    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

    B-Thanks for the reply on the bikes...here's the thing. I already have an upright stationary bike, but I just hate it, so I don't ride it. Gonna list it on e-Bay! Now, I also happen to have a road bike and a trainer...BUT, I am uncomfortable in the drop down position at my current weight. I was wondering if a recumbent might be a better option simply because of positioning. I understand that you get a good butt and hamstring workout on those, but also can make you a bit lazy because of the reclining position. My husband is irritated with me over all this...he says ride the one (either one) I've already got, get used to the road bike so that I can spend more time in the saddle this spring and summer. I think he is probably right, but you know it is...I can't let him win! ha ha I really am frustrated with all this. My arguement with him is, if I will RIDE the recumbent than it's better than anything we already have! {{{stomp}}}

Hi everyone! Whew, what a long day...everybody having a good weekend so far? BG and J- I'm jealous too! Have a great time girls! B-I'm sorry you are so frustrated with your band right now. Try to hang in there. I have gathered from most of the people that come to LBT that there are periods like this, but keep up the good work. Try the different recipes, keep talking to your doctor, you are gonna do great! So I have a question about bicycling... What are your thoughts on using a trainer, a stationary bike or a recumbant? Mamma said there'd be days like this... ~C

Thank you both so much. I really am excited! I wish it were sooner, but as they say...good things come to those that wait!

Don't let all that info discourage you. I wish I had known just how involved it was before I started so I could be mentally prepared for it. I let it get me down for a little while, you know...the whole instant gratification thing. But somehow, I have survived, and my ship has finally come in. I will be banded on April 10th and I am so excited. Lots more appointments coming, but I am so thankful that they are so thorough. As for finding love/relationships, the moment you stop looking it will happen. I'm sure you've heard that before, but it's true. Don't settle though, you must stay true to yourself, love yourself and care enough about yourself to realize you deserve the best. You are on the right path. This is a big step. We will get through this---Newbies Unite! LOL

weird...wonder why that is B? I've seen other posts that people have complained about the same thing, yet unlikely foods will go down without any trouble at all. Aren't you worried that if you unfill completely you'll gain? It's kind of tricky I'm learning...you need to have satisfaction/fulfillment from food, yet not let it own you. I'm not yet banded, so what the heck do I know, but I'm learning a great deal from all of you! You've lost a great deal of weight though, so you should be proud.

Hi Mollie, I'm Carol. I didn't use my name for the same reason. I am a nurse so we have a few things in common. I also have MedMutual. They required the 6 month diet and at least 2 co-morbidities ie, HTN, Diabetes, sleep Apnea, etc. Plus the BMI requirement, psych eval, exercise physiologist, nutritionist, and I think that's it. All of my stuff was done at the Bariatric offices, not through my PCP. At first I was discouraged, 6 months seemed so long, but it really did go fast. I really didn't lose any weight. I found it quite frustrating. I felt like it was a catch-22; if you lose weight, than you don't need the surgery, but if you could lose weight in the first place you wouldn't even be there!! UGH! Ya know? I am new to this site. I lurked for a few days, read a whole bunch of threads and am really just now starting to post. I have met a really nice girl nearby and can't wait to meet more! I think it's important to the journey, especially with others that really do understand.

    What's on your Playlist?

If you use iTunes, they have the free podcasts. I subscribe to iFit, and they mix the music for you...it's really cool. You can even choose ones based on the heart rate you wish to achieve during your workout. They also have some for cool down. Worth a try.

Hello VOLEMT23! I wasn't sure that anyone ever came to this thread anymore! I'm so happy for you. The 6 months go fast. I just finished mine and the time flew. They keep you busy logging your food and exercise. Depending on your insurance, doc, etc. you may have other tests too. I seen that doctors' name posted here quite a bit, but don't know really anything about him. I'm glad you found someone you are comfortable with. How long have you been looking into this? Good to chat with you

Wow! I can't imagine even running...I was never much of a runner, but always wanted to. I love the show The Biggest Loser and it just amazes me that they have them running so early in the process. It's a great way to burn calories though! That's it, I've decided, it will be a goal this year! Maybe doing that intermittent walk/run method is a good way to start. I still want to bike too. I found out tonight that the bike club here will have a morning ride on Saturday's this year...that will be nice. I'll be able to participate in it 4 per week. It is usually about 30 miles/2 hours in the mornings (Dawn Patrol). I miss school. I was so much more productive when I was in school. (sigh) Oh, and my first name is Carol

I'm with you! I don't like the gym either...I have such a hard time getting motivated. I'd much rather be outside. I need to set some goals. I've never really done that...I think because I don't want to fail. I like that ticker that mbsbike2002 has with the bicycling goals. Good idea. I am so amazed at well all of you have done with your weight loss. You all are such and inspiration. Once you were banded, was it easy? How hard did you have to work on the diet/exercise part?

Thanks babygirl...or should I say BG? So I'm T? I like it! J, I got your back on that Ohio/Michigan thing...sorry BG, gotta do it! So is this thread the "place to be"? Are any of you training right now? My daughter told me this afternoon she wants to ride 4 big rides this year...TOSRV, RAIN, BIKE TO THE BAY and HANCOCK HORIZONTAL HUNDRED. Good for her! I think all but RAIN is do-able at this point, but we'll see. Do any of you ride those?

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hi everyone! I'm new to the site, but have chatted with OH Juli who recommended this thread. I also bicycle-road bike. I'm not yet banded, but surgery is scheduled for April! Finally!!!! I am eager to get my weight down so that I can fully enjoy riding again. It's great to see so many here that love to ride. I'm not a runner, but I've heard that it is a very efficient way to lose weight. Ugh! Just the thought of at this point makes me cringe!

  17. Ooohhh, I want to be like that! That is amazing! I'm a little worried that I'll be like some who've posted that they are like 4 months out and have only lost 12 pounds...I've got big plans for a new wardrobe and a tummy tuck and going on a cruise and...and...and...LOL!
  18. Oh my gosh! I am so excited I can hardly stand it! I just got word today that I am approved for my LapBand surgery! I just can't believe it...I don't have a surgery date yet, but should find out this week! My journey through this has been quite an experience, and am so happy to be joining your group to share all of this with. I know I'm new here and no one knows me yet, but I look forward to meeting you all!:tt1:
  19. Thank you...how soon do you think your surgery will be?
  20. HI! Well, my journey was somewhat unique...started over a year ago, had to stop, and restart. After I restarted, it took almost 6 months. I had my psych eval, dietician, exercise physiologist, etc. already. I hope we are down to just another EGD and the liquid pre-op diet, but I'm not totally sure! Either way, I am SO ready for a new life! Thank you for replying and sharing my excitement!
  21. I'm from Ohio...and you?
  22. :cool2: Hi everyone! I am awaiting approval for my LapBand. --hopefully I'll know any day now. I've waited so long for this. I'm a little nervous that I won't be approved, but I've decided to stay positive!
