I thought Mark was a big phoney. He was crying because he didn't want to go home and was trying to get Roger to give in to his hysterics. They made a big tactical error in not voting Roger off however as far as playing the game goes. Roger is huge and probably will win. this was probably their last chance to get rid of him. And these guys with all this Pride BS. Gosh guys - it's a GAME! Get a life. And Bob sucks! He really stacked his team. Didn't seem like the yoga loving man at all. I am so disappointed in him. The men always win- they need to handicap the guys somehow- a woman will never beat a guy in losing weight.

Protein, my kingdom for good protein
sadie11 replied to jocarojo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Medifast shakes- they are available on the web- I think they are good and I'll use them for my pre-surgery and post surgery liquid. the Medifast diet is good except I got too hungrey with it. So I'll use Medifast with the band- hopefully that will be a good combination. We'll see! banding on March 3rd. Sadie -
I am being banded on March 3rd and wanted to tell people to try Medifast shakes and bars. Very low carb and I think they have a good taste- I especially like the oatmeal raisin bars. They are Meal Replacement products so they have all the Vitamins and stuff you need. I did really well with Medifast .... until I didn't!:biggrin2: Too much hunger. I'm going to try doing Medifast again with the band in place. I'm hoping having less hunger because of the band will be the trick to succeeding. Good luck to all the March Bandsters! Sadie

Hi all; I'm a March 3rd also and go for my nutrition class today. I am so ready for this. I have only 3 days of liquid diet I think. Being banded by Tom Brown in Denver and my partner is getting banded too. Self pay $9,900 x 2 Ouch! It will be worth it however since we are both starting to have significant physical problems. More later- good luck to all! Sadie

Hi Steph; Thanks for the info - it helps alot knowing you liked them that much- I liked Allyson too- I'm glad they are aggressive about fills. I'm going for the nutrition class today and getting banded MOnday- I'm glad it's finally here- waiting has been a pain and I'm eating like it's the Last Supper- enough already! I would have responded sooner BUT I was in Hawaii and just got back- now I'm ready to get down to business. Do you go to the support group meetings? Are they worthwhile? And yes I'm a self pay also - Thanks

For those with BMI 35-40?
sadie11 replied to ronwifey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all 35-39er's I am at 39 BMI and tall also but I'm still 100+ pounds overweight. I am fortunate to have a wonderful friend who is 5' and about 90 lbs. who supports me totally. She is great and tells me she wants me to have a long healthy life and the hell what anyone thinks. My partner is also getting the surgery. She does not want anyone to know so I am not telling anyone else. I hope all of you find one person other than a spouse or partner to tell and complain to when neccessary. It helps. I'm being banded on Monday and I can't wait to change my relationship with food. I am so tired of being depressed by how much I weigh. Best and love to you all! Sadie -
Protein, my kingdom for good protein

Harley Girl - i'm with you about the lastest pictures of those poor cows at the slaughterhouse. It made me cringe and ashamed of the human species. I know that we are carnivores and, if I was hunting game and eating what I killed, I'd feel a whole lot better about eating meat. (Actually I'm a pretty good shot! and have my hunting license but I've never killed anything) We humans have raised the whole raising and slaughtering of animals to an inhumane level. Pigs kept above those disgusting lagoons, cows spending their whole lives packed in pens. It's just not right. We need to have more respect for other animals I believe. Once I have my surgery I'll be giving up most meat products. I can't reconcile the inhumane treatment of the animals. Cage free is worth the extra money. Surgery on Monday March 3rd- yea! A new relationship with food I hope. Sadie -

sadie11 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor told I will not be able to tolerate diet coke or seltzer. Is this true? Say it isn't so... I love carbonation... I'm getting banded on March 3rd - yea!:tt1: Sadie -
Josie- your height and weight are exactly mine right now- we are body doubles! I'm getting banded on March 3-- I'm hoping- no I'm PLANNING to be where you are in a year! Great job! Did you have trouble with hunger and/or cheating after being banded? I'm cautious about being too hopeful that the band will actually help where other diets have failed me. Any words of wisdom for me? thanks for posting your stats- they help folks like me! Sadie

