Ya gotta love the insurance companies/company HR mgrs. If I were an idiot or a junkie they will step up to send me to rehab for a month and pay my salary. BUT since I am just a lard ass I am not covered. Recon how much they would spend on a heart attack?

Dianne I live in Red Oak This is my first fill and it was a cake walk. It still amazes me what they can do from outside my body with just a syringe full of water. So far, I can feel a little more restriction.

Everyone was right George is pretty cool. He goes to 4 different sites to do fills. I really liked how he explained everything and with the cold spray I never even felt the needle go in. Strangest sensation was when he filled band then had me drink Water, then he unfilled it and stuck feeling went away. King- it would have been good to meet you to put a face with the name. I had never been there before and when I introduced myself they said "Oh Cowboy" I just thought it was 'cuz of the hat, then later they told me you told them I was coming. Thanks db

George must be the roving fill guy. I am scheduled to get my first fill, from George, today at 4:30. I am glad some of y'all have written about your fill experiences, sounds like no big deal

I am a Construction Superintendent My most favorite project is the school that I am on right now db

I have seen the lap band called a "belly cop" a "tool" and several other things. I prefer to think of my band as a "restrictor plate". I am looking forward to the races here in Texas, BUT I am not looking forward to the temptations of many many beers and good ol' concession stand food. I'll just have to cowboy up and meet the temptations head on. Missing the races is not an option.

T & Hopeful Welcome to the "band"wagon. Dr. Kim did my surgery 5 weeks ago and I could not be happier. BTW I am down 35 lbs. Y'all take it easy for a few days and don't eat too many Easter Eggs. db

Hidy, Hidy, Everybody Apparently I am the newest inductee into "bandster hell" I have had my band a month and I can AND want to eat any and everything. I am scheduled for 1st fill on 4-3-08 and I am plenty ready. I sure do appreciate all that has been posted. There are a few people on here that are 2 weeks to a month ahead of me and your postings really help a lot. To those behind me: Keep checking in for support, and To those ahead of me: PLEASE PLEASE keep telling me what I have coming up next. Thanx db

Dr. Kim did mine on Valentines Day Class Act Would use him again in a heart beat

I had the OnQ. Never seen or heard of it before, but I sure liked it. If I ever have surgery again I will ask for it. db

Tween; that is ONEDERFUL keep on losin' on. T; I guess everyone has to do the psych eval. I was told they want to assure that you have reasonable expectations and that you are ready, willing and able to do your part to make the band successful. You will not wake up skinny and you will have to make a life change to follow diet and exercise.

I was banded 2 weeks ago, on Valentines Day. I live just south of Dallas, TX

Nadian, Good for you. I was a little nervous before surgery, but on the way home I realized there was nothing to be concerned about. Fear of the unknown is a lot worse than the actual procedure and post-op. I have 1 incision less than 2 inches long and 5 real small ones, and they are healing up nicely. He used some kind of super glue instead of stiches or staples, I'm not sure how it works BUT it sure does.Only extra money I paid was for Optifast, and If I had it to do over again I would still buy drinks from TLC because it was convenient and their product tasted better to me than stuff wife bought at store. First week of liquid diet was tough, I even called to beg Dr. Kim to let me have something else and he wouldn't budge. I got by on Optifast, creamy soups and popsicles. Never had so much no sugar, no fat food in all my life. I get to start mushie stage tomorrow and I am looking forward to anything other than a milk box and a creamy soup. The first week is hard, but you WILL get through it and then it is not so bad. Good Luck IT WILL BE WORTH IT Keep in touch, seeing what others went through before me really helped.
-
Hey T, Good to hear from you. I was totally impressed with Dr. Kim and the whole TLC/Prestonwood program. Hope you will be as well. They told me I should drink 6 or 7 Optifast a day. They told me I needed 4 cases of Optifast, and I got 1 box of Chicken soup just to try, and the price was $345. It was kind of sticker shock when they told me the price. Mainly because I was not aware that I was to buy any product from them. BUT the upside is I am 2 weeks post op and I still have 8 or 10 drinks left. The soup was surprisingly good and my wife has had a few of the drinks. She bought some of the other drinks that are on the approved list and I liked the Optifast drinks better than any of the stuff she bought at the store. Now let me bragg, I am 2 weeks post op and since starting liquid diet I am down 31 lbs.

Dr Wade Barker??is He Right For Me??
Cowboy replied to ssmith9994's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
SSMITH I know this Dr. Barker has had ads on TV for 9500 There is an outfit in Plano, TLC Edge that has a special for 9990 They have like 6 docs to choose from. These docs are established all around DFW area and some how team up with TLC Edge. All ops are at the brand spanking new Prestonwood Surgery Center. Dr. David Kim did my surgery on 2-14-08. I don't have their phone # at hand but you can google for it. There is another thread under doctors and hospitals for TLC Edge doctors you might want to check out. The people at Dr. Kim's office, the ladies at TLC Edge and the staff at the Surgery center were great. They treated me like I was their only patient. I would use them again in a heartbeat. I don't know about any other docs but if you want warm fuzzies and answers to questions you don't even know to ask, you might give these folks a call. GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE -
Hidy Hidy Everybody I had surgery on Valentines and am back to work today. I feel pretty good, just sore like I've been kicked in the belly. Thanks for all of the well wishes. I hate to be redundant but I can't say enough good things about Dr. David Kim, his P.A. John Kane, the girls at TLC Edge and The Prestonwood Surgery Center. Everyone without exception treated me like I was the most important person in the world. Truly a great bunch of people to be around. I am glad everyone that had surgery before me is writing about their experiences so I know what to look forward to. Thanks again for the well wishes and I am glad to be post-op.

Sure am happy to see all the positive posts about Dr. Kim. My surgery is next Thursday I am having a tough time with Optifast diet, a box of milk only goes so far, I want to chew on something

TLC Edge has a special deal through the end of Feb for $9,900, that is where I will be banded on 2-14-08. I have also seen an ad for a Dr. Carter in the DFW area with a $9,500 special. I am self pay also.
