tatsmom~
When I was on the mushie stage I LOVED canned chili (like Hormel) with cheese and sour cream. Also refried Beans the same way. I know it is hard, but try not to be snacking all night and then you won't have to worry about it. Try some sugar free hot cocoa or a glass of iced tea. That is what I always have in my hand while family is stuffing their face ICED TEA!
Good Luck and let us know how you do!

Another girl here at work said that our company's insurance pays for Tummy Tuck and boob job, whatever you need to get back to normal... That sounds great and all, but I am scared to have that all done. Isn't it really painful???
BUT, when I am weighing in at 180 and have a lot of skin or boobs hanging to knees, I might change my mind!

I saw that you got banded by Spiegel... Dr. Spivak did mine and we are supposed to wait 1/2 hour. I always wait and have not had any problems.
-
I would not say it is painless Everyone is different, but it was Very uncomfortable. (The needle going into your skin) The Dr. actually putting saline in is not painful, you can't feel that.

I always show the DH what I will have on before we go out... Drives him nuts! Especially if I show him right before church... cracks me up!

MY DH would die if I covered up that much!!! They look comfy tho!!!

I thought I was going to have the same problem, but I don't. My jeans are so tight when I first buy them that I can not breathe while sitting Hubby likes them that way Me too.
Where is your port?
-
I didn't get any numbing... but it wasn't bad at all. Just uncomfortable. My port is easy to find and nice and flat they told me, so it wasn't bad at all! Good Luck!

Penni you will overcome this! You have been thru a lot and you will get on track!
When is the Biggest Loser on?
-
YES, please see a Dr.
Someone posted that their pap had hurt... but I have a great Dr. and I don't even know when he is examining me, he is great!
Ask around if you are really scared... and like Miramu said, you have insurance and they can verify it by a simple phone call.
GOOD LUCK!!

Welcome!
That is SO awesome that you are doing this together! You will both do great!

I can't believe the Dr. said it wasn't a permanent thing. It is supposed to be permanent, but can be removed if complications arise.

Why is crossing your legs not good for you?
I could see why it wouldnt be good for men... wink, wink!

Welcome!!!!!!

lyndalafe~
I too have a sweet tooth. I have promised myself though to stay completely away from any sweets of any kind. I am the type that I can say or one a week or 2 a week because I would consume everything in sight. Like I can't stop. But if I tell myself absolutely none under any circumstances, then I just do it and am proud to do it.
This is DAY 2 with no sweets and I KNOW the weight will start dropping quicker. By the way, I am almost 2 months out and have lost 33 lbs, so that isn't a bad start at all!

Similar fiasco with our wedding... But it wasn't my dad... My hubby's dad is a butt and we didn't even invite him to the wedding because he is a dead beat alcoholic and cares nothing for his family... BUT, that was my hubby's decision... I went with what HE wanted because it was HIS dad.
I think your sister needs to do what SHE wants and screw what is PROPER and what everyone else thinks!

I decided to FINALLY start working on the tummy and last night tried to do some stomache crunches...
It was somewhat painful... like sore from surgery still? Has anyone else had a problem with stomache exercises? (I am almost 2 months banded)
THANKS!!!
-
I know that if I wanted surgery, I HAD to meet with Spivak... so I am glad you told me your experience with Spiegel... now I KNOW I couldn't recommend him to someone else. YIKES!!! I hope Spivak has never done something like that!

Are we weighing in and posting NSV's on Monday mornings?
-
Just a couple of replies to the posts I have read...
zone~ I didn't have to go on a liquid pre-op diet. Did they tell you that you did? I am just wondering if any of Spivak's patients had to???
It seemed to me when I went to Spivak's seminar that he would rather see patients get the band... but he did not push either one. Dr. Spivak will not do surgery on just anyone that walks through the door. He turned down a friend of mine because she had another weight loss surgery and it didn't work... but Spiegel did it for her.
I really think that you should meet all of the Dr.'s you are interested in and see which you feel more comfortable with.
Oh, and Dr. Spivak has a 0 mortality rate also!!! (That was big for me )
Nice to hear about all the area Dr.'s here!!!

My hubby and I watched her on 20/20 the other night. We both think that she had the band. It seemed to me that she lost the weight more slowly than a bypass patient would have. The lady interviewing her was being a b!tch though. I don't really care for Star, but I think she looks great now and if she had surgery that is her own business... BUT like someone else said... she tries to get all this publicity for everything and wants to pick and choose certain secrets??? I think being in the public eye is just something the rich and famous must deal with.
