asherje-- I'm sorry for your loss...you are so young and it's not supposed to be that way! You sound like you are handling things well, and you are so smart to get control over your weight now. Think of all the fun you'll have playing/running/dancing and being silly with your son! Good luck to you!

TX- So you could detect the squeal in my voice? LOL I have 12 appointments this month alone for my surgery next month! I had 4 last month! Isn't that just crazy???? I've been at this for over a year and a half...I thought I'd done and heard it all! Guess I was wrong!

I love that!

Thank you ZZ! I think I will miss eating too. I like to eat and it's very social for me, but I know that it's just a different approach with the band. I would think if I am slower (with the chewing), I would be able to savor the flavor (lol) and get more enjoyment from my meals. I currently just eat...like you I don't really care so much about quality. Sad, huh? The band is gonna help me fix that! I am determined and am very motivated and excited about this! YAY for me!!

I know we only really talk shop about bicycle or should I say bycyling, but I really wanted to share my news! I saw the dietician today! I got my book-o-rules too. It defines each yummy stage from the ever satisfying liquid stage to the mouth watering mushy stage and so on. I am oh so excited for this part of the Band...NOT! However! I am so very excited to be even getting the book at all! LOL I told her all about Juli and her weight loss in less than a year...I said I wanna be like her! It was a little scary at times though, because she kept telling me that if I eat too much, I can stretch my pouch and then it won't matter what I do, the band won't work anymore {biting fingernails}. She pulled out a 1/2 cup measuring cup and said "eventually you'll eat this much and this is what you'll eat for LIFE"!!!!! WOW! I can't imagine it, but am so ready and want to be successful so badly! Anyone got some input?

My post sounds weird...I read page 1 and got so upset I just replied without realizing there was another page! Sorry! I was referring to Shelli and tmm42. I think it's always good to explore other reasons rather than assuming you know why someone did what they did. However, I really like Kat's idea!!

I am so sorry for you both! Please don't ever allow yourself to feel less than worthy in any way! You are on your way to healing, gaining confidence, self-esteem and pride! You deserve to be loved and have affection. There are a lot of changes in your lives right now, so maybe some counseling would help? Best wishes to both of you. Take care.

Hippiegirl-- Let us know what the decision is. Your health (and healthy recovery) is so important. I hope you get to have your surgery too!!! Good luck tomorrow, we'll see you post-band! YAY!

Welcome! Welcome! We need to come up with a catchy group name! Does anyone have any ideas? (ie, Marchies for March, etc)

Hi everyone! BG- Your bike is awesome and super sexy too fer sure! I'm lovin' all your new stuff to go with it! Don't worry about clipping in and out..you'll get the hang of it right after you crash! lol Seriously, you should keep one foot clipped in all the time. When you are riding, you'll want to clip out just one foot to stop (until you get so good you can balance at a stop light without clipping out!!!). I unclip my left foot always, some people use their right...just whatever is most comfortable. Leave the other foot in the whole time unless you are getting off the bike. But I'd find the one you prefer and stick to it. That will make things easier!

Hi again! I thought it was going to take forever, and honestly was a little miffed that I didn't get a surgery date sooner (got approved in January). BUT---There is a benefit to this...I get to take it all in, absorb the information. I have time to plan, time to prepare my mind for the big changes. I also get to have a little head start. I've been reading recipes, exercising and dreaming a whole lot about my new clothes! Just think of all the life so many of us are not living because of our weight. What a gift we are getting. But I know what you mean by "snail's pace". I guess we can be patient together! ~Carol

BG--Wow! How exciting! It's such a great feeling to get a new bike isn't it? Geez...this last week has been very quiet around here. I sure hope everyone is okay. Probably just out having fun. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I think I killed this thread. Sorry. Congratulations on your surgery! How do you feel? Painful? Hungry? Good? .....do tell! :w00t:

I should be there too! -
I just love hearing all the success everyone's had...regardless of the brand of their Band, size of their Band and fill or no fill. I know this thread got off to a really rough start, but I think we all really want to learn all that we can and discuss the differences and similarities of our situations. I am starting my countdown to getting banded (April), and I come to LBT everyday to find encouragement, support, answers to questions, etc. Ultimately, if I have a medical question, my final search would be my doctor. I try to approach each situation armed with information so that I may ask an intelligent question and hopefully understand the answer better. I appreciate all of the information that everyone here on LBT shares. Thanks to you all!

Don't worry, you will be covered as much as possible! Obviously the belly will be exposed for the surgery itself, but only after you are asleep. Your doctor may or may not decide to use a catheter. If your surgeon does use a catheter, it would be done while your asleep, and most likely removed before you wake up. I can't imagine needing a compression garment/girdle for this kind of surgery and may actually be more uncomfortable than to go without one. You should talk to your surgeon or even call the office and ask these questions for peace of mind!

Congratulations Hunter! You are on your way!
-
Thank you...I will be banded in April and I am hoping to get the 4cc band. I'd rather start small and have less fills. I doubt I'll have much say in all this, but I'm sure gonna try at my next appointment!
-
I was under the impression that the doctors' decide which band size in implanted based on your anatomy. I thought they wouldn't know until they get in there whether they give you the smaller 4cc band or the larger ones. I would deduce that if your anatomy dictated a larger band, you should feel the restriction as quickly as a smaller stomach/smaller band scenario. Do I have this all wrong?

Hi Aurora Sky! Just curious, why can't you have Aspartame?
