Hi everyone.... I too thought more people would be on this site this month for sure! Isn't it funny how this time last year, we couldn't tear ourselves away from here? And now, I can hardly find the time. But I've got to tell you, I miss the encouragement and the daily reminders of how to eat, what to eat and getting through all the trials and tribulations this Band has caused! I am not doing well with this new band in the weight loss department. The band itself is fine and doesn't seem to have any ill effects on my body (except the Left shoulder pain thing). Other than that, I haven't had any issues. But I'm NOT losing weight. I'm gaining. I can eat whatever I want and I'm hungry. This sucks. I really want that restriction back and the longer it takes to get it, the worse things are getting for me. I seem to give up by the end of the day and just eat. I always start the day strong, but am just too hungry (and UN-restricted) to keep it up for the whole day I guess. Oh, and exercise? Yeah right. I used to love it, now I feel like I did before I lost weight. Embarrassed to go and too tired, no motivation, blah blah blah. UGH!!!! Anyone feel like this or is it just me? LOL ~C

Hey girls! I'm a little late with this whole Facebook thing. I've had a profile for a little bit, but never really used it much. Is it better than here? Is that where everyone has gone? ~C
-
Juli, I am so happy for you! It sounds like you are doing so well. Congratulations and ROCK ON CHICA! ~C

Cubs Girl--Hi! Couple of things...No, I haven't heard from Leslie and I'm worried too. She and I kept in touch off of here and it's been quite a while since we've talked. I hope all is well for her and I will keep her on my list of prayers too. I HATE being hungry! I too hadn't been hungry for so long I'd forgotten what it was like!!!!! I am not doing so well these days...can eat too much, crave weird things and and hungry all the time. I got another fill today, and here's to hoping I'm a little closer than I was to a sweet spot! Tomorrow is my 1 year 'Bandiversary'. I'm so proud, yet disappointed in how things went for me. I most certainly have had my share of struggles in this journey, but I'm not giving up! I'm determined to be a hottie no matter what!!!! I wish I could post more. I am so busy with work and school...but I read daily, so I get encouragement from all of you every day! How is everyone? ~C

It's fun to see everyone's recap of the year! Congratulations everyone! I'm going to get another fill. I just don't feel a darn thing and I'm hungry all the time still. That is the part I hate the most. If the hunger is under control, I can control the rest. Oh well....hopefully this will help. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! ~C

Cubs- Wow! Whew! I don't even know where to start! It sounds like you have a lot going on right now. Be sure you are getting some sunlight! It's an easy way to tell your body to make Vit D. You only need 15 minutes a day, and try not to wear dark sunglasses. We are told to wear sunscreen all the time, but for a few minutes, it wouldn't hurt to let the sun in...not block it! Besides, it will just plain feel good. Some doctors will tell you that a few minutes in a tanning bed can help too. I am feeling much like CC these days. My trials and tribulations with my slip and no weight loss for so long now...I'm frustrated. I don't feel as energetic as I used to and I really miss it. I hate hate HATE being hungry!!! It's the worst! I am trying to stay positive, but I'm losing this battle! I know I can do this, I just need to reset myself and get back on it...or something. ~C
-
Hi everyone! I'm doing fine. No restriction though. I am waiting for it to kick in darnit! I will wait another week before I call for another one. Argh! CC- good to hear from you. It's been a while. All is well? Gwenn- Holidays can be tough, but hang in there! ~C

Hi Renee-welcome! Most of us on this thread were banded last year and we are quickly approaching our one year 'bandiversaries'. You are more than welcome to join us as you prepare for your band! How are you doing? Are you ready? Do you have questions? Reading the main boards is a really good way to learn about the band, the diets/exercise, the struggles and many other issues. Lots of support out here...LBT is great! ~c
-
I hope so too. Has she signed up to be on the boards for support? She might really benefit from having some other people like her to bounce stuff off of. Good luck! ~C

Hi MOM- Glad to hear her appointment went well. You and I don't live so far apart! Keep in mind that usually after a fill, there is irritation/swelling that can occur. She will need to take it easy over the next day or two and maybe be on liquids or soft/mushy things. She may not know her true restriction amount for a few weeks. It's strange, but that seems to happen to many people. I hope she finds some restriction that works for her and along with that and the weight loss, she may find motivation. Don't worry! ~C
-
Hi MOM- Sorry to hear of all these troubles your daughter is having. I hope you get this sorted out and she starts to lose weight. Where did she end up having surgery? Where do you live? ~C
-
Gwenn--Thanks! I like most mushies, but have been on them for so darn long now I am just craving normal food! I am a big soup eater--can eat it everyday. I have to learn to eat other stuff! LOL ~C
-
Yes, I'm fine now! I'm already sick of liquids and mushies! I'm kinda over it in that department you know? LOL I am so excited at the prospect of losing again. This has been quite a stall for me. I was doing so well there for a while and I'm tired of the delay! Listen to me complain...I'm just so glad this is gonna start up again! How is everyone? ~C

