Diva4Life started following Shoulder Pain, fill with vomting, What Am I doing so WRONG...(or do I just suck) and and 7 others
-
Just wanted to let you know - I went to the doc today for an unfill. They took out 1/2 of what they put in Tuesday. Yesterday was the WORST DAY post surgery I ever had! Today, I'm back on track and feeling great! You'll notice my ticker went down 6 pounds (in 2 days)- trust me when I say - that was the worst 6 pounds to loose throughout this journey. I'm thankful for all I read on this thread b/c it helped me urgently get in for an unfill. Thanks!
-
Sorry about that - I can not keep liquids down. Drinking coffee now...so we'll see...will keep you posted. Thanks! Banded 2/4/08 and feeling great!

Ok, so from what I'm reading it sounds like I need a slight unfill. I just got a fill yesterday, and today - I can keep liquids down! Last night I was fine. I'm wondering - is it just that its tighter in the morning, or is it I need half taken out? Banded 2/04/08 and feeling great!

You have nothing to be ashamed of. It's a process. I felt them same way until my 4th fill...now I have 5cc's in a 10 cc band and I feel that it's working. But, everyone is different - you can't compare yourself to anyone but yourself unless you know you had the same appetite as them before. You said you're eating less than you were before, so it's that's good. I feel full quicker, but foods that others have problems with (like bread and pasta) I don't - so that's not a gauge. The gauage is whether the weight is coming off (there are plateaus - but it doesn't sound like you're at one) So, it's good that you're eating less than you were, but (especially since you are working out) - you may need a fill - I don't think there's anything to figure out...if you're still hungry - you need a fill. The band is a tool, and if you're doing your part then you need to have the tool adjusted. Banded 2/4/08 and feeling great! -
You know - I hadn't really considered it. I was/am a sweater. Since 7th grade, I recall my back/face sweating when I rushed or when I went from a cold environment to hot or vice versa or even getting out of the shower - I'd have to let myself cool off. I even looked into it before (hyperhydrosis)...b/c I thought it was genetic (my father sweats when he drinks coffee). I hadn't given it much thought...but now that you mention it -it has significantly improved. I don't sweat as much or often as I used to...and yesterday was almost 100 degrees where I live. Humm...wow the band actually banded my "water works"! Thanks for helping me realize that! Wow! Banded 2/4/08 and feeling great!

Just like your decision to have weight loss surgery is personal, my opinion is that the success with the band is personal too. Pre-surgery, I too came to this site and what I gathered was that more people seemed positive than negative, thus what did I have to loose -but weight! We are all different, so my (non-medical) analysis was that it seems like some of it may have to do with age and starting weight. I know my Doc doesn't do lap-band for people with BMI over 50 b/c he said it's not very effective. As for me, my pre-surgery BMI was 48, and I'm trilled with the results. I wish I would have done it years ago! My band is my new best friend! Good Luck with whatever decision you make! Banded 2/04/08 and feeling great!

MY scale IS BROKE! I know we've all thought this sometimes but mine really is! Yesterday, I had an appointment with my doc and was elated to learn I'd lost 6 pounds since my last visit. Why was I excited? Not only b/c it was after a weekend get-a-way (that I felt my band took a vacation b/c I could eat just about everything) but also because my scale said that I GAINED TWO POUNDS! I've done all the tricks...changing the battery, moving it (which then it said I gained a pound in a minute!) and making sure I weighed myself without clothes and then with exactly what I'm wearing to the docs office and it LIED TO ME! How cruel! I'm excited, but I think I'm going to throw my scale out the window! Just wanted to share a laugh and encourage someone that maybe their scale is broke too! OK...I think my band went on vacation this weekend! I was really bad...I went on a weekend get-away to the beach and boy did I eat! Then, I came home and my family bar-b-qued! To make matters worse, I was too tired to go to the gym this morning!!! Anyway, I was beating myself up for over eating and I realized that even though I ate more then I'm supposed to - I did eat a lot less than my pre-band days. I'm not at my sweet spot yet, but hopefully when I go see the doc tomorrow I'll get another fill. I'm on the same boat with you guys, and today I'm back on track too!

Socializing smack dab in the middle of liquid diet!

I went out on a date on the liquid stage (with a guy I had only been seeing for 2 months)....the soup suggestion works. Olive Garden has a soup (sorry can't remember the name) that has a few chunks - but you can easily eat the broth. When I went out with friends, I found that they were so caught up in their meals/conversation no one really noticed I was sipping broth. Each time I walked out thinking - if I survived this, then my weight loss journey will be a success! Good luck! -
why does it hurt so bad?

I'm doing good...thanks for asking hit a plateou, but I started working out, so I'm getting back on track. So far I've lost 24 pounds (17 of which were during the liquid stage) and 8 pre - for the grand total of 32 pounds! I'm glad you are encouraged about 9 - when you see the progress of others it's easy to get discouraged, but the way I look at it - every single pound is a victory! -
why does it hurt so bad?

That happens to me...I'm 2 months out, so it's less frequent, but when it happends I take the gas-x strips and the pain goes away. -
HANG IN THERE YOU CAN DO IT! I understand, I recently hit a big slump! I was banded on 2/4 and wasn't pleased with my weight loss. The bulk of it was during the liquid stage (8 pre-surgery, 17 liquid stage, after that only 5 pounds in a month and a half). Then last week, had my 2nd fill and decided that I didn't have surgery for nothing, so I was going to work this thing! I began working out (which I hadn't done since surgery) and in the last week I've lost 4 pounds and am completely motivated! I got over my "fat days" by looking at pictures of me pre-surgery and said - "Hey, I'm looking good now !" then I look at my "skinny pictures" (from 15 years ago) and got motivated that I'm going to get there again! I share all that to say, you're not alone and YOU CAN DO IT!

I had the same problem - after reading it on here - I bought the gas-x strips and they worked wonders!
