I have been seeing a dietician every month for over a year. Once I got approved, I was given a whole different set of rules...Band related of course. I also have strict guidelines about post op too. I am required to see her at 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year, then annually for life. I have access to hear anytime in between I need her as well. I think I could have done fine on my own, but it is good to have someone to be accountable to. The only problem/complaint I have with her is that she keeps forgetting I am a LapBand patient, NOT Roux-en-Y! I have to redirect her frequently!

I think my band has got to go.....

Oh no! I'm so sorry! Too bad he just couldn't give you a bigger band or make some adjustments internally to the one you have. I hope you feel better fast. Let us know how you're doing. ~C -
BooBooKitty, Hey, we only live a couple of hours apart! I could potentially take you up on that!! You and BabyGirl live pretty close too!

I'm in Findlay!

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!
Turler replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Rants & Raves
That's awesome! LOL I wanna see those smileys!!! Wasa you have half of LBT checking out OH the last few days!! This thread is great! -
See, you guys know who/what I'm talking about!! LOL Seriously though, I don't even think you hijacked it, you just called her out on it. I just think ppl should be careful about boasting. There is a lot of information for us newbies to take in and digest (pun intended) and advice like severe restriction to the point of malnourishment is absurd!!! How can she be boasting in one thread and asking others for unfill/maintence advice in another? And then of course, fall off the face of that thread! Of course, I love watching a good debate/drama unfold like anyone else! :tongue_smilie: ~C

You know what really irritates me???? I follow all these posts and look up to you all that have been banded already, living the band life and all. I even wanna be like some of you! I am hoping for 'addiction transfer' to exercise!!! LOL I love that so many of you share the good and the bad about the band. So many great things about LBT. BUT... I hate it when someone (referring to the aforementioned thread) posts all this "advice" and "secrets" and "keys" but when directly asked how to achieve or unlock them, they suddenly disappear from the thread! This just happened last week too (I'm not a stalker, I just wanna be friends with all of you guys! :tongue_smilie: and the person offered an entire thread dedicating themselves to giving advice to the new people about being at goal and all! But when called out on it can't be found to respond!!!! ARGH!! If you (that poster) can't back it up, keep your mouth shut! Ya know? There, I just had to voice it because I usually don't say much! Does this qualify as a 'post just to post'? Am I using too many quotes?

Welcome everyone! Lisa65: I'm in Ohio too! I'm a bit north of you (unless you don't live in Cincin). I've been going to group meetings with other Ohioans in Columbus...great group!! PM me if you want to come along. I drive 2 hours to go, it's worth it and you get to meet ppl from here! ~Carol

Oh my goodness...it has finally arrived hasn't it????? We are starting our diets! What a great time for us! Hang in there! You can do this! I know it's hard, but just keep remembering the rewards we are about to experience! We are going to live life the way it was meant to be!!
-
Good point. We are getting screwed. Not only are the commercials and product placements there, but they repeat everything you just saw before the commercial break! The show itself is short! They need to pick one or the other!
-
I don't start my preop diet until April 3rd...then it's all liquid baby! Blech. I am not looking forward to that part at all...heck I worry about getting enough to eat now, I can only imagine how I will feel that whole week! I'm hoping that the hunger will go away a little more each day.
-
I will! I am so ready aren't you? I have been at this process for over a year and got approved in Jan this year (long story). April 10th was the earliest surgery date available!!!!! At first I was really bummed and a little mad because I'd already waited so long I just wanted it over with ya know? But know I am fine with it...gave me lots of time to learn and research and be completely ready!
-
Leslie2Lose: Hey girl! I am on the 10th too! YAY for us! I am almost done with my preop appointments. I see the dietician tomorrow and the surgeon on Monday and that is it!! I am so darn excited! How 'bout you? Welcome everyone! Our April Avengers group is growing!! This is awesome! ~Carol

heh heh Yeah, come to think of it they have a lot of product placement. I have DVR so I just fast forward through all those!

I'm with ya! Ali does look great, but she kinda pissed me off too! She was more than happy to vote off Brittany and I think she was going to vote off Kelly until she saw what was happening (the guys being so mean). Ali really buddied up with the guys, but I wonder now if she came to her senses. I don't understand why they all don't get the jist of the show. They need to be voting off the ones with the most potential to win, not the ones they just don't like. That is the only way a girl is going to win is if they ever smarten up and vote appropriately! ARGH!
-
Buh bye now Dan! Oh I couldn't stand him! Of course I don't like any of the guys. They were real jerks tonight with the challenge. But, in the end the girls prevailed...I am so proud of them!
-
Good luck and take care!!!! Don't forget your robe/slippers!!
-
Here's one of 'em! (ppl) LOL

Just in case you all didn't notice...this part of her post is new as of last night! I don't understand why she wouldn't come and respond to everyone in a new post instead of just editing her original. Hmmm.
-
It's been a stressful week waiting for the results as you can imagine. This was the best news I could have heard! The surgeon and oncologist both agree to go ahead (unless something else happens between now and then, God forbid please!) and have surgery on April 10th! Spring Break is on here...my daughter is out applying for jobs! heh heh I wish I were on Spring Break, in sunshine and warmth! {sigh} I can't believe you got snow today. Glad you got out on Gloria though. Sick of this weather!!

I vote we kill the thread! The original poster doesn't care anyway, we are just talking to ourselves!

hair Loss: Can be caused by several different things. Nutritional deficits, hormones, medication (heart, blood pressure, chemo), stress and surgery (not the anesthesia, but the stress from the surgery). Usually hair loss will happen a few months after surgery and only last a few months. Heartburn: Some people say theirs got better after surgery, and others say they never had any until surgery. Your doctor should tell you if he/she wants you to take antacids for that. If you are having heartburn after your surgery, make sure your doctor knows...you wouldn't want an ulcer. Your doctor should be discussing both of these things with you and addressing how you should handle or avoid them. I personally am looking forward to the "clothes don't fit" side effect!!!

Slippers and a robe! I wouldn't want to walk the halls without them!!! If you get bored easy, take reading material, laptop and stuff like that. Are you excited?? I can't believe how many of you there are in March! Good luck! See you next month! ~Carol

I see what you're saying, but try to read between the lines on some of that. I am not yet banded, but I have learned so much from reading all of these posts. I have a better understanding of what to expect after surgery. I know now that I might "slime" or "PB" (my doctor didn't tell me that). I know that they might need to stick me more than once to get the port for a fill (although I would hope not) I know now that if I don't follow the diet prescribed by my doctor, I might gain weight despite getting a LapBand. I also know that even if I do everything by the book, I still might plateau...maybe I should exercise! Everyone that posts here is sharing their experience. It sheds new light for the newbie's. It helps others experiencing the same thing not feel like they've done something wrong. It gives them a chance to talk to others that understand what they're talking about. Try to see the silver lining. There is a lot of wisdom here and some very caring people! Good luck and take care! ~C

Hi! Most theme parks have a section online that describes the weight/size capacity of their rides. Many of them will give you a clothing size to go by. Also, many of them have a coaster seat you can try out BEFORE you stand in line to see if you fit. I'd check out the web page for that park first. Good luck and have a great time!
