    fish oil?

I would anyone's ideas about a protein supplement that tastes good. I have yet to find one I like and am struggling to get my protein in. I was just rebanded in Feb so I trying to make sure I get everything right. I went to GNC today and looked at Fish oil (that is how I ended up on this subject) but I didn't buy any. For those that do take the fish oil, is that in addition to your multi-vitamin? What benefits have you noticed?

Found out today my band slipped :(

The elastic band support goes right under my breast line to right below my waist line. It has velcro on one end and they pulled it as tight as they could and attached it to the other side. At the first surgery it was already on me when I woke up. The nurse told me it was for "support". It helped when I got up and moved around, it was like it held everything "in place". Sometimes it was so tight it was uncomfortable. Now when I pull it tight the velcro goes past the part where it should attach to, so It is not tight anymore if I try to wear it.
  5. I had slippage and ended up with a new band February 15th.
  6. It was discovered that I had a slip in the middle of Jan 08. I lost 53 lbs so my BMI was down to around 32. I received my band in July 07 and I had the "bigger band". My 2nd surgery was Feb 15 08 and the surgeon told me right before the surgery if I didn't have the newest band he was going to replace the old one which he did. I work for an insurance company and it is my understanding ( I also read this in another post on this forum by a nurse) that when your band slips, it becomes a medical necessity to have it fixed and insurance has to pay for it and if they don't you should appeal it. My surgeon's office said the same thing - medical necessity. My situation almost became an emergency because I couldn't keep anything down.

Good bye old band/Hello new band

I received my new band when they went in to fix my slip on Feb 15, 2008. So far I don't feel as sore as I did the first time.

Found out today my band slipped :(

I was banded in July 07 and have lost 53lbs. The last fill I had was Oct 07 and now I had to go back the next day because I could not drink water. The Dr took some fluid out, but now that I look back I was still too tight but didn't realize it. On the other visits, the Dr said he didn't want to add any more more fluid and really thought he should take some out. I said no because I thought I was OK. 1st week of January I had my regular appt and I almost told him to take some out but I didn't, the next week I was doing a whole lot of PBing. Called and got in to see the Dr and he took some fluid out. I was ok for a week and then started vomiting. Went back in and he took some more out and I questioned if my band had slipped, first he said lets wait a couple of days and see how you do, but then he said to ease both of our minds let get an Upper GI. Went for the upper GI the next morning and 2 days later they wanted to schedule surgery. Was ok again for about a week and then couldn't keep anything down. Called the office and ask about taking out more fluid, the nurse thought he already took it all out. Went in that day and he ask me if I wanted it all out. Hard decision but I decided to have it all out so I wouldn't have to keep going to Dr and paying co-pay. I was scared to death to have it all out and did OK for the 1st few days, but then realized I could eat whatever I wanted again before my 2nd surgery and having to do the liquids again. I did gain around 8lbs, but I had lost 15 in 2 weeks due to vomiting. Now after the 2nd surgery I am questioning why I did all of this in the 1st place. I am scared it may slip again. I may not realize it is too tight again. I may overeat and make my pouch stretch. I guess if it doesn't work this time, it wasn't meant to be. I don't think I would convert to Gastric Bypass. I will keep you posted how it turns out. So far it seems the pain is less but I am starving. Funny thing I noticed today is they put an elastic "support band" around me last time for when I wasn't laying down. This time they asked me if I still had it and I said yes and they told me to make sure I used it. When I went to put it on today, it really doesn't help this time because it is too big.

    Slippage: Causes? Treatment?

I had surgery to correct my band 2/15/08. the surgeon went in with the intention of repositioning the band but went ahead and replaced it with a "newer" model that is supposed to have a lower chance of slipping. Needless to say before the surgery I was terrified because I was completely unfilled. I did gain some weight back (8lbs) but that was my own doing. There was certain things I wanted to eat one last time. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I am on the liquids again for 2 weeks and am struggling with that. Good Luck!

Found out today my band slipped :(

I do not feel as sore as I did the first time. Probably because he left the same port in and I have a small cut around that area. I am still very hungry

Found out today my band slipped :(

My surgery went ok. I had some really bouts of vomiting but nothing could come up. I believe it was from the anteshisia (sp?) I was able to home the same day. He would have liked me to to stay overnight but I didn't want to. (last time I had to stay 5 nights). Instead of repsoitioning the band, he put in the newest model that is supposed to help your band stay in place. I already had the big one so he gave me another big one. I am sore, he cut me in all the same spots and only half of of the scar where my port is. I have a "pain ball" which should run out tomorrow so I guess that will tell how sore I really am. I am starving for food. I can move around good right now. He wants to see me in 6 weeks and is going to fill 7cc's.

Found out today my band slipped :(

My surgery is tomorrow morning to fix my slip. I am scared to death. For the past 2 weeks I have been unfilled and able to eat way too much.

    What to tell co-workers

I was told 2 weeks, but I was in the hospital 5 days. I developed pneumonia and they finally let left leave. I realized after bbeing discharged that my surgeon wouldn't see me fro 3 weeks anyway. I ended up taking 6 weeks which is what my dr asked for and it was approved. I didn't have problems with the surgery but due to the pnemonia I was sore longer. I also slipped in a puddle of water on a very slick floor - didn't bust anything on the outside but I was very sore.

    What to tell co-workers

Before my surgery, I only told a couple of people and asked them not to tell. Eventually everyone found out. I would go with the "female" surgery, it seems to make everyone silent. I wish I hadn't told anyone not even my mother. In the beginning they kept saying can you eat that? are you supposed to be doing that? I don't understand how you can eat that if you are on a diet. Finally one day, I got angry and told them I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I chewed it up really good and please stop worrying about it. Every week how much have you lost now? Every time I talk to my mother, my sister and my aunt has ask her how much have I lost. I told her I wish I hadn't told anyone.

Found out today my band slipped :(

Maryland, My situation sounds just like yours. My surgeon said my slip was probably from being too tight. I had not had an adjustment since November, I was going to the surgeon but did not get any adjustment. Totally my fault, I thought the "tightness" I was feeling was what I was supposed to feel. Once I was totally too tight and didn't really realize it until the next day. I almost had to visit the emergency room due to not being able to drink anything. After I get mine corrected I will not take any chances with being too tight, If I have any doubt I am going to ask to have some taken out. He showed me my X-ray and I saw that I too have a big pouch overhang. I am completely unfilled and can eat pretty much anything. I have no restriction and am gaining weight back quickly. Now I realize how much I really do need the restriction and how careful I will be. Tighter is not always better. I am kind of worried because he told he was going to start me off with 7cc's this time. My first adjustment to 7 last time is when I almost had to go to the emergency room, but he does mine sitting up now and I know what to look for.
