    Help!

It's time to remember what brought us to weight loss surgery. We all decided that the persuit of becoming thinner and healthier was worth putting our lives at risk. I know this procedure is becoming more common, but it is still surgery! I still remember my wife crying as they wheeled me off to surgery. Remember the big decision and commitment you made for yourself, and draw your strength from that.As for motivation, my best motivation is a picture of myself prior to surgery. I also have subscriptions to a couple of health magazines, so images of fit people are all around me, but the best help is this site. I have not posted in quite a while, but i browse often. Jack and others on this site are great inspiration and a resource i use alot. Good luck on regaining your focus, and remember how far you have come.

Anyone up for training for a 5K?

2big4u, i know we are not suppose to take ibuprofen anymore, what anti inflamitories do you use? I was never sure why we could not just crush the ibuprofen.
  3. Hello all, it has been a while since i've posted but i do check in regularly, and your posts keep me encouraged and on track. I have alot of restriction now, maybe a little too much. I have a couple of questions i was hoping you could help with. First, cold drinks don't go down too easy is this normal? Second , i have read that some of you are or were very strong men, i have always enjoyed lifting , never to the point of being a powerlifter but always able to attain a well above average amount of strength fairly easily. Now during my weight loss i'm struggling just to maintain what i have , so any chance of achieving my previous strength seems hopeless. Is it impossible to gain strength and lose weight at the same time? Thanks again for any input , and congratulations and good luck on your successes.

    Searching for wisdom

Thanks again everyone for the input. I am going to stay focused on my weight loss for now, but the lifting bug has always been with me . So after i reach my goal i will focus on strength, and BigRick those are some impressive numbers. It's unfortunate you had all those injuries ,cause you're right lifting does many great things for you mentally and physically.Good luck to you and everyone else on your weight loss journey.

Ceradad thanks for the input, it's encouraging to see you gaining your strength back. We seem to have started about the same weight and strength, so i'm hoping to achieve some of your success.I have never tried circuit training but it sounds like i need to look into it. Thanks again and congrats on the incredible weight loss.

Thank you all for your replies, and i agree i should focus more on the weight loss and toning. I guess when i go to the gym the fragile male ego emerges and i want to lift more than the young guy next to me. I'll have to learn to control that. Sometimes i forget that i'm not twenty anymore, but i'm feeling better as this weight falls off. Maybe some of you can share your workout routines, i'd like to some new ones. Again thank you all and good luck.

    Full VS. Stuck

Hows it going fella's? 3 weeks post op, feeling good, down 17 lbs.,36 lbs. total. First fill in 3 weeks, feeling hungry, but hanging in there.Have a question i hope you can help with. Had my first feeling of food getting stuck yesterday when i ate something i shouldn't have. It was painful, i was sweating, i almost threw up ,but eventually it passed. I was wondering how this compares to the fullness you feel once you have restriction? I guess i'm hoping you just feel full not uncomfortable. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I hope to be sharing my own in the near future. For now i will continue my Quest to defeat the "DONUT KING" and his army of cheeseburgers, but soon with a new weapon on my side. Thanks and congatulations on your losses.

    Approved to remove the belly!

I hope i lose the donut lust, but i am sure they will always have a warm place in my heart, just not in my belly!:blushing: It's great hearing all of the experiences you guys have had, but i'm sure there will be some lessons that i will have to learn the hard way. Less than one week til those lessons begin. Thanks to everyone for your replies.

So... what do you fellas do?

I'm a machinist for the department of defense (ARMY). It's rewarding providing support and new equipment for our troops, but i'm not burning up the calories programming machines and inspecting parts. 10 days til i'm an official bandster.April 28th.
