I Was So Excited To Read All The Posts From My Fellow Kentuckians. I Am Just Now Getting Started. I Attended My Seminar This Past Tuesday & Am In The Process Of Getting My Packet Completed & Turned In. I'm Planning On Using Dr. Jeff Allen In Louisville With The Norton's Group. I Did Have Something Happen Today That Excited Me Though. About 30 Of The People That I Work With Are Doing "the Biggest Loser". It Started 2 Weeks Ago & We Weigh In Every Week. Last Week I Had Gained 1.2 Pounds From My Beginning Weight, But Today When I Weighed I Had Lost 4.6 Pounds! I Was Soooo Excited!! I Really Didn't Do Anything Special, Except I'm Watching My Portion Sizes & Am Trying To Drink More Water (which I Really Don't Like)! Let's All Keep In Touch & Support Each Other!! -

Hi Melinda! I'm glad someone who lives close to me is on this site. I'm the user who asked about doctors in Louisville, Kentucky that you replied to. I'm just now getting the ball rolling for the lap band surgery & in fact I am going through the doctors at Norton's. The ones at St. Mary & Elizabeth are "OUT OF NETWORK" for any insurance company EXCEPT Anthem - we have United Healthcare. Our insurance covers the surgery though, which was good! Just a little about myself - my name is actually "RONNA". I'm married to the most wonderful man in the world & have been for 23-1/2 years. We have one daughter, almost 22 years old who is a nurse, & we have one PRECIOUS granddaughter whom we're nuts about! We also have a zoo at our house with 5 cats (Koko, Tigger, Smokie, Snickers & Spooks) & 2 dogs (Heidi is a Siberian Husky & Leila is a Black Lab). I would love to keep in touch with you. Keep me posted on your progress! -
Hi! I Am So Glad To See This Thread & Would Love To Be A Part Of It! I'm Not Banded Yet, Just Getting The Whole Process Started. However, I Do Feel That Our Gracious Lord Put Doctors On This Earth For A Reason - To Help People. We Are People Who Need A Little Help With Weight Loss! I Know That I Can Do This Because The Lord Will Give Me The Strength. My Favorite Verse In The Bible Is Phil. 4:13 "i Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me". Let's All Support Each Other With Our Surgery & In Our Christian Walk!

Gosh! After reading some of the posts on this site with complications, I'm almost scared now to have banding done. OMG, I mean people getting dehydrated, vomiting, having to be hospitalized, etc. Am I just making something out of nothing or what? Please someone let me know if I need to worry so much. Before reading all of this, really the biggest thing I was afraid of was being put under anesthesia because I do get VERY SICK after being put to sleep for surgery, but hopefully we can avoid that problem from the get go! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME TRY & FIGURE THIS OUT! Thanks!

Hi! I'm new to this site! I'm just now getting started on the whole lap band procedure. I'm type 1 diabetic & currently wear an insulin pump. I'm at least 100 lbs overweight & my endocrinologist said yesterday (1/25/08) that I meet the criteria for the surgery. I'm scheduled to attend a required seminar with the surgeon that my endocrinologist recommends on 2/11/08. I guess my question is this - is this going to be a "nightmare" to get covered? We currently having United Healthcare & fortunately it is a very good insurance policy, but I can't find anything regarding bariatric surgery. However, I did find that "liquid diets" for the treatment of obesity ARE NOT COVERED, so I'm afraid of what the answer to the surgery will be. Is there anyone out there who is also a type 1 diabetic that has had the surgery? If so, I would love to hear from you! Any advice at all on what to expect would be greatly appreciated!

Post-op: So depressed... so lost
heidisue replied to adorkbl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry you feel depressed L.A. I know how you feel, I suffer from depression too. I am on an antidepressant that has helped me tremendously though. I'm on Lexapro which has been the best one for me so far. Just try not to overdo things & get plenty of rest. -
