is your life is it everything you dreamed that it would be, When the world was younger and you had everything to lose, Everything to lose.

I just started the Viactiv flavor glides for multivitamin. I tried the multivitamin chews but they were nasty but the calcium ones aren't bad. Right after surgery, I was taking childrens Flintstones but I just cannot tolerate them anymore.

I used Weight Loss Institute of Arizona in Tempe and love them. Dr. DeBarros actually had the procedure himself last year. Arizona Weight Loss - Gastric Bypass and Lapband Surgery

Of course #1 used to be a favorite of mine! So happy I am banded now  -
Nothing like a little calorie free eye candy!

Hope your second fill gets you where you need to be. I am still amazed at how well I am filled after mine and it is showing no signs of going away this time

I have a very hard time with the smell of vitamins and I have to gag down the Flinstones every day and it is getting harder and harder since my last fill. I found some Viactiv chews that you can take instead of your multivitamin. I am scared to try them for fear of not being able to eat dinner tonight if they are too nasty. Has anyone else tried them?

I just tried the chews and couldn't tolerate them at all. I am going to have to look for the flavor glides.

I am right where you are at the moment size wise. I just got into 16 in pants & shorts and I can do either 1X in plus or XL in misses but it definitely depends on the style and cut. Unlike you, I am having a blast with shopping. I started at 26 in pants and a 3x in tops so just the idea of getting things from misses is a complete thrill. I have had good luck at Kohl's, Mervyns, Dillards, and Macys. I have been going shopping for myself at least twice a week for the past month or so, I can't get enough!

Will the desire for food ever go away?
Mom2_4 replied to Officeslave's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't know if it will ever go away, I still get the desire, sometimes it is purely emotional, but I have really good restriction and it stops me dead in my tracks. -
Yeah!! Those plateaus are the pits, makes the mind think too many bad things. 8 pounds in a week is FABULOUS!!!
-
I knew it would happen eventually, but this is starting to get scary. It happened after having all of my kids but this is a bit more. I don't want to cut my hair short :frown:

Should I switch programs? Looking for advice..
Mom2_4 replied to mich's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can only speak from my own experience, which was the complete opposite of yours. My clinic did all preop testing, psych, nutritional, etc in 2 office visits. They took about 3-4 each but after that I was good to go. The only hoop I had to jump through was getting my medical clearance from my PCP and getting my records sent to them. The process you have described sounds very long and tedious. I would check in to some others, even if it means you have to do more traveling, seems like the program you are on isn't very organized. I can only imagine how long it would take you to get a surgery date with everything else taking so long. Best of luck to you!! -
I think it is the inner victories that keep us going. People can tell you that you look good, etc but its those ones that are in our heads that (good or bad) that count so much. I'm so happy for you!!

That is a great idea! TFS

It doesn't matter how fast or slow it is coming off, at least you are losing and it sounds like it is pretty consistent. Keep up the good work, this sure isn't easy!!!

I have United as well. The one thing about United, Dr. Orris takes it, but Dr. DeBarros doesn't so they consider his portion of the surgery out of network and they charge you for it. I found out 2 months after surgery that United went ahead and paid the out of network fees so they refunded me that portion. All in all, the whole thing didn't cost us very much because of that Fills are included, I think like 6? They are pretty aggressive with giving them, they want to fill you up, not a teensy bit at a time like others I have heard about. I appreciate that because the office isn't a quick trip across town. Preop diet was basically watery Soups, Protein shakes, apple juice, Water, tea with meats like chicken breast, turkey, tuna. Was hard at first but it went by pretty quick.

That is great!! Save a place there for me please.

Hi Carol, I don't know much about El Paso or Denver, but I will tell you my experience with Dr. Orris in Phoenix. I had to go out there twice before the surgery. The first time they did pulmonary function, drew blood, h-pylori, EKG, nutritional consult, medical history, and meeting with the surgeon. They also will be able to tell you how much it will cost you out of pocket based on your insurance. The second visit was psych consult, chest x-ray, ultrasound, and the scope of your stomach. At that time, they hope to have all of your medical clearance from your PCP, medical records sent to them, as well as any history of going to Weight Watchers, Curves, etc. They submit to the insurance and you wait it out for approval. Once my insurance approved me, they wanted to schedule me like 2 weeks later. Since you are out of town, you can do your pre op visit the day before and they give you your prescriptions for afterwards at that time. Each of the first 2 office visits take about 3-4 hours. They made it pretty easy for me. You have to do a preop diet but they don't make you lose a certain amount of weight prior to surgery or anything like that. It is a 6-7 hour drive, or US Air has several flights to and from during the day that if you buy them a few weeks in advance, aren't more than $125, which isn't too bad at all. Which insurance do you have? If there is anything I didn't cover, let me know and I will do my best to help. It has been an awesome experience for me so far, I only wish I had done it sooner.

How low was your BP?
-
My doctor said wait 8, we waited 10 days

Not for me. It took about a month after surgery before I was able to do it again, but no problems.

A dilemma, I have an overweight child...
Mom2_4 replied to LindaD's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe instead of saying anything to her and giving her something else to think about, just continue to make changes in the family lifestyle and invite her along to jog or ride bikes with you and have her along as a 'helper' to her mommy to lose weight. Make it something fun for her, letting her believe that she is doing it for you. There are several mommy & me exercise videos that she 'help' you with. My daughter has a ball that she uses when we do pilates and attempts to do what I do. You could even invite her along on 'reward' trips to the mall to buy new clothes. Best of luck to you both!! -
I have been an RN for 14 years, but have only worked PRN for the past 5 years since having my fourth child. I worked mainly in hospice for most of my working career.

I would say mine was surgery day as well. Coming out of the anesthesia and feeling sooooo much pain. I realized this just wasn't worth it. That I let myself get to this point of needing surgery. It also helps that I haven't had alot of cravings and no matter how restricted I am, I still feel like I am eating too much, even though I am not.
