  2. I was banded on 2/14 and I have lost 47 pounds!! WooHoo!! Good luck with your surgery!!
  3. I never wore skirts but so far since surgery I have bought two of them and a dress, must be a new found confidence.

I can really "feel" my port!

I can feel mine when I look for it, but the skin in that area is numb-like, no real feeling there.

To Office Slave and Others I Offended

I was really rooting for Ali anyways, glad she won. I always forget about the east coast people seeing shows before us. When I saw that, I was watching it with about 15 mins left and thought, how does she know that :rolleyes2: No harm done on my end.

    If I were thinner I'd.....

I would wear a bikini too! I have long wanted to wear one for my husband.
  8. Best of luck to you with your surgery! The liquid diet can be rough but it is so worth it once you get banded.
  9. I am a lurker. Alot of times I don't have time to post or anything more to add to some posts but I do like to see how others are doing and I can usually find answers to any questions I have & love to help out when I can as well.
  10. I have been stuck at a certain weight twice since being banded. I finally figured out that I have to shake things up with my diet & exercise. I will eat differently for a few days and increase the exercise just to break through the plateau. Also, maybe you shouldn't weigh yourself every day. I know it is hard not to do it, but it will make you crazy beating yourself up over a pound or even a few ounces here and there. My friend is a nutritionist and had me experiment with this. She had me weigh myself every hour I was awake during the day. I consistently had different weights going up as much as 2.5 pounds at certain times. She suggests only weighing yourself once a week but if need be, then every other or every third. It was hard to get used to but it does help to not stress about a few ounces here and there.

    Roller coasters?

We are going to Florida next month and will be hitting some of the parks at Disney & Universal. I will be 3 months postop at that time, is it safe to go on the roller coasters and jarring rides at that point? I plan on asking my doctor about it when I get my next fill but I would also like some BTDT opinions as well. It would not be the end of the world if I skipped the rides, I would rather protect my band, but if it is safe, then I am going.

    Exercise

I never worked out before surgery. Now I work out at Curves 6 days a week as well as walk or bike nearly every day. I truly do feel better because of it and have no intention of quitting.

    I match my driver's license!

Congrats! I wish I could say the same. I had to renew mine last week and the girl asked me if my stats were still the same and of course I said yes kind of figuring I would be there soon enough, but the look the girl gave me was like YEA RIGHT!! Soon enough

What food gets stuck the most?

Rice and beef are very hard for me to get down. I have just decided that it just isn't worth it to even try eating those anymore.

Clinical Policy on WLS for UHC?

I don't know what the official policy is. When I called UHC about WLS originally, I was told that I had to have a BMI greater than 40, and to have had a diagnosis of morbid obesity for at least 5 years. That was it, no 6 month plan, nothing about comorbidites, etc. I don't know if this was policy specific or their policy in general since my husband works for a company that is really big on health and wellness. We had a different UHC policy a few years back when my husband worked for a different company that had an exclusion for WLS and they said at that time, NOPE, NO WAY, NOOOO! So who knows. Hope you find your answers soon!

Freaking out a little (clothing purge)

A lot of clinics and support groups have clothing exchanges, maybe you could participate. I think once you start putting new stuff on and seeing how much better you look, those feelings of sadness will fade some.
