Welcome! How are you? Excited? ~Carol

D- Sorry your brother upset you. You know the hard work you've put in to this. Don't let him take all those victories away from you! You have so much to be proud of and you don't have to prove or justify anything to anyone!! It's too bad the two of you can't celebrate eachother's accomplishments regardless of how you got there. Keep your chin up! ~C

Hi Froggi...sorry, I had to go to bed! I'm in Findlay...just south of Bowling Green. If I were to mail you my frogs, that would imply that I'd had to touch them. Ick. I don't know if I can do that! But you could come and visit me and take them with you! LOL
-
hehe I just think they are so cute! I'd still probably be too scared to touch one, but I just love everything else about them! LOL
-
I had a clue! LOL

Seriously-- How much do YOU eat at one time?

I suppose I'd ask for clairfication from your dietician. Mine shows me the measuring cups and says "you can have all that will fit in here". That's it. I think what makes it hard is that food is not shaped like a measuring cup! LOL It's hard for me to visualize some foods and their amounts. I still struggle with the portion size thing too. Since this last fill, I've had to learn the hard way (getting stuck/vomiting). I am doing much better the last couple of weeks and just might get the hang of this. I keep saying that my brain hasn't caught up and me and my band haven't learned to live together yet! It's only been 3 months, so I'm trying! ~C -
We get toads in our flower beds (we have a pond in the back) and they always scare me and make me scream! LOL I wish I weren't so scared of them, but i just am. It's not like they chase me or bite or anything. I think turtles are really cute though!

I hear ya girl! I like little furry things, but I kinda draw the line at mice/rats. Blech. It's the tail more than anything else I think. Ewww.

Me too Froggi!

BG- I'm so sorry about your loss. You're in my thoughts and prayers. ~C

Wow you girls were active last night! J- Hope you're feeling better. Sorry you're sick. D- You are amazing! Where do you get all that energy? SDP- Great bike choice! I have a Fuji also and I love it! I've got a Fuji Professional 2.0. It's cobalt blue/graphite, full carbon. It rocks! I'm sorry you had such a crappy experience in the bike shop. We are best friends with the local bike shop owners here. They are so wonderful! The owner is morbidly obese, which I think helps people of size feel more comfortable and also see that if he can ride, so can they! Side story: I was on vacation in Colorado a few weeks ago and they have a bike shop on every corner. I am in the market for a new seat so I thought I'd look around and see what they've got. I go into one store and I'm looking at the rack of seats and the guy says, "Oh, I don't have any 'comfort bike seats' in stock right now". I was instantly offended and said, "well that's okay since I don't ride a comfort bike! I ride a road bike." Ugh. I hate that. Shame on him and anyone else that passes judgement. BG and J- You girls gettin' excited for the Muddy Buddy ??? ~C

L2L: Men suck! Wow! I can't believe he did that to you! But as GA said...you're motivated now, so show him just what you can do! I think you'll do awesome! Woo Hoo! Keep up the good work! ~Carol

Thanks HP You and D are so amazing! I'm jealous! I'll get this right at some point I'm sure. I'm fighting with my band...trying to get used to it, figuring out how it works and all that. So far, I'm able to defeat it...but I'm starting to "get the message". My brain is having trouble catching up to the 'full' signals. I'll get it. Someday I'll be just like you guys! You all are so far ahead of me in this that you all don't even talk about your bands much anymore! LOL ~C

Hey everyone! I've not been riding much, but I sure miss you all. I'm putting a new seat on so hopefully that will be some encouragement. I've been riding the bike at the gym, but we all know that isn't the same!!!! J- you've mentioned before that you tend to gravitate to the gym because it takes less time. I know what you mean. It's so much easier than the time it takes to ride outdoors. I've been doing more on the treadmill as well which is good, but it's just not as satisfying as the bike. I suck. I wimp out too easy...especially when it's hot. Help me!!!!! ~C

