I'm up for it, but I can pretty much tell you that I will have a weight change every other week. My body has fallen into this weird cycle of losing weight one week and then staying the same the next.
-
I was also banded in Feb 08 and have experienced the same thing for a few weeks and my PCP thinks it is related to low blood pressure. Mine seems to pass after a few seconds after standing. Just make sure you are taking in enough of what you need to so you don't pass out. There is a gal on the Feb 08 forum that did that yesterday.

How scary! Had you eaten recently? Could be low blood sugar or even low blood pressure. I have been getting dizzy spells if I get up to fast, some days are really bad. My PCP thinks it is related to low blood pressure. My bp has always been low, even at my heaviest, but now it is really low but luckily I haven't fainted. Keep us posted as to what the doc says!! -
Why am I still holding on to those clothes?
Mom2_4 replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Toss them, donate them, have a bonfire!! You won't ever need them again. I seem to change pants sizes about every 2 months now and as soon as my clothes start getting baggy, I start buying the next size down. I can no longer stand to wear baggy clothes, I want everyone to see me now, no reason to hide in a pair of sweats or ill fitting jeans. If you are still having trouble with letting them go, just wait a few more weeks until your 20s start feeling loose and that should reassure you that the bigger sizes are no longer needed!! -
I have had one for 2 weeks now and just now showing signs of improvement. I also had a run of antibiotics which helped but not much. I have been wondering the same thing. My diet has been crappy because of it as well. I have been drinking alot of orange and apple juice as well as milk because I can't stand to drink water with all the drainage which is a first for me since getting banded. Hope you feel better soon!

I am definitely interested in coming but I have been having trouble sending my email lately so I think I am more safe posting (I can still receive) so if someone could send me the details, I would appreciate it. I have 2 friends who are not yet banded but want to hear from others about their experiences, etc. Can't wait!

This happened to me around the 4 month mark after surgery and I started using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. It has taken about 2 months but I have lots of new little spikey hairs coming in, even my hairdresser says she sees them. She suggested that I continue to use it for a few more months.

Lets do a nosy poll. 1. What have you learned about yourself since you have been banded? 2. What has surprised you most about being banded? 3. What foods do you miss that you can't/won't eat anymore? 4. Do you regret being banded? 5. Would you recommend the band to anyone? 6. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything? 7. Would you do it all over again? 8. Has your self esteem improved? 9. Has being banded changed your personality? 10. What do you dislike about being banded?

Poll! Eating and drinking
Mom2_4 replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Don't say that! Give yourself some more time and it will happen!! I have finally begun to believe that I will make it to the goal, I'm scared of what my poor body will look like at that point. I have serious bat wings going and a saggy tummy that are definitely going to need to be fixed. -
Poll! Eating and drinking
Mom2_4 replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted Usually drink during meals, but more accurately, I take teensy sips, never drink or the meal would be done instantly as I would be stuck. -
I don't want to say this out loud: I've broke through my plateau

Congratulations! Plateaus are the pits, totally mess with your head. Glad you broke through. -
Poll: The lapband
Mom2_4 replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Any weight loss for me would have been a success for me. I was a bad bad bad dieter. I couldn't stick with anything for any decent length of time. I am seriously shocked that it has actually worked out for me. -
I think it is where you will be comfortable that makes you at goal. You are so close, way to go!!!

Lets get this board moving a little! Share your favorite healthy-healthyish snack recipe or snack idea. I am currently hooked on apples. I can't eat a whole apple so I core and peel the apples, cut them up and freeze them in my size portions in a ziplock with diet 7-up to keep them fresh. 2 Tbsp. PHILADELPHIA Light Cream cheese Spread or Fat Free 1 medium apple, cored, cut into 8 wedges 1 Tbsp. PLANTERS Dry Roasted Peanuts, chopped SPREAD cream cheese spread evenly onto apple wedges; sprinkle with peanuts.

I am still here! I have been sick for the past few days and between that and the kids starting school, I haven't had enough time to get these pics up and going. I agree that this is such an important milestone, but it seemed to pass without much notice for me. Even when I showed my DH the before and after pics, he just said 'I see it all the time, you look great.' Any ideas on how we can jazz things up around here and get the board moving??

Oh yea, about the airlines. United offers Economy Plus where the seats are a tiny bit wider and you have 5 inches more leg room. It doesn't seem like much but makes all the difference with being able to pull down the tray and it truly is a bit more comfortable. It isn't much more than a regular seat, I think like $25 more ish.

$20 copay with ultrasound.

I never really cared if someone wanted to sit by me or not, what I hated was having to struggle to get my seat belt fastened. I felt like the entire plane was watching the show. It killed my self esteem and I avoided flying because of it!! I flew about 6 weeks after my surgery and magically it fit without any struggle and now 6 months out from surgery I am just another person on the plane. Take comfort in the fact that this is the end of those feelings, and you will love the rush you get when you sit down and fit nicely into the seat. Good luck to you!!

I eat about 1000 or so calories per day. If I go too much over or under, I stop losing. I think you should just try adding another small meal for a few days and see what happens. Your doc may not think you should, but it can't hurt to try it and see what happens. Also, are you exercising regularly? That could also be a factor. Sometimes you just have to change things up to get that scale moving again. Hang in there, you will find your stride!

Pain Management Medication . . .
Mom2_4 replied to Jonnycat1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the hospital they alternated morphine and toradol. They sent me home with liquid Percocet. -
Your problem could be several different things. I have way more restriction in the morning than I do in the afternoon and evening. I have found that I do much better if I don't start eating until about 11am or noon. Also, with more restriction, you need to remind yourself to eat very slow. I had to learn this the hard way several times. I finally found that if I would take a bite, wait an entire minute, take a bite, wait again, etc that it taught me to slow down and eat slower, thus making your food go down easier. There is a whole new learning curve with the band, alot of trial and error. Just remember to take your time and listen to your body. Best of luck to you!!
