cheryl1952 replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love is Lovely, I have had a had time this holiday. It is almost like I am not even banded. I have a 14cc band and have 4.5 cc. I can still eat anything I want which is not good. I have never gotten anything stuck and it doesn't hurt. Any advice? Cheryl -
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
cheryl1952 replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what you mean. January 8th will be 3 months for me and I had initially lost 23 lbs but gained back 3 and pretty much staying there. I have discovered I can still eat bread with three fills and I am really getting discouraged. I go back Monday for another fill. They really don't want to give them if you are not eating too much. I don't know what to tell them other than I need help. Any ideas? Thanksgiving is what did me in. I discovered sweets again too. Cheryl -

Flowers, I went to the surgeons office last Thursday. I had gained 3 lbs not as bad as I had thought but still gained. He added another 1.5 cc which makes me a total of 3 in a 14 cc band. I am trying very hard. I have not attempted bread anymore but I am eating crackers. I have had a virus all weekend so I drink gatorade and eating chicken noodle soup and crackers. If you have any helpful hints or meals I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Cheryl -
I just finished my pulmonary function test. I thought I would just blow into this tube but I was there for about an hour and then had an chest x-ray. I didn't do very well on my pulmonary test. I do have asthma so I need to have an inhaler. I thought I was having trouble breathing because of my sleep apnea. I will be seeing my surgeon to discuss the surgery next Tuesday. I am already going to get started on the diet. I am ready for the change is my life to begin. Cheryl

Apple, Thanks for the encouragement. I need people like you to remind me of these things. I will be going Thursday to get a fill but I have a real fear of getting too much. I only have 1.5 in a 10cc band right now. They don't want to put too much in at a time. How do you know if it is too full? I live 2.5 hours away from this surgeon so I have to be sure before I go home because believe me they wouldn't know what to do at our hospital. Please try and keep me motivated for awhile, I get in a rut and that is what happens to me I start giving up. I know I haven't done real bad but I feel like it because I was doing so well before Thanksgiving. Thanks, Cheryl -

I was banded on October 8th. Lost 24 lbs and have 1.5 cc of fill. Thanksgiving I felt like I could eat anything. Did not eat what I used to but am feeling the guilt and depression again. I think I did gain about 5 lbs though. Do I need another fill or am I just having head hunger? How do you know? Also, I am looking for either a treadmill or eliptical machine......which one have you heard is best for our age? Cheryl -
Average age of a Bandster?
cheryl1952 replied to Kellster's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How true that is tapshoes. I am in my fifties and I have been on every diet possible and failed every diet for the last 20 years. I am having a hard time feeling restricted but am still losing. I have 1.5 cc and I don't really get hungry I just eat too much when I do eat. At least I feel that way although I have lost almost 24 lbs. I had surgery on October 8, 2008. I am very happy with my band I just need to work on my head. Cheryl -
October Bandsters!!come out come out wherever you are

All together I have lost 20lbs. I had surgery October 8th but that is also including the time before I was having tests ran before surgery. Remember guys this is not a quick fix this is a tool. You don't want to lose fast because it is much healthier this way 2 or 3 lbs at a time. Pick up the exercise and while eating less we are destined to lose. I am very happy right now and look forward to being alot healthier in the future. At least I am trying now. Good luck to all of you who have had your surgeries and those who are getting ready for surgery. It is a blessing to be able to have this surgery and it gives me hope. Cheryl:thumbup: -
Hi Cher,
I just had my surgery on October 8th. I am a little over two weeks and started added back foods. I am so afraid I am going to gain back some of my 20 lbs loss. I am getting a fill next Thursday. What do I expect from this? Are you still doing well?
Thanks,
Cheryl

Are you sticking to your diet? I am doing very well. I hope I added you correctly. Let me know if it did not work.

I am one week post-op today and everytime I drink my Protein drinks I get so full and then I get nauseous. I cannot even think of food right now. Is this normal. I am doing most of everything I am suppose to. I have been walking the only pain I have is on the side where the port is and the incision looks great. Cheryl

I had my surgery on October 8th. I did not blend my cream of chicken but used alot of Water to thin it and did not eat the chicken. I feel kinda achy in my stomach and through my back not bad just aggravating. Has anyone else experienced this symptom? I told my boss I would be back tomorrow and I feel so weak I really don't feel up to it. When did you all go back to your jobs? How long does this swelling last? I don't even know if I can wear my work clothes without them rubbing up against my incisions. I am not hungry that is a good thing. Cheryl

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
cheryl1952 replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I had my surgery on October 8th. My birthday is October 15th and the staff made sure I had my surgery for a birthday present. We went to the hospital at 12:00 and surgery was set for 2:00. They started getting me ready with my IV gave me a medicine to calm me and I was on my way to surgery. I stayed overnight because of my severe sleep apnea and they had trouble waking me in recovery. Everyone was so nice. I am on day 4 and finally got to eat soup. I am still taking liquid loratab. The gas pain is on the side of my port. I am swollen and the incisions are very sore when I move. But, I am doing well. Cheryl -
How do you get 60g of protein in a day?
cheryl1952 replied to cynw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week after surgery I know you pretty much drink liquids. Do you drink the Protein drinks the first two days? Are you allowed to drink skim milk to mix? I know in surgery you aren't suppose to wear nail polish, are you not suppose to wear makeup or anything? Cheryl -

I pray that everything will be good for all of us and we can start our new life with the mind that we are going to Eat to Live and not Live to Eat. Seems so easy but not! I am praying this little band will be the answer to my prayers. Good Luck to all of you. I will be having my surgery tomorrow. Cheryl -
Humana Insurance (I work for Depart. of Education)....What's been your experience?
cheryl1952 replied to mrucker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I am having surgery on Wednesday. It didn't take no time for me to be approved by Humana. Probably because I have so many health problems and my doctor had everything I needed for them to send in. But, I made sure everything was correct. So, you have to communicate with the insurance girls to make sure you are getting everything you need. Good Luck to all of you in your approvals. Say a prayer for me and I will you. I will be having my surgery at Central Baptist Hospital. Dr. Weiss is my surgeon. Cheryl -

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
cheryl1952 replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy Birthday to all who has birthdays this month. I am having my surgery this Wednesday October 8th. My birthday will be October 15th. I told them I would love to have this for a birthday present so they made it happen. I am so excited but in another sense confused. I really want this surgery but I worry about all kinds of things. I am very worried that they will start and my liver will be too large. I have been on the high protein diet this week. I always have trouble breathing after surgeries and I kind of panic about that but all and all I am excited and keep praying that I will come through and this will be the beginning of a new kind of living for me. I plan on following this diet! I refuse to be a failure at this. I will be 56 and I want to be happy and healthy for the remainder of time God grants me to have in this lifetime. Good Luck to All and I will keep you in my prayers. Cheryl -
How are you doing since surgery? I will be having my surgery October 8th. I am getting a little nervous but excited. What kind of diet did you have to go on before surgery? Cheryl
-
Hey Becky, I am getting banded next Wednesday too. I am doing the pre op diet. High protein low carbs. I am excited and getting a little jittery too. I pray God will be with us all and we will get a new lease on life. Cheryl

cheryl1952 replied to AnniesMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anniesmommy, I am seeing the surgeon tomorrow morning and I guess they will set my surgery date then. I am hoping for a Birthday present. My Birthday is October 15th. I am like you I am trying to stay postitive. Have they put you on a diet to shrink your liver yet? If so, is it a high Protein or liquid diet? Also, have you heard anything about prepping with that drink they give you for colonoscopys. I sure hope not. Cheryl
