My nightmare hospital experience this weekend
Turler replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am glad you are better, but I'd still think you'd want to know what caused all of this! Especially since you aren't pain free. Have you seen the other doctor yet? I hope you go to the other doctor or someone soon. You need to know what's going on that would have you screaming out in pain. That is serious. ~C -

My nightmare hospital experience this weekend

I am speechless! I really don't even know how to respond to you. I've never heard of a story like that and I'm so sorry you had to experience it. I hope too that you get an answer quickly. Are you able to drink now that you are home? Are you keeping things down? Did you need to go to a different hospital/ER after you were discharged? ~C -
Oh HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE! J- You look great and cute as ever! Oh, and now that Stef mentions it...it does kinda look like you are wearing pigtails in your hair! LOL ~C

Hi Janelle, No, I'm in Findlay! Yes, I got banded a month ago. I was losing weight pretty well there right away, but now I'm stuck. I get my first fill on Friday though! Are you finding your way around here okay? ~C
-
Oh Juli our LBS guy called us earlier to tell us about that. How awful!!

Omenectumy (sp?) at NYU ...

I've not heard of this procedure. I'm assuming you're talking about the omentum. It is a layer of fat that protects your organs. Some people have a lot and some a little. Maybe they are talking about reducing it during surgery???? I don't know either. I'd like to hear more about it as you get more informed! ~C -
Hi Janelle! Welcome! I live in Ohio too...much more north than you though! I know there are several on here from your area if you're looking for someone in person. Your doctor's office also may have a support group where you can meet others in your same place/situation. Otherwise, you've got all of us! You may want to check out the 'Introductions' thread to find other new people in the beginning phases. Feel free to ask questions in the forums. Most are very helpful and willing to chat! I learned so much from this site and am very grateful for the people who are willing to share their experiences! Good luck! ~C

Great Job Juli!!! That is awesome! I'm so glad the weather was beautiful for you (today is another story!). 110 miles is amazing! I'm happy you liked it and that there were even some hills for you! BTW: I can't see any picture. Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Thank you Lizalee! I am scheduled for my first fill on May 16th. I can hardly wait. I am 4 weeks post op and feel like I could eat my own arm sometimes! I am starting to feel deprived...ya know, like when you diet so much and feel like you will never eat anything yummy again?! I graduated to a soft diet yesterday, so I am now allowed to have Pasta, rice and some meats that aren't blended. That is helping a little. I am just a little conservative because I just don't know my "full point". I am so scared of getting stuck that I might not be eating enough. I am ready to just eat regular food so that I don't feel so deprived. I'd rather feel full and be able to go a few hours than this eating every 1-2 hours some sort of soft/mushie thing that just goes right through me! ~C

It was so nice seeing you girls today! Thank you for welcoming my friend. She really liked you all and is wanting the link to LBT!! See you all next month! ~C -
I can't seem to talk myself into feeling like the weight loss right now is a bonus! I should take my own advice, huh? I was doing so well, but now I'm just stuck. WHY???? I need to somehow kick it back into gear, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong or different. ~C

Okay, now I'm not losing. It's been a week and I even gained 1.5 pounds. I'm so hungry still, but I don't know what's wrong. I don't know what is different. AAAAARGH!! Dreamsize8: What did you to rev things up? ~C

OMG I am having some serious internet/computer problems! Our main PC has a 'trojan'...it's so bad it has little 'bugs' crawling all over the screen. DH is pissed and it's making problems for the wireless computers in the house. It's ugly. We've been working on it for two days. J- GOOD LUCK!!! I hope you have a wonderful time! We'll miss you at the meeting! TX- I'm glad to hear you are on the losing end. Send me the list of supplements! I'm stalled for over a week and have even gained back 1.5 pounds which I refuse to reflect in my ticker!! LOL ~C

ThinnerMe: If I may ask, what's in Lakeland? I have family there and have been thinking of taking a short trip! Juli, Nikki, Heather: Still don't know if I can make it. If the gas keeps going up, I won't be able to drive my guzzlin' SUV at all! I may have to shoot for June too. ~C -
We are the BEST losers ever!

LOL... Well, I'm a little concerned about the FUPA thing. I'm pretty up on stuff like this as I see many Va-jay-jay throughout the day. I've never heard the term FUPA. And I guess it just made me realize that I too, have a FUPA. Shit. Note to self, get FUPA fixed. The by-sigh-ling thing is so weird. You're right. It's like the signature of this group. T-shirts are in order. ~C

I'm stuck. Been stuck here at this weight for over a week now. Bummer. I'm following all the rules, and nothing has changed. Of course, maybe I should change something. I don't know. I just want it to keep moving down. I keep trying to remind myself that this is the bonus period. I've lost more since the band came along than I would have on my own!! I'm still a happy bandster! ~C

What do you mean? What am I missing?
-
Well, not every good post gets recognized either. I think it makes people feel bad. I don't really care for it so far.

That pic is hilarious!!!

Oh my. Does your doctor approve of you doing your own fills? Have you been trained? Did your doctor teach you? This is unusual. Have you been following up with him/her? Do you get x-rays from time to time to check the band? Sorry for all the questions. It's very unusual for someone to do their own. There is a lot of liabilty involved. If anything were to go wrong, would your doctor assume responsibility for that? Have you called your doctor to ask him/her about the blood in the band or saline? (Another good reason to have proper training). There have been a few threads about this you many want to read. ~C

Hi, H Pylori is a *bacteria* that yes, can cause ulcers and lead to cancer. I am one who got the cancer that it causes. It's important that you get the test done! It's all part of the process for weight loss surgery. It's a great thing that the doctor's are checking for this. Most people would not have an EGD unless they are symptomatic. It's not a test/procedure that is done as part of routine check-ups. After all the pre-op work is done, your well on your way. Your doctor will let you know what is required of you. Your insurance will also decide whether you need to do a supervised diet. Your husband should attend the appointments and seminars with you. Do lots of homework to be sure that this is the route you wish to take. It can be unnerving when you don't know all the facts. It's a wonderful tool that I have waited a long time for. I am excited to be freshly banded and my husband is very supportive and excited for me! I know it's scarey at first. Ask lots of questions, read some of the boards here of some of the experiences. I hope you feel better about this soon. ~C