Couples getting banded at the same time - Problems?
sadie11 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My Sig other and I are going to get banded in March a couple of weeks apart. I was wondering how many folks here have spouses/partners who are also banded. Did you realize you both had to do it? Has it made your life easier? Are there problems i should be aware of? We feel that we both have to change our lifestyle and eating patterns and improve our health. Not easy coming up with $20,000 but I think we will have better lives. Thanks to all for your time and wisdom! Sadie11 -
Desert mom- I was so encouraged by your comment that lower BMI folks seem to do better- my BMI is 38 and I realized I am starving (ha!) for encouragement. Thanks The topic is compelling for sure. The stories are heartbreaking to read. We have all suffered so much! It is overwhelming to read these stories. I of course, have a sad story too. Mother died when I was 3 and I was on my own. My father was chronically depressed and was just unavailable. I got myself up for school, made my Breakfast, walked to school, came home for lunch, made my lunch if there was any food. and walked back to school. All this in kindergarden! I do not remember adults speaking to me during my whole childhood. It is all a fog to me. All very sad and dark. I have surrounded myself with wonderful loving people in my adult life. I have been very successful and reached every goal I ever had except for controlling my weight. I am hoping the band will give me the edge I need. I realize my childhood will always be dark and sad. I will always miss my mother every day of my life. That emptiness will always be there no matter how much i eat. I cannot have a happy childhood but i can have a wonderful adulthood and for the most part, I have a had a wonderful life. I am blessed with a wonderful loving partner who treats me like a queen and friends who love me and want to be with me. It has not been without struggle. I am off to Hawaii and then back for my band. I am hoping this final problem of weight will be solved with this tool. Love to you all Sadie

Anyone ever afraid people will treat you different when you're not overweight?

Hello girls- I am so glad to be 58 and all these situations you describe are no longer an issue! My 20's were my worse decade- you will be a whole different person as you age- it is so wonderful to leave the 20's and 30's behind. In my advanced wisdom, here are basic truths I have learned: 1. Be who you are and demand respect with your actions and your words, not your body. 2. Dress as you like but if you have your boobs hanging out, people will look and judge you negatively. Accept it or cover up. 3. Men love to look but have a culture that demeans women who uncover themselves. They like the chase, ladies, make sure there is still some candy for the guy who catches you. 4. I have been loved as a fat woman and as a skinny one. It has not made one bit of difference. I just had more to choose from when I was thinner. The quality suffered however. Quality is always hard to find. 5. Keep quality friends who truly love you no matter what your size. 6. Learn to give true love to your friends, family, spouse and yourself. No judging/ no criticisms. Ever. Always be very kind to those you love you. 7. Always be gracious when someone is being mean and walk away with your head high without lowering yourself to their standard. Enough from the old lady - Love and success to you all- and remember the 50's are the best decade of your life in my opinion- you have a lot to look forward to. XXXOOOO Sadie -
 Okay my partner and I are both getting banded in March. We need to improve our health while we can. We are going with Dr. Tom Brown in Denver- nice guy - great staff and $9900 each. Kirshenbaum is too far away for us but sounded good too. And 52 lbs. in 6 months is great - good for you. I hope I do as well as you. Best to all- Sadie from Boulder

Did you tell your Doc?
sadie11 replied to cara51183's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went for my Dr. appointment today and I'm getting banded on March 3rd. yea! My partner of 9 years is getting banded in March also. We're tired of being big dykes with high blood pressure. And yes I told them -- they were all fine with it. And if they weren't I'd be out the door. :tt1: I'm 58 and I don't give a damn if someone approves of me or not. I'm not that crazy about some of my friends partners but I shut up about it and I expect others to have the same good manners. Gosh, the 50's are great- I am who I am. I love you for who you are. I expect you to love me for who I am and the experiences that made me who I am today. Life is good! -
the best bars are Medifast- you have to order them online- they are designed to be a Meal Replacement bar. Very little sugar and good. The Medifast Soups are tops and the crackers are plain but very low calorie. Sadie

:tt1::biggrin: Hi folks; I am considering getting banded also- meeting with Dr. Tom Brown on Wednesday. His clinic is much closer to me than Kirshbaum. I am very excited about it. And nervous about keeping the weight off but I think the band will give me the edge I need. I'm hoping to get a band in March. Best to all; I love reading this thread! Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters
sadie11 replied to AshevilleEddie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello all; I am getting evaluated on Wednesday and hoping for a March Banding. - My partner will be getting banded also. I told her we both had to do it. I didn't want to be thin without her. She is having some serious medical problems which is what got me investigating this procedure to start with. And the more i read the more I realized I needed it too. I am busy saving the $$ for 2 (count 'em 2) surgeries. We are self pay because the insurance procedure is endless for Kaiser. So hello to all from Boulder CO and good luck on your weight loss. Sadie -
I am having my first appointment next week and since I am a self pay, I am hoping to get through everything quickly for March banding. I have been wishy washy about bands for a while and thought they cost like $30,000 which I cannot afford. The doctor I'm seeing costs $9000 so I became much more interested. Now I can't hardly wait. He also has a 30 Day Rapid Start - I'll find out about that too. It would be such a blessing to have this weight business fixed once and for all! I'm sick of dealing with it. I'll drink Protein shakes (I actually like them!) I don't care- just give me some help when I lose my will power- just a little help is all I need. Falling off the wagon for a couple of days means I gain all my weight back or most of it. I'm hoping the band will get me through that period better. Good luck to us both! Sadie
