You are in what they call Bandster Hell. Your swelling is gone and you are getting hungry again but don't really have any restriction and won't be able to get a fill for a few more weeks. This time was the hardest for me, worse than the preop diet hands down. The best thing to do is to just stick to the diet they prescribe as best as you can and not beat yourself up if you make a mistake or 2 along the way. I tried to keep myself as busy as possible so that I didn't obsess about eating, etc. I think I tried to limit myself to a cup of food per meal at that time give or take. It is easy to burn yourself out on certain foods when you are mushies since you are pretty limited, so try to remember to change it up a bit here and there. The weeks will pass and you will be on your way to restriction and the weight loss you are waiting for before you know it. Best of luck to you!

All February 2008 Bandsters Please Read This Thread!
Mom2_4 replied to Gibson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As of June 14th, my 4 month Bandiversary, I have lost 72 pounds. I have had 2 fills, first was 3cc, second was 1.25 cc, total of 4.25cc in a 10 cc band. I am 13 pounds from the halfway point which I hope to get to by August 1 and 47 pounds from Onederland which I hope to hit by October 1 -
I was worried about this too but had no problems at WDW and Universal last month.

Bread, pasta, rice, any kind of beef, lettuce

You look great!! Glad you are doing so well.

What do you eat in a Mexican Restaurant?
Mom2_4 replied to Officeslave's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I always get the green chile chicken enchiladas. I have no idea what the calorie count is but I never seem to be able to eat enough of it to do any real damage. I never eat the shell and usually pick out the chicken. I rarely touch the chips & salsa because as much as I love them, the kick to the salsa usually makes me want to drink and obviously that is a no no. -

Woohoo look at you!! You look great. Love the new do -
I have noticed lately that my lower stomach is hanging quite a bit more than it used to which I know is normal and we are putting money away for a tummy tuck in the future. But, last night I got out of the shower and noticed that something near my belly button HURT! I looked and right by my belly button, my is tearing, feels like a nasty paper cut. It is right down a stretch mark where the skin is thinner. I don't remember bumping or scraping across anything. I have never heard of this happening, has anyone else?

Yes...I have restriction...Now I'm afraid to eat anything solid
Mom2_4 replied to BlessedTwice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When you finally get that restriction you have to really start remembering all of the things they warned you about like eating slow, chewing everything to death, and watching out for breads and pastas. When I first got banded, I thought, HA I can still eat this stuff and I am losing weight, but when I got good restriction, I slowly learned that I was not quite as invincible as I thought I was. I generally avoid breads, rice, pastas, lettuce, steak and most beef. On the upside, the weight is falling off and at a good rate. It is like my body is telling me this is how I want to be fed and it is slowly but surely going back to the way it used to be. -
I have the exact same problem. I am really good with my restriction except for the week before AF and then I can barely eat a thing. It is so frustrating because that kind of restriction is above and beyond what anyone needs. I have no solution but I totally feel your pain!
-
I have read on here where people actually have more than their band capacity put into their bands in order to get enough restriction. I think it depends on the person, everyone seems to have a different 'sweet spot'
-
Hopefully the time will speed by, sorry you have to go through this.

I feel like this alot lately, like I was really missing out on life before this, or going through the motions but not really realizing that. Life is so good, I am glad you are feeling it too!
-
Very interesting. As much as I hate losing so much hair, I will take it any day over the fat
-
When did you know that you could eat that or you could not????
Mom2_4 replied to jessbychurch's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I usually give any food 2 times. If I get stuck with a particular food two times, then I do my best to avoid it in the future. You will probably have to wait until you start getting some restriction to see what will work for you and what will not. -
No problems here either, I am just very careful with chewing it up really well.

My Third Fill...finally good restriction...
Mom2_4 replied to BlessedTwice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats on getting restriction finally!! I have 4.25 cc in my 10 cc band and I have very good restriction, definitely at my sweet spot. It has been a few days more than 6 weeks since my fill and I have lost 22 pounds which includes a week of vacation and indulgences. Hope this one has gotten you to that sweet spot!! -
That is so awesome!! You have to be over the moon getting that far that fast. WooHoo!!
-
I was losing it in gobs and finally got a bunch of it chopped off and started using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner on the recommendation of my stylist and I now have little spikey hairs sticking up. I am still losing hair though :rolleyes2:
-
I went back after 5 weeks and had no problems except for the typical Curves bore :smile2:
-
Glad you are getting your fill today. Hopefully it will help take you to the next level for weight loss. I am so sorry you are having a hard time and so sorry about your husband. Keep looking for a therapist, that will if nothing else, give you someone to unload on. Take care of yourself!

I have had really good restriction since my second fill but for the past 2 weeks or so, I have days where my restriction is normal but there are others that I am super super tight and I pb alot or throw up. This is not like getting a bit tighter during the week before my TOM, it is totally random. Does anyone else have this happen, am I normal or a mutant?
-
I would love to come. I will be out of town part of that week and hopefully be back by the 26th. Could someone PM me with the details?

So who is in for this week?? I made my goal for last week. I am aiming again for 3hrs/180 minutes Lets get moving ladies, there are beaches we need to strut our stuff on!! -
I have been waiting for this day for so long. No matter how many milestones I have hit, this one was still nagging at me, that I was still 'morbidly' obese. When I die, I don't want it to be because I am FAT.
