And I suppose she's one of those that thinks Jesus didn't drink alcohol?? Yea, like there was anything else in those days to drink but BEER!! We had a neighbor that used to come into our house, talk our wine and hollar that we were going to hell for drink it!! I told her too late... we're already there and she's the antichrist....

Gilta, I was banded Apr 8th by Dr. DiBeneditto at Roch Gen. After a very bad experience at Highland, I will never set foot in there again.
-
Oh Gilta that sucks!! Thad Boss was one dr who was recommended to me, and I know someone who had gastric bypass done by him.
-
I'm ok with the fill!! Not really too much of a difference. It does slow me down a little. Pineapple is a little difficult, but I just need to chew and slow down.
-
Just a warning about fills everyone.... They are $150 EACH and are no covered by all insurances.... BCBS will cover about half, preferred care, nothing!! *At least Dr. D's office told me this yesterday* We might want to start calling our ins co and say, you cover the surgery, but not the maintenance?? It's like not covering the perscriptions for a heart patient! Or the battery for their pacemaker.... oye.
-
Got my first fill today.... oye his uses a big needle!!! So far so good!
-
Actually, they're pretty good at answering questions right on the phone. When they do have to call back it's not a long wait.
-
I was banded Apr 8th w/Dr DiBeneditto at RGH. Stay away from Highland if you want to live. RGH stay was great and I've lost 20 pounds since surgery.
-
I dont remember if I had to get that from Shedd..... I started when Dr Glavin was there and he got everything going. Dr D just got to do the surgery!
-
It still hurts to walk. The big incision by the port and the port area are sore and the 'giggling' of my belly when I walk makes me sore. So the 10 min walk into work does me in for a while. No PB... I don't have a fill yet. Work sucks!! They're all morans!
-
Back to work! yuck.

I had my surgery with Dr D on Apr 8th. Everything went great, the stay at the hosp was good and the nurses there are wonderful.

Thanks all. It's been a hard week with him. If you're interested in what we went thru, his website is Welcome to Oreo's Site! I do have a new puppy! And I'm home another week so the training and housebreaking has been going good. She doesn't make is any better, but she does help. Her name is Bella and she's a 6 month old Boston terrier. I'm maintaining my weight on mushies, but I still get very hungry about 8:30pm. I want salty crunchy things! Don't know how to deal with that because Dr said no bread.... oye. We are juicing fruits and veges so I can get everything in. The baked potato soup reciepe on this site is great!

Hi Gals, I'm doing ok. I was able to switch to mushies last wednesday. I'd down 20 pounds since surgery. I have asked for an additional week off. I'm walking like Dr D asked but it wipes me out. I had a very bad week last week. I lost my dog from cancer. That set me back a few days. I was up 3 days in a row with him. I'm still sore but healing well. My knees and hips are now hurting from walking so much, and my belly still feels like someone has been punching me. But the incisions are all healed and I get to go back to my scuba class in 2 weeks! How's everyone else?? Heather.

Gilta, I did it by having a 100cal yogurt for breakfast, 180 cal protein shake for lunch and a simple dinner, chicken and sweet potato or fish and rice. no snacks, drink only water. OR Hit the slimfast. 3 times a day. drink only water, coffee, or tea.
-
Doc said I got the 10cc band, no fill. I get filled 6 weeks after surgery (so 5 weeks from now). I can't wait until I can eat again. All these liquids.... ugh. I recommend going to wegmans and getting several of the teas from the tea bar. They add flavor and variety to my day! The chocolate chai has real chocolate in it! Good luck with the Beyond Diets!
-
Sorry! Just got your message! Dr D is great. I had my surgery Apr 8th. Everything went well. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll help with what I can!
-
Dr D (from what the nurses told me) gives everyone a private room. My insurance only covers a semi, unless the Dr overrides!!! I loved my room! BTW down 14 pounds.....

Sept 2008??? that's impresive.... wish I had a time machine -
I was banded 4/8. The incisions don't hurt, but my stomach rumbles a lot and I have gas! Been taking gasx, but still have it. I don't burp. But I can feel the top of my stomach rumble. I hope I don't hurt the band! Any ideas what's going on? I'm on clear liquids. Also doc has me on zantac. Anything I could drink to stop the rumblings?

I didn't get to drink water for 24 hours. No cath....

Hi everyone. I'm home now. Everything went great. Dr D said I did a great job with the preop diet as my organs were very small. The staff at RGH was something special. The bairum swallow was no big deal and I was discharged at 5:30p yesterday. I'm sore where the port is but the incisions don't hurt at all. Also a little sore up near the solar plexis where he had to go under the stomach to place the tube. I can't say enough for Dr D and the RGH staff... I had a room to myself and they wer great at getting anything I needed. Even if they did make me get up and walk at 3:30am. I'm on clears until sunday then I add carnation instant b-fast, I don't goto mushies for about 2 weeks. Prayers for quick healing for TJVeggie!! Thanks everyone!

Do not starve yourselves!

Just my personal experience ..... I had to goto 600 cals a day in order to lose anything.... 1000 calories just didn't help. I couldn't lose. And that's exercising 45 minutes a day! Dr has me on Preop diet right now and that's only 540 calories a day. Even my PCP was amazed what I had to do to get my metabolism to do anything. -
I hope Dr Shedd is feeling better!! She wasn't when I saw her a week ago. Dr D had to fax her a template to use to write the letter of PCP support (If that's the letter you're asking about) and no, no tests were needed. It's just a letter stating her support during this journey, and that I've been overweight forever. I'm all packed for tomorrow. I'll post as soon as I can wednesday when I get home (if I don't just sleep for the rest of the week!)

Dr D says slimfast or atkins.... no others for the 5 day preop diet. Only tea, coffee, diet jello and water. Cat food was looking pretty good yesterday.
