Oh Leslie!!!!!! I'm so sorry! Although, I'm thinking your "rolling over" in bed was more like "rolling around in bed" *wink* *wink* LOL Okay, in all seriousness. Flipping a port, especially one placed in your chest is difficult to do. I'm wondering if a stitch broke or something. Strange though. Also, I too no longer log/journal my food. I was so good about that in the beginning. I'm not exercising like I should. I walk, but I should be doing more. I do not feel restriction either since my first fill. I'm disappointed, but I know that my doctor will give me another. I was supposed to call him this afternoon to pop over and get a fill, but work was too busy and I couldn't. I might not be able to get one now until next week. Hang in there Leslie! I'm here for ya chica! ~C

I still don't like the Rep thing either. Please get rid of it. I'd rather see people's band date there instead! Or weight statistics (before and after)...you know...somthing inspiring!!!! ~C

Great job everyone! I'm so proud to be an April Avenger! ~C

Wow...took me a minute to read through all D's posts! LOL Hi there D! I'm a new addition around here over the winter. It's nice to meet you! Hi everyone! HP- I sold two bikes on Ebay and got almost what I paid for them!! And that was two years later! You might do very well that way. You could see if your local LBS would be willing to package your bike for you (to ship it to the winner) or give you an empty box that they would throw away. ~C

J- Yes. It's funny, when it's in bold it just blares right back at me! LOL I know what to do. Although I would like to say...how is it that people that don't exercise still manage to lose large amounts of weight? I DO want to exercise and I'm not asking for an excuse. I am just not understanding why I wouldn't lose weight when I'm not consuming very many calories? HP- Congratulations on another new bike! ~C

Welcome Freebird! Good job on riding your bike to work! Any amount of riding is great! I hear those Trikke's are really fun! ~C

I still don't feel anything. I got my first fill on Friday. Nothing. I called today and left a message to see about how quickly I can have another fill. I don't feel any different (except still tired from the weekend from Hell!). I am happy to report though that I made my first mini goal of 25 lbs. lost. I have been stuck at 23# for several weeks, but finally over the little hump I needed to reach my goal. I am disappointed that I'm not losing more. I would've thought I'd be doing better than this. Of course I suck at the exercise thing. I was so worried before about jostling things around, but now I can't even bring myself to do anything. Work is kicking my ass these days, but that's no excuse on my days off. I'm averaging about 1000 cals per day. I dunno. I was so happy those first few weeks when it was just melting off. I am bummed that I've stopped so soon into this. Any suggestions? ~C

Hi Salsa, I had nutritional testing before my LB surgery last month. It was discovered that I was deficient in Protein and Vit D. Both of which were useful to my doctors. I started eating more protein and although I've been a 'stickler' for staying out of the sun, my doctor actually has asked me to spend a few minutes each day outside whenever possible! I actually feel a little better...as I know you can when you get a little sunshine! I also think it was good for me to know that my protein levels were already low (BEFORE surgery) so I have to be even more diligent about getting enough post op. I am sorry your insurance won't pay for this. Mine did as it was considered part of my pre-op testing. Take care and good luck with your PS! ~C

OMG I just now saw this!! Thank you so much! ~C

It's okay sweetie! Yes, your gonna start losing again. I think our bodies just need some time to catch up with the changes. I hit a wall too, but I figured it was more important to have nutrition to encourage all the healing than to lose weight. I just got my first fill and the scale is starting to move again. Hang in there. It's gonna be okay! PM if you'd like! ~C

What are these challenges all about? I've seen some threads on stuff like that, but don't really know how they work. ~C

Sometimes our lives dictate the amount of time we have to play around! If work and home life are keeping you busy, the last thing I'd worry about is getting on line!! Besides, it sounds like you are getting outside quite a bit and have been able to ride. That is always good! You feel okay? ~C

Yeah...what's in Kentucky?

I like gardening!! I have a project just about every summer to work on in the flower beds. This year I have quite a bit of work to do because of the floods we had here. One flower bed was completely wiped out so I need to re-plant it. It makes the house look pretty. Any mowing and shoveling/mulching is deferred to the DH for heavy labor while I direct him! Otherwise J, I would hire it done. Except for the flowers. ~C

What's the matter BooBoo?

Okay I have two words: Yuck! Ouch! You got that from running? Did the doctor take it off all the way for you or did you?
-
That is awesome laurend! You have got to be so proud! I'll bet they take back the shorts even without a receipt...just exchange for a smaller size! ~C

J Who decides your goal weight? This is one area I don't feel that I've been given much direction in. I have my own goals: 1) weight I could LIVE with 2) weight I want to be 3) DREAM weight I have no idea what my doctor is hoping for! Last time I asked, he said, "well lets just wait and see how you do" I am alreading dreaming of PS. The thought of being put back together again is wonderful. I've been a wreck since my daughter was born. ~C
-
J- When are you thinking of getting PS? Do you have your own criteria to meet or a specific weight? I am so tired and stressed. This weekend on call has been kicking my butt. I can't tell if my fill is doing anything or not because my schedule has been so screwy. I'm thinking I'm not as hungry though, but maybe I'm just so tired I don't care! LOL ~C

My nightmare hospital experience this weekend
Turler replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
YES!!!! You are right! Now it's time to take the good experience you had today and turn things around for yourself! I'm sorry you had to go through all that you did, but it sounds like things are looking up. You'll be getting some tests done to figure out what's going on and it also sounds like you are getting some new doctors. You should definitely talk to your surgeon. At least to tell him you won't be coming back due to the treatment you received from him at the hospital. Make sure you write that letter you talked about earlier. The hospital CEO needs to know what is going on in his/her hospital. Also, you should find out what school the students were from and write a letter to their director. Would any of us want people like that (laughing at patients in pain) caring for any of us??? Just remember...You can hire or fire any doctor. You are paying for a service. If you don't like their service for ANY reason, you can fire them. We tend to forget that we control which doctor gets our money whether you are self pay or have insurance. Keep us posted. ~C -
Nice HP! Very patriotic! I'm glad you like it. It's a change to go to drop bars, but fun! Have a good time with your new baby! ~C

My nightmare hospital experience this weekend
Turler replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
80'schick: I don't know how to help you feel better. I would certainly suggest that you find another doctor. Even if that means going to the ER for immediate relief. You had mentioned a differrent hospital that was nearby. Maybe you could go to THAT ER instead. You have been in pain for a little while now and as stated before it is changing (was lower, now higher). Flexeril is a muscle relaxant. If it's not working, than maybe the pain you have is not muscle related after all. What diagnosis did the physician at Care Now give you? Are you in touch with your surgeon? You are so newly banded that you NEED to be seeing a doctor to manage at least the band/post op part of your health. If what you're experiencing is not band related, than you need to be seeing your Primary Care Physician to establish a plan. Maybe you need to see a specialist. Have you had x-rays? CT scan? Lab work? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to help. ~C -
Three things that are driving me absolutely BATTY in these forums!!
Turler replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Rants & Raves
That always make me laugh! A lot of people ask me and I think it's so funny because she really is just adorable. She has a big personality to go with her big hair. Everyone that sees her (in person) just falls in love. She is not your typical bug-eyed Peke. Okay...sorry...hijack is over! ~C -