I GOT MY FILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay...I've never had a fill under fluoro before. What a fun experience. I like seeing the band and my bones! hee hee I am an RN, understand the whole process very well, blah blah blah, BUT!--I almost passed out! I suddenly felt this wave of nausea and could "feel" it inside. Oh, man! At first I was just like "hey, I could feel that and I'm a little nauseous" then all of a sudden I felt shakey and sweaty and weak....oh my! I held it together and got through it without her noticing! Thank goodness. I was scared I wouldn't get my fill if I had passed out! LOL Well, so get this! I have 8 cc's!!! Holy crap! We both watched the fluid and the fill was totally based on seeing the restriction begin on the monitor. She said she'd never put so much in before at once! I have a 14 cc band so it's little more than half full, but she said, and I quote "Wow, I'm surprised he put such a big band in you. You're so little"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I survived! I'm definitely feeling a difference and of course have been on liquids and mushies all day and for tomorrow as well. I am not hungry either!!! YAY! I'm loving that. Sorry this is so long...just wanted to share! ~C

Brandy! You look amazing!!! I'm so happy for you! ~C

Hi gang! I hate that I'm so busy that I can't even take the time to write a short note most days! It looks like everyone is doing well or at least getting back on track. I am going for my "first" fill tomorrow. Weird to be saying that after almost a year! I have been eating pretty crappy over the last few weeks and am definitlely ready for a fill. The doctor told me he was gonna be aggressive since I already know how this works. I really hope that's the case since I'm eager to get this thing going! Darla--This thread ROCKS! We are a very supportive bunch. We all pop in and out and no matter what, we always try to offer up a few ideas and help each other along. I get so much from everyone on here. Sometimes I think I couldn't have made it without this group. I see you're from Columbus. Have you gone to the meetings at Polaris? I think I remember seeing your name on the C-bus thread. Have we met? I have only been to 2 meetings in this year...PM me if you wanna talk. I'm on my way to C-bus in the AM for my fill. ~C

Funny you mention Leslie; I was just thinking of her today...I worry too. I spoke to her a few weeks back and then right after that her entire profile was deleted. It shows her as a guest now or something weird. I hope she is okay and one of us hears from her soon. ~C

I agree Numbrgirl! I don't want to be miserable either and being too tight is awful. Don't be afraid to get some out if you think you're too tight!
-
Hi everyone! I'm doing okay...thanks for asking. I am a wee bit discouraged, but also not trying too hard either. I will get my first fill on this coming Friday. I am eager for it let me tell you!!! I am so darn hungry and could easily fall into old habits. I am so glad I've come so far and have been able to at least maintain my new weight. I really want to start losing!!!!! ~C
-
Thank you all for never-ending encourgement you always give me! I am eager to get on with losing more weight, but I also understand that my body needs to heal. I am trying to be patient! ~C

Just a loving note from the WINNER! MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Hi J! I feel so bad for you with the pedals! I agree with BG that you got some bad advice and unfortunately it has given you reason to fear them. I hope you will find your way to a different pedal that will be simple for you to use. I love mine...but they are easy. I wouldn't use them either unless they were. My shoe got stuck once too (with a different kind of pedal than I'm using now!)...takes some tweaking on short rides before you really let loose! Let me know if and when you may be ready to try again, and I will be happy to hook you with some professional advice and maybe a trial from my LBS friend! ~C P.S. Hi everyone!!!

Hi everybody! Just checking in. I've got to tell you that I was given 'permission' to eat normal food by the doctor. Since then, I have thought that I wanted to eat all the things I don't normally get to. WELL......Let me tell you. It's been less than gratifying. I have been so disappointed. I thought I wanted BW3's wings...yeah, anticlimatic. Thought I wanted onion rings...ate one. ONE! Greasy. Thought I wanted pecan chicken...blech. Not so much. So then my friends came over this weekend and they are on a diet..South Beach. I was bummed because I thought we'd eat something "yummy" like they usually do (while I eat soup), but instead, we ate grilled chicken, tomatoes and salad. Well that was FRICKEN DELICIOUS!!! Funny how my tastes have changed. I am definitely getting more enjoyment out of the healthier options than the 'crap' I thought I was missing out on. So this week, I've learned that I'm NOT really missing out on anything, and my 'pallate' has changed. I really LIKE the food I've been eating for almost a year!! WOO HOO! I feel like that is such a victory in itself. I wish I were down more in weight...but you all know I've had my share of uncontrollable set-backs. But I am thrilled at the REAL changes I've made! Just wanted to share.... ~C

Thanks Gwen! Glad you're back!

Do me, do me! LOL Okay, lemme see if I got this right. I'm 5'4 1/2" so I always just say 5'5". I started at 269 and think goal should be 140. That makes my excess weight 129#. I've lost 80, so that would equate to 62%. Right? Did I figure that correctly? The good news is that I'm at least in the average range at this point. I'm certainly not feeling 'done' and getting re-banded should eventually kick in. I had my post-op follow up today and didn't get a fill yet. He is letting me move on to regular food and will give me my 'first' fill in 2 weeks. He wanted to make sure I get it done under flouro since I had such a bad slip. He showed me the band I got and it's amazing how much softer this one is compared to the older model I had---"older" is relative of course because it was the 4 cc band that so many of us have. Now they are using more of the 10 and 14 cc bands. I am hoping that I won't get stuck as often with this one because it has a little "give" to it. Anyway, I'm encouraged. He also released me to exercise, so hopefully I can drag my butt back to the gym and get this show back on the road!! ~C
