Boy, I've been doing everything wrong. Way too many carbs. I'm sitting here on my "pitty-pot" because I'm stuck at 260 for a month and feeling very disheartened. I keep reading about you all eating cereal, and bread and popcorn and other high carb stuff and your tickers are like at 1/2 ??? How do you do it? Last night I had a Weight Watchers lasagne, carrots and peaches. Later I ate a pork chop and threw up. ??? I'm very confused. Somebody kick my butt into gear please. Thanx Pam

Hi all, I just read this entire thread. I'm positively green with envy. I used to ride way back in my younger and much thinner days. My horse was an Arabian. I have balance issues now (I have enough trouble keeping myself vertical without being up on a horse) so riding, even if I could haul myself into the saddle, is out of the question. Maybe I should get just an old horse who just likes to stand around and eat, be groomed, petted, and loved. Anyway, I was banded 2/4/08 by Dr. Rohrer. No problems except the ones I create for myself. I've taken that "one bite too many" about four times. I should be getting the picture by now wouldn't you think. I've lost 40lbs but a lot of that was mostly from the pre-op phase. I hate those powdered protein mixes. Yuk, shudder shudder. I do like the Slim Fast-low carb . It's 20g of protein per can, so I have 4 per day and try to eat lots of protiens like eggs and cottage cheese and meats. I try to get enough liquid, but sometimes I think it'd be just like my one swallow toooooo much. Golly, I do go on! But that's where I am right now. I feel pretty much ashamed of myself for going over that line, I hope I haven't made my band slip. As of today I started to really try and follow the rules. Good luck to us all! Pam I am 63, on Medicare, and They paid, well, they and my Sterling Option 1.

Oof, if I bend over when I have to burp I throw up everything I have just finished eating. If that happens, I'm not getting any nutritional value at all am I?

Anyone not losing due to emotional eating/eating around band?
Montana Pam replied to mandi78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
BrandyII, I sure hope I get the hang of this soon. I think I've been trying to fit this to ME instead of to the Lap Band rules and diet! While fitting this to ME, I've throwing up a lot -- 4 times. Now I'm really scared that I've made my Lap Band slip. There are a lot of things that I can eat with no problems, ie. cottage cheese, Soup, soft stuff. But then along came Easter dinner, then came the frozen beef patties I bought. One is just WAAAAY to much for me. I'm not sure whether it was the frying, or just meat, but today I bought some KFC drumsticks & removed the skin, same thing, uurrrp! My chihuahua is lovin' my left-overs. I didn't cut the meat in small pieces, I was hungry and wolfed it down, then all of a sudden I just knew I'd crossed that line and I'd be sick again. Could this have made my band slip? I've GOT to get a handle on this! Sometimes I can't tell if I'm really full or what, then there are those other times that I know the second I swallow that last bite, I KNOW. I'm still depressed and SO ashamed of myself. I know everybody is looking at me and saying (to themselves of course) still only lost 40lbs? Well thanks for letting me rant. Thanks Pam -
Wow Karen, I'm impressed. Don't give up, you're doing SO great!!! Maybe it just takes a while for someone with your extra metabolism to kick in. I had a good loss at first but then I was in the hospital for about 2 1/2 weeks with pneumonia and they fed me just regular food and dummy me, ate it. Since my inital loss, I've lost 2 lbs. but now I've gained it back. I don't exercise, except bed to bathroom to living room to TV. Please don't give up, just hang in there. My Dr. told me that Lap Band weight comes off slower than bypass. Keep up your good work, Pam

Anyone not losing due to emotional eating/eating around band?
Montana Pam replied to mandi78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mandi 78 I've been watching that "I Can Make You Thin" Last night the how to deal with cravings was on and I had to miss it. Something about the thumb and middle finger together ....? After you see it, would you let me know how to do it? Cravings, HAH mine is sure not just one like chocolate or jelly beans, it's FOOD tacos, hamburgers, sweets like bakery stuff (sure glad there's no krispy creme here), peanut butter and jelly, forget the bread it's fatning. I'm getting hungry, better go eat. Thanks Pam -
Hi, I'm Pam, 63 and a newbie to all this, being banded (2/4/08) and writing message board. Help, help! How do I get a weight loss ticker that I created on that web site to move to my info here? also my picture. I have a little 'thumbnail' but can't get it to move. Is there a special page I need to go to? I'm in Great Falls, MT. Had my surgery done by Dr. David Rohrer. (406-771-8411) He is fantastic! People from all over MT come to have him do their bypass and lapband. This is the 5th surgery he has performed on me (bowel obstructions & hernia repair.) He's a wonderful surgeon! I'm glad there is a place for 60-ish folks to go. I'm having a hard time taking smaller bites and eating slowly. Why does my stomach get full so quickly on some things and not on others? I've actually gotten sick to my stomach 4 times. Need to get a handle on this NOW. advice? Sorry, my mind just hops from one thing to the next and I know it's kind of hard to follow me. Thanks, Pam

Did I eat too much at once?
Montana Pam replied to mindyemt08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tracew, I hope you're still around here after I get my surgery, Feb. 4th. I want an honest, non-mollycoddeling answer when I ask a question or seem to have a problem. I'm probably going to be paying out of pocket for this and I sure don't want to be throwing away my $$. But then, that's just me. -
Pre Op Liquid Diet
Montana Pam replied to Kittenqutie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slbindc, I'm on day 7 of my pre-op. I've lost 15lbs!!! It's a good thing I don't use Cocoa Butter lotion. Keri doesn't tempt me, but watching tv is horrible. There's some kind of food commercial every few minutes. Good luck to us all..... I'm going to try the Iso Pure. I'm not much into shakes and smoothies but I've been knocking them down for the sake of the diet. It has worked. -
Banded on 1/18--feeling dizzy??
Montana Pam replied to alldunn33's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I'm new here, not banded yet. Surgery 2 B Feb.4th. My surgeon is Dr. David Rohrer. He's operated on me 3 times before so he knows my plumbing well. I 'm 63, live on a cattle ranch just outside Great Falls, Montana. I have 3 grand kids, 18, 4, & 2. I have no lap for my little ones to sit on, can't run and play with them, can hardly walk. I've got to be a big-time looser, current weight 280. Is baby food in the chicken broth really considered clear liquids? Sounds wonderful. I'm on the pre-op diet (lost 10lbs!) VERY HUNGRY, I think. I don't want to get started on the wrong foot. Has anybody out there tried any unflavored protein powder that you really cannot taste? I tried UNjury and it tasted to me like a wet baby's diaper smells. The GNC 100% Whey Protein is good--the chocolate&carmel and vanilla, I'm really glad I found this forum. Best of luck to everyone!...
