I feel bad cause I've been bad
BandaPanda replied to viviananna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week post op today. Thank goodness my dr. only had me do one week of liquids! I was going crazy. Today I had less than a half cup of oatmeal for breakfast! YUM. I had blended vegetable soup for lunch. For dinner a few bites of mashed potatoes and some blended veggies. Plus 3 protein shakes for snacks. It was a good day. All doctors are different. -
I'm feeling so much better. I only take the pain meds once a day. I went to see the WLIA Exercise Trainer yesterday and gave me some very do-able exercises that I think I can stick to and actually have fun with. Been walking daily, but going stir crazy being in the house most of the day. I go back to work tomorrow, looking forward to it. I love all the support here! Thank You!

How To Hide Lap Band From Work
BandaPanda replied to dpj00024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a all male bosses. I just told them I needed time off because I was having "woman" issues and needed to have minor surgery. Men are so funny about that, they don't want details or any more information. I asked them to keep it confidential and they have. As far as my other team members, they just know I took some personal time off. Everyone in my office is always on some kind of a diet. So me drinking protein shakes was not a big deal. I told a few that I was under medical supervised diet. They have seen me diet hundreds of times so it's not new to them. I go back on Thursday of this week and just plan on keeping quiet, eating my mushy food at my desk or eating lunch before or after everyone else. I have not ruled out telling people, just not yet. I want to be able to openly tell someone who may be a good candidate for the band and has watched my weight loss and is inspired some how. If I can help one person get their life back then it will be worth letting the cat out of the bag. Good luck, your heart will tell you what to do. -
Please help me find a shake that tastes good.

I tried a bunch too. I am a Costco nut so I got their EAS Bag, Vanilla Powder. Not bad, especially if you mix fruit in it. But for convenience I got the Muscle Milk Light, also at Costco. I didn't think I would like the chocolate milk, but I do! It's great to take to work too. My doctor approved both. Slim Fast, I was told was high in sugar and carbs. I was told to look for at least 15 grams of Protein, 0 carbs and 0 sugar if possible. I only wish they would let you sample them at the stores before committing to such a large bag or container. Trader Joes has some good ones too. Good Luck! -
I had an insurance nightmare, but they did cover it in the end. Thank you Aetna. WLIA know how to deal with insurance companies and they will do all they can for you. You are in good hands. I had been with True Results first and they had no clue or a follow up program and just very unorganized. I am so happy I found WLIA. Good Luck getting approved, its a long journey, be patient.

What did you eat today?
BandaPanda replied to Sherry L.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to drink a cup of coffee today, actually I got scared and only had half. 3 EAS protein shakes half cup of Chicken broth 1/4 cup of jello one sugar free popsicle 5 oz glass of skim milk and sipping on water most of the day. I had surgery on 3/06 and today I felt much better than yesterday I even did a few loads of laundry. Bending over was much easier. Still taking the liquid Tylenol, but only every 6 hours instead of 4. I can't wait for the mushy food stage. -
Dr Orris and Dr DeBarros with Weight Loss Institute of Arizona are amazing! They work out of Tempe St. Lukes. Love them!

Pre-op Weight Loss
BandaPanda replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just finished my 4 months required monitored program. I only lost 8 pounds in the process. They only turn in your starting weight, at least that was my experience. I got approved for surgery one week of them submitting it to my insurance and I am scheduled for surgery on Feb 14! I'm on my second day of the proten shakes. So far so good.
