Christal replied to bigbaby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

I recently joined the Y and used my free "quick start" work outs. I have a question on weight training. I am already a big girl, 5'10 - 11 currently about 250# size 14-16. I have a lot of muscle, and I don't want to get bulkier. I have had several trainers tell me that weight lifting is not going to make me bulkier. Anyone know if this is true? I don't want to start lifting all of these weights and gain weight! I can handle a lot of weight, they are usally amazed at what I can do and for some reason no matter how many trainers tell me this I just have a hard time believing it! Thanks!

awesome, thank you! I guess I better quit scale watching though lol!

Is surgery in Mexico safe?
Christal replied to steph74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too had surgery in Mexico with no problems. I choked at the US prices too and knew I could not afford it. Do you research and you will be fine. There are a lot of posts about Mexico surgeries. Wasabubblebutt has a thread on how to research Mexico doctors that has a lot of great information. -
Oct 07 Bandsters - how are you doing?
Christal replied to yankeerobin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you getting in enough protien? Your body may need Protein. -
I had a fill last week and was doing fine, more restriction but not too much. Yesterday I could hardly keep anything down. So I went back to liquids. I just tried to eat dinner after liquids all day and I am not sure it is going to stay down! Can it seriously take more than a week for a fill to work or is it something else??
-
Mine were probably close to a DD, but I still wear underwires AND my boobs have shrunk significantly. I am definately going to need a lift and a fill up! lol

Can it take over a week for a fill to "work"??
Christal replied to Christal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok, thank you! Just wanted to make sure. I was worried something had gone wrong! Glad it is working though! -
wow, some people never seem to amaze me. wasa you find them all don't you? Lol! So I have a question on flouro. My last fill I asked if it was available and I was told I didn't need it unless something was wrong. I still want it done for my own sanity to KNOW that nothing is wrong. Do you know where I can have it done? Maybe a trip to TJ??

plastic surgery in mexico
Christal replied to lapthismargaret's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I met a lady at the doctors office last time I went that went and had a tummy tuck and boob job for $6500. -
Don't feel bad, I just broke a 6 week plateau this morning. It is very discouraging! Last Monday I went and got a fill and I worked my butt off yesterday and watched every calorie that I put in and when I went to bed I told myself "if this scale doesn't move in the morning something is wrong!" this morning.... down 3#! Sometimes you just have to really watch what you are putting in your mouth and burn more than you eat.

EXTREME tightness after long exercise session?
Christal replied to losingjusme's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I have always felt tighter after working out, even 30 minutes at Curves. I have asked other people and they thought I was crazy, but I know it is true! I did a good hour of cardio today and tried to eat pasta too.... no go! -
Anyone wear skirts now but didn't before??
Christal replied to Christal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
thats funny I always wish I could call them on myself! -
I was a C for most of my life, as I gained more weight I was up to a D. I am still in a D, probably need to go be fitted again, they are probably almost a C, but they have deflated and fallen When people lose any significant amount of weight I think this is an issue surgery or no surgery. I just hope I can get a lift one day!

how much time to take off from work.
Christal replied to alsorl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work a desk job and took a week off and was fine to go back after that. I just took it easy when I did have to get up and move around. -
Did you have weight problems as a child?
Christal replied to isabelle290's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been overweight all my life... The smallest I remember being from my teenage years to now is a 14-16. I used to get teased as a child, they used to call me Whopper. I hated riding the school bus, gym class, it wasn't fun. I am now at a size 16 and am gladly throwing all the old clothes away because I will NEVER need them again! -
I can't believe a dr would say that Curves is a waste of time. Any exercise is better than none in my book. I was a member of Curves for 2 years. You have to be devoted and really like it, if you don't you won't go. After 2 years I needed and wanted more so I joined the YMCA. It wasn't that much more than Curves (they also have financial aid if needed). The one I go to has a full gym, olympic size pool, child care, classes (yoga, dance, pillates, spin, WATER AEROBICS). I have to say that I enjoy going there, I take my son and he swims and hangs out in the teen room while I work out. I did yoga for the first time last week and enjoyed that as well. It is definately worth looking into if there is one close to you!

Freaking out a little (clothing purge)
Christal replied to Fairysaddle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What you are going through is very normal. I went through it and now that I am used to it I have taken it to a whole new level! I am cleaning out the entire house! It actually feels good to get rid of "the old me". I suggest going to Goodwill or Savers to get clothes while you are in between sizes. That is the cheapest route! -
My son does the hug test to me all the time. It is cute and makes me feel proud. We also share the same surgery date!!
-
LOL! I am in a similar situation. I haven't had a fill in a couple months and have my appetite back and want it to go away! I couldn't decide if I should get one or not so I scheduled one for next week. I guess a little can't hurt!

Anyone notice a difference on how you are treated once you start losing weight?
Christal replied to Ddem's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ditto, I'm still not sure how to take it. One man in particular, an older man that I knew before didn't care for bigger women but sure loved to look at smaller women. He sure is friendly now. Some days I want to punch him lol! But yeah, I notice people hold the door for me more now and things like that too. -
Treadmill VS Elliptical
Christal replied to bandster_1007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
treadmill  elliptical  I get sooo bored on the treadmill. My trainer has me doing 60 minutes of cardio a day, I was doing 20 minutes bike, 20 minutes, elliptical, and 20 minutes treadmill.... this week I am switching it up. I can't take much more of the treadmill, I can hardly make it through the 20 minutes even with the ipod and tvs. I am going to try 15 bike, 30 elliptical, 15 treadmill.
