Hi, I live in Manhattan, and was sleeved in Manhattan on Valentines day. How are things going for you?
  3. Hi Susan, I am still here, things are going well for me. I am so thankful that I have my band and for the weight loss "tool" it is. Hope everyone else is well. ~Carol
  4. I too have NO regrets, I wish I had had this done years ago. I could not be anymore satisfied with my results, my looks, and how I feel!!! I hope everyone else is doing well and happy. Take Care. ~Carol
  5. Hi everyone, Just checking in, things are going well here. I had my first fill today, I have lost 31 pounds so far. I am back on liquids for two days, then soft/mushies for two days then back to regular food after that. That is what my doctor uses after fills, what do your docs suggest after fills?

  10. Hi August Bandsters, Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I can't wait to move on to mushies next week, I agree I want something salty (and crunchy but I know that will still be awhile.) My big problem is TMI coming, I am so constipated, I haven't pooped in July 30, I have tried, colace, coffee, apple juice, even milk of magnesia, I even resorted to drinking a protien shake, ( I am allergic to milk and the protein shakes give me a dumping syndrome type thing) you can tell I am getting kind of desperate. But other than that I am feeling really good, I love the band, and doing okay on eating, I have only been really hungry yesterday at lunch, so far so good. Hope everyone else is doing well.
  11. I seem to always have a sweet taste in my mouth and also feel like I constantly have bad breath. YUCK!! Also, some things don't taste the same, ie. water, I used to love water, now I am having to put crystal lite in some just to get it all down. Who knows?!?!? But so far I love my band, I still am on the liquid/pureed part, and I am so excited I get to start mushies next week. Yeah!!

This does sound good, hopefully someone will remember the recipe and post it. I am week post op and anything that is not liquified sounds good. LOL

    severe bruising...

Maybe there is an OR nurse on the boards somewhere that can answer the big sticky thing question. I think they might put a grounding patch on you sometimes when they are going to be cauterizing you ( I am not a hundred percent sure on this but remember seeing this one time.) Maybe that is the big sticky thing, I too have a mystery bruise on my left arm but it is small, I am bruised at my port site but the most obnoxious issue is the irritation I got from the bandaids, I guess I have an allergy to the glue on the bandaids. Who knew???
  15. Mine took around 2 hours this included a hiatal hernia repair, and I must say my doc did a fantastic job my incisions look marvelous!!! I also stayed in overnight, he told my husband I could go home in the afternoon, if I wanted but I decided to stay for one night, best idea, IV toradol, warm blankets, and 24 hours care. My husband was right by my side the whole time and he took excellent care of me also, but so did the docs and nurses.
  16. It is great to hear from everyone who was banded around the 4th, and to hear how they are doing. I am doing well, just like another bander said, "it gets better by the hour." Thankfully I have not had any nausea and my gas pains are getting better (thank goodness) :scared2:
  17. I was banded on the 4th, came home from the hospital yesterday, and am doing well today. Working on getting in my Water and walking, so far so good. How is everyone else newly banded doing? ~Carol
  18. Hi, I was banded on the 4th also, I would love to have band buddies that way we can support each other. ~Carol
  19. Kit Kat, An incentive spirometer is a plastic thing you use to help keep your lungs open and to prevent post-op pneumonia. I was glad to have it, as my chest hurt either from the gas or hiatal hernia repair and using this had me taking deep breaths, especially the first day when I was so sleepy. Good luck on your journey.
  20. Hey CarrieLynn, Cottage cheese, not bad, you could want a cookie!! LOL I found it funny with my 2 week pre-op diet I was hungry for things that were good for me. Who knew I would ever eat a veggie burger and like it!!
  21. Well we all sound about in the same boat. LOL. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. My most pain was from the gas and getting up and walking definitely helped that. I also have been sleeping a lot. I drink my water, walk, have my breakfast, watch tv for 30 minutes then go back to drinking my water and then back to sleep, then on to lunch and dinner, that is what has consisted of the last 2 days. I have only taken the lortab before bed to help relax me, lucky for me I am able to sleep on both sides along with my back. I do you a pillow to support my tummy when on my sides. I am going to try and figure out how to do a ticker and would love to keep in touch with each of you to support each other. Thanks for sharing each of your stories, Carol
  22. Hi, I started my two week pre-op (liver shrinking) diet today!! So far so good. My friend who will be banded in the fall is doing this diet with me for the first week. Misery loves company!! :bored: Actually the only part I am having some trouble with is the protein shakes, I have a hard time getting them down (I don't care for the thickness/or texture of them.) Hopefully I will be able to find one that I can tolerate. Anyone else getting banded on August 4th? ~Carol
