    Perth people, where are you?

Optifast is what all the surgeons recommend. I think because the others are not designed to be total replacement VLCD for rapid weightloss. They are mostly designed for overweight people looking to achieve balanced weight loss by replacing some meals. Optifast used to be prescription only and requires medical supervision - for now that is all they are recommending (perhaps they are trying to punish us??)

I was banded on the Wednesday night and drove on Saturday (school uniform shop only open one day). I could not have driven Friday as I was still sleepy from anaesthetic, but it does tend to affect me that way. From other discussions, check with your car insurer and the DPI as we think there are legal restrictions on driving in the 24hrs following anaesthetic.

Hi guys, Just popped in to say that I am now officially a BANDIT (as of Wednesday) and no more optifast forever! Dr Watson asked me if I cheated and I was proud to say no, although the optifast was so bad that there were days when I only had one shake and the veges. It was worth it. Kids say I am much nicer on fluids than I ever was on optifast. Dr Watson told me that we can start mushies day 5 which is tomorrow. This seems to be much earlier than other surgeons, was this the same for you guys?

Need for optifast seems to be dependent on how much weight you need to lose. People with a lot to lose (I have 58kg) tend to have to go on optifast. I have a smaller friend who had 30kg to lose that did not. Same surgeon. Last optifast day for me, surgery tomorrow (OMG) barring last minute disasters. All I can say is that optifast may be disgusting, but how else do you lose 5kg in a week?

Thanks for the tips, only one more Optifast day to go before surgery. Splenda - like Equal (artificial sweetener)

Been told strict optifast x 3 and green veg only. Don't dare eat anything else, although I could eat my own leg right now!

omg optisludge is so right! Thankfully only doing 8 days as just got back from holiday. Kids think it is hilarious so am giving them brussels sprouts for tea - one of the only things I can think of that taste worse than optifast.

Hi all, Also new to this site. Rang Dr Watson Jan 7th and having op Wednesday (!). Finding optifast a challenge. Reassuring to know of other people on the same journey and with the same surgeon.
