    About to Be Banded

Dr. Britt and Dr. Groves will be providing monthly support meetings beginning this month. The meetings will alternate between Marshall Medical North in Guntersville and Marshall Medical South in Albertville. See the following link to view their calendar for dates and time. http://www.samc.stirsite.com/page/page/2453219.htm Just a note for all those wishing to use Dr. Britt or Dr. Groves. They no longer have a Madison Office and will not be holding any more seminars in Huntsville/Madison. Their last 2 seminars only produced 3 attendees each. Seminars will now be held in Guntersville or Albertville. With the high level of care and compassion these great doctors have for their patients, it is worth the drive to Guntersville or Albertville. Their aftercare and wonderful staff makes them the best choice in Alabama in my opinion. They are doing LAP-BAND® surgery 2-3 days a week now. They believe in the surgery and the need to provide great after care with follow up visits and fills (adjustments). __________________

    Diet Guidelines

Its important to follow your own surgeon's guidelines. I have new heard of drink 80 oz of water. Most guidelines I have read recommends at leat 64 oz of water a day. Just remember you will get some water from other sources of food. So if you fail to drink only 60 oz of water, you proably will still be getting over 64 oz of water in a day. Also know your body is healing from surgery. It may take a week or more for your body to adjust to your new friend the Lap-Band and allow you to get to 60-80 oz a day. I would think the propel would be okay as long as it contains no sugar. I drink water or Diet green tea. I took a bottle of my deit green tea (use Kroger or Lipton) to let my doctor review to insure it was okay. He said it was a good healthy choice. I hope this helps you.

    Huntsville Area

I have BCBS of Alabama and I used Dr. Britt/Dr. Groves for my surgery. I did drive to Guntersville and Marshall Medical Center North for the surgery. It was worth the trip. I love Dr. Britt. They are now doing Lap-Band surgeries two days a week at Marshall Medical North. 90% of their surgeries are the Lap-Band. In their practice, the bypass is falling to the side in favor of the better procedure.

    Myspacers with Facebook

myYearbook, is just an networking site. It has games, voting contests, quiz matches and other features. You can give gifts and other things as well. It was created by a 16 year old girl and is like the #5 top rank networking site. Of course, #1 is myspace and #2 is Facebook. I just think it is neat that a 16 year old could create and start her on website business.

    Something wrong with the chatroom?

Can the names be put in alphabet order? Can this be an option? I personally like having the order shown as the order of entry, but many like the old alphabet order. Just a thought.

    Where's everyone in bama at?????

I am still here. I am from Hartselle. I have lost 44 lbs in just over 6 months. I was banded in February 2008. I love my band. Does anyone know a good place to go for a local support gruop here in Hartselle/Decatur/Madison Area/ I work in Madison. I would like to find a local group that does not meet during the workday or is not private to just the patients of the doctor hosting the group.

    Meet and greet

I would like to set-up a meet and greet for all of us Alabama bandsters and soon to be bandsters. I am open for suggestions on where to meet. I would like to see us do something in June or July this summer. So I am calling on all of the Bama bandsters to respond and contact me either here on this thread or email me through my profile here on LBT. I look forward to meeting you all in person. It would be great to actually meet some others that are banded. It would be good to know how far you are willing to drive to meet. I think we could meet in like Cullman. Cullman has a park that we could use and I think it would not be to far to drive too for most of us. What do you think?
