    Update from 2012

So, I just wanted to update the community. I eventually had the band removed, complications. But losing the initial load, plus low carb high fat and mma, I look like this today. I chose the attachment. I was near 350 at the time of resolution. Granted, I gained a lot back. I'm 185 and was 168. I wish I did better. But I just eat to maintain now. If any of my old bary pals still post, I'd love to see where you are...
  2. Thanks Gerry! And Congrats on the surgery, I hope everything went smooth with the surgery. I know how uncomfortable those first few weeks post-op can be! It gets better, you'll forget all about it even being there soon enough. To answer your question I was completely millitant the first year and a half after the surgery. I kept a very strict exercise and nutrition schedule, I can message you the details. I still work out regularly nowadays and eat a certain way, but it doesn't take near the commitment to sustain as it did to originally get the weight off.
  3. So, just out of curiosity, is there anyone else out there who's relationship nosedived after losing a lot? I was already in a rocky - but long lasting - relationship before banding. but as the weight came off, it just got worse and worse. Relationships are complicated. I don't know or understand all the factors that pitched into the issues. I never had any band fills, I used it more as a security blanket I guess. knowing I couldn't fall off (too hard) made it much easier for me to jump in and work it off. At first she was supportive - though a little inquisitive - about the change in lifestyle. Without going into any details, the things I thought she would appreciate - better body, more energy, 10 times the sex drive, healthier and happier, etc - she came to resent. Eating healthy turned into "thinking I'm better than her because I don't want any ice cream." Working out turned into "my daily excuse to get away from her." Buying new clothes, which is necessary when one looses 125 lbs, was of course done to impress "______". Blank being a different woman of her whim every day. The sex - which you would think got better, didn't. I'll spare the embarassing details, but my raging "affections" and strong will to do more things, more often, etc - were not because I was actually in good shape, but because it was what "my girlfriend" did with me. There of course never was a girlfriend. And hours of reassurance wouldn't convince her of any different. On top of that, the more weight I lost, the more she seemed to gain - though I denied it heavily when she mentioned it. And it made it that much worse, she resented me for it all. Has anyone else had anything similiar happen?

  10. hey Ashley, you look great! You're a very pretty girl.

As far as the working out goes, I'm not sure I used the healthiest motivation method ever, lol. First I have a picture I hate, it's posted in my album - and it's actually bigger and fatter looking than I really was when I got banded. I look like baby hewie(sp). I taped that to the cup I drink out of all day at work, and was forced to look at it all day long. It was more than enough motivation for me. Probably a little crazy though...

Keep up the great work, you look fantastic. Don't lose so much you lose your curves though!

don't lose so much you lose the booty! : p
  12. lol, you're very sweet, thank you for the comment. I'm far from washboard abs though, lol. There is a small amount of definition, but my skin will never be tight enough for all that : D. Thank you very much for the comment though!

  13. Hey Una, thanks for the comment! Sorry it took me so long to respond. As weird as it sounds, I worked out as is bulking, and took in around 350g protein / 1800 cal / ~30 carbs or so a day and did my best to bulk on low cal. I'm still trying to bulk into my skin - lifting for size, 0 cardio, etc. I have pretty bad skin problems - nothing on my stomach, it's my handles and lower back for me... areas that get smaller as you work them, not bigger : /. Just makes it look worse. You look great by the way, I think you're going to fit into your skin much better than I have. Be proud man, you're doing great.

  14. Janey I saw you're considering skin surgery... yeah, me too. I can pull the skin back around my sides and it looks like theres a 15 inch difference between my shoulders and waist... I want it. I'm afraid of the surgery though, and the cost is astronomical. Let me know what you find...

BTW, you look amazing. You were already pretty before, you look absolutely amazing now. Be proud.

    Well hello there : P
  16. hey Rice - no, no TT or anything of the such, but I need one badly. I'm currently scheming on a way to get one. I really don't have much unsightly stomach skin, it's the love handles, they're awful. And no matter what I do, they will never go away : /

    Nymphs Weight Loss To Date

How's everyone doing? I'm at 170 or so, I'm at around 2 years without the band at this point. Maintaining has been easy as long as I STAY in the gym, but if I miss a week or two the weight piles on quick. Happy to see most the crowds been so successful, congrats guys.
  21. davsil - if you have loose skin then low rep / high weight is the way to go. You can tone areas with bodyfat around them, but toning areas with limp skin doesn't do much. Building the muscle to fit into your skin will not only make the best of what you have, but burn many more calories than small, toned muscles.