Hi Gang! You are all doing great! I saw the dietician today, and she thinks I'm too tight also. My surgeon is out of town, but if I can't learn the required "behaviour modification" by the time he gets back, I will beg him again to take some out. I am starting to doubt things though. What if the band is as it should be? What if it's ME that can't seem to adjust? What if he's right? Maybe the band is perfect and I'm just over doing it??? I have been going through this with myself for a while now. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just overeating. My brain may not have caught up. It's only been 3 1/2 months since surgery. On paper my weight loss is great! But really I'm not losing much. I lost those 2 pounds on vacation, but that's been about it. I will try my hardest to learn to live with this. I really will. I am just getting defeated like before when I was on so many diets!! You know, you only stay motivated while you're losing! LOL Well, I'm on my way to the gym. Something is sure to work someday! I like seeing this thread active again! ~Carol

L2BT: Where in CO are you from? I just returned from a vacation home to CO and we spent quite a bit of time in RMNP! I love the drive up Trail Ridge, but I love Fall RIver Road even better! I hated to move away and I just love going back whenever we can! Great job on the riding...you'll be there next year! And yes, it's amazing to see those bicyclists ride up the mountains like that! ~Carol

L2L, He is Bulgarian...so he is visiting home! LOL There are no partners in his practice. He is it. Other surgeons in town take call while he is gone. That is why I'm thinking I won't get any better results while he is away. I am doing okay. I've been sticking to Soup and other soft/mushie foods. I am frustrated that since I'm "starving to death" I should at least be losing. What is wrong with me???? LOL I plan to have a serious talk with him when he gets back though. I really think a slight unfill ought to do the trick. I don't enjoy being this tight--at all! Of course, I hated being hungry all the time too though. It's a no win situation right now for me. I'm officially a complainer. Thanks for caring so much about me! You're awesome! ~C

Yeah...one of these days I'll post/send some pics! I would totally stalk my doctor if I could at this point. I was gone for 2 weeks, and I came home to find out that he is in Bulgaria for 3 weeks! I'm pretty sure the doctor on call won't mess with fills, but I'm thinking of calling him anyway just to see. I would like to push the envelope and request a fluoro test to see if I've stretched or slipped. I'm so worried about that with all the weirdness/vomiting I've had. Argh! All of this is starting to depress me. ***sigh*** ~Carol

Exercise, Exercise and more Exercise
Turler replied to thunderstorm816's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Brandy, I noticed that in your signature you say you're at your sweet spot...what exactly does that mean? What does it feel like? How do you know? I'm jealous. I was suffering from "starvation" even after a fill, then I got another fill and now I'm suffering from "too tight" (at least I think). I don't know. ~Carol P.S. Sorry to hijack the thread... -
You look fabulous Sista! I'm not one for posting pics, but I just don't know how you are losing so much! I am just not as successful as you are. I wish I were, but I think maybe I just don't have the hang of this thing. Keep up the good work. You look amazing. And yes, our month has been a little slow on activity. Where is everyone? Btw, I love the hot dog and soda on the first pic. Kinda funny! ~Carol

I've never tried the boxing. I must be missing out! I guess the title didn't appeal to me, but I think I'll give it a shot! LOL ~C

I have a LOVE-HATE relationship with my band. The two of us haven't figured out how to co-exist in harmony yet. I want one thing, it wants another and so forth. It's only been 3 months, so I'm sure we'll come to some sort of compromise! But yes, I was amazed to have lost anything at all!

Posting to say I'm back from vacation! So HIIIIII everybody! ~C

Thanks Leslie, Yeah. I have been actually vomiting. It's as you describe...nicely pureed and colorful. I just can't figure out what's causing it. Some days are just fine, and others aren't. I am definitely frustrated and not sure how to address this with him again. I think he is being unreasonable too. Of course, I have no idea how his nurse is delivering the message to him either. She is a not-so-friendly type that tends to roll her eyes and make you feel bad for calling. Even when you're in person she has a way of making you feel like you are bothering her. Nice, huh? Gives us nurses a bad rep! Good luck at your appointment. I hope you get some relief! ~C

GG- The hunt for the Wii Fit was just as challenging as buying the Wii itself! I found mine at Best Buy on accident! Watch for ads in the paper...the store advertising will have some stock. You gotta just keep checking. Look everywhere!! Good luck! ~C
